Disciple of Messiah: Wavering Between Two Opinions

by John and Ruth Greene

wavering in trustWavering seems to be the human thing to do. In fact, many people take great pride in changing their mind. One social proverb says: “it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.” We prefer to diminish any wavering in what we think, usually based on what we think and what we feel. When you meet peer pressure, persecution and oppression, for any cause, it is easy to relent on what you believe. Folks seem to change their mind all the time. Jealousy and competition-based envy is another factor that destroys the best of resolutions. How many times have you changed your mind while watching your neighbor do what you know is not right? Then, there’s money. Adversity is usually firmly grounded in the lack of wealth and how so many fight fears to avoid that demon! It seems that people will do anything for money, or to prevent the lack of it. They will enslave themselves for the trappings of what seems to be security. Are you one of them, especially in these times? Trust is the single largest human issue in the world today. When you don’t know what to trust, you waver. How much better to intimately know your foundation of trust so that when hard times hit, emotions don’t immediately take hold to compromise that trust! The balance of the world hangs on trust and so does your life! (“Breaking the Hold of Stress“; “Family Stress Affects Generations“; “Trading for the Myth of Peace & Security“; “Delusion & the Tightening Noose of the Beast System“)

“Blessed is the man who trusts in YAHWEH, and YAHWEH is his refuge. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters. It sends out its roots by the stream, and it will not fear when the heat comes; but its foliage will be green; and it is not anxious in the year of drought, nor will it cease from yielding fruit. The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is incurable; who can know it? I, YAHWEH, search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”- Jeremiah 17:7-10, HRB

Ahab-Elijah-altar-witnessAhab and the prophets of Baal were set in a battle of their lives, whether they initially realized it or not. Representatives for the people of Israel had assembled as a witness. Elijah shouted: “How long will you waver between two opinions?” He certainly wasn’t addressing religious false prophets or Jezebel-whipped, indecisive and deceitful King Ahab.” (1Kings 18:16-40) Elijah was focused on those that really mattered in an effort to reach the hearts of those that YHWH loved. He was offering a witness, an opportunity for decision. The people of Israel claimed to be YHWH’s people. It was their heritage. As a modern-day disciple of active faith, you are no different. In the eyes of your Heavenly Father, this is the eternal question that faces everyone that professes to be His children. Are you wavering between two opinions? (“Filling Your Life with Truth Instead of Deception“; “Are You a Christian First or Last?“)

We are not the first society that has been forced to deal with hardened hearts. (Matthew 8:17; Ephesians 4:18) Even in the midst of Christian community, a crisis exists, just like it did almost continually in the old nation of Israel. Let’s face facts; people haven’t changed that much beyond technology that we enjoy today. (Jeremiah 17:9) The lazy heart leans toward what is easy; conditioned behavior leans toward what is convenient. There are plenty of folks that are hypocrites where all lifestyle evidence supports levels of evil character and lies built on self deception. (“Refining Your Heart“; “The Struggle for Purity of Heart“)

Hypocrisy can be brought about gradually through an insensitive heart. Deception is introduced through lack of knowledge, lack of discernment and lack of sensitivity. The lifestyle you live and the proof of whom or what you trust is the measure, the fruit of your personal commitment to your Father. You can’t escape it. Even so, this is a measure that YOU must make, not an estimation made by religious legalists that do no less than what Satan does to tear down and destroy. (Matthew 7:1-6; 1 Peter 5:8) Even though disciples of Messiah have a narrow gate to enter, (Matthew 7:13-14) we have YHWH’s abundant loving-kindness [grace] that fully covers imperfection. Elohim’s [‘God’, YHWH] people are told to stay away from wickedness. (Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:7-8; 22:14-15) Why? So that disciples can be set apart from the world and set apart to Elohim, while enjoying YHWH’s promises and being qualified to enter His Kingdom. (Isaiah 40:13; “Disciple: Deceptions of Generations“; “The Struggle of Kingdoms Involves You“; “Which Shepherd Do You Believe?“)

“And the Spirit of YAHWEH shall rest on Him; He will have the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of YAHWEH. And He is made to breathe in the fear of YAHWEH. But He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears.” – Isaiah 11:2-3, HRB

“But the material man rejects the things of the Spirit of YAHWEH, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But the spiritual man discerns everything, and yet no man is able to discern him. For ‘Who has known the mind of YAHWEH that he will instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Messiah” – 1 Corinthians 2:14-16, HRB

corporate lifeThe modern world has an entire hierarchy of thought built on performance-based measures and the mammon of mankind. The lions of the world would try to dictate the law and your faith relationship with Elohim based on the flesh and a given moment in time, even based on how they feel about you or those they think are like you. Those that use righteous discernment use the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit]. (“The Modern Life Culture Crisis“; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“; “Holy Spirit 101“)

Instead of judging and backbiting, Christians are to examine themselves through the power of Elohim’s Word. (Psalm 26:2; Lamentations 3:40; 2 Corinthians 13:5; 2 Timothy 3:16) Yahshua [Jesus] made these comments about the discerning open heart toward YHWH that each disciple of Messiah needs right now: “And having come the Pharisees and Sadducees tempting, asked Him to show them a sign out of the heaven. But answering, He said to them, ‘Evening coming on, you say, ‘Clear sky, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning you say, ‘Today it is winter for the sky is a gloomy red.’ Hypocrites! You know how to observe the appearance of the sky. The signs of this time you do not know how to discern.’” – Matthew 16:1-3, HRB

the Bible

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For each one that asks receives, and the one that seeks finds; and to the one knocking, it will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8, HRB

“You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me.” – John 8:15-16, NKJV

“The one who rejects Me and does not receive My Words has that judging him: the Word which I spoke, that will judge him in the last Day.” – John 12:48, HRB

Faith is the distillation of trust, the crystal of personal belief and commitment. It is real, with guiding principles and limits. It is steadfast and firm when strong. The fruit of your faith is evidence of real belief that lives in you, fruit that you practice daily. When you waver and do not follow your Heavenly Father in the last moments of your life, whenever that is, you are subject to being judged on that final decision. Satan wants you to fear this instead of trusting YHWH, full of love in your heart. The dark kingdom wants you to give in and give out! (“The False Shepherd and the True Shepherd“; “Life Healing and Belief“; Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 6:46-49, 8:21, Romans 2:13, Hebrews 4:11, Revelation 22:14)

“But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the Word, and not a doer, this one is like a man studying his natural face in a mirror; for he studied himself, and has gone away, and immediately he forgot how he looked.” – James 1:22-24, HRB

Discernment is the answer for continuing to walk in faith. This is done through the Holy Spirit. (Luke 12:57; John 7:24; Philippians 1:9-10; Hebrews 5:14; Hosea 4:6; 1 Samuel 16:7)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him. ” – James 1:5, ISR98

“For the Word of Elohim is living, and working, and sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through even to the dividing of being and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12, ISR98

When Elijah greeted the throngs of Israel that he had invited to Mount Carmel, their hearts were insensitive to YHWH, stone-faced to His challenge. The Jews during the ministry of Yahshua [Jesus] on earth, and many Christians today, are the same way. “Why should we care what you have to say or do?” They are desensitized by the world [kosmos, the decoration of man’s system] to the reality of YHWH and their need to have trust in Him. When Elijah proposed a showy witness, the thronging crowd agreed. After a full day and a miraculous show of power, Israel fell to the ground… “He is Elohim!” What does Yahshua [Jesus] say about those that insist on a miraculous display of YHWH’s power to strengthen their resolve? (“Abiding in Trust“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“)

proud pharisee“Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, ‘Teacher, we desire to see a sign from You.’ But answering, He said to them, ‘An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. And even as ‘Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights,’ so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.’” – Matthew 12:38-40, HRB

People are easily impressed with the spectacular, but it doesn’t necessarily sensitize the heart. Scripture says that the crowds in the day of Yahshua [Jesus] “marveled” and were “greatly astonished” at the things done in their midst. (Matthew 9:8; Mark 2:12; 5:42; 6:51; Luke 5:9, 26) The truth is that Yahshua [Jesus] has already done everything that He needs to do for Christians to do what we need to do. (Matthew 10:1, 8; Mark 16:16-20; John 14:12; 1 Corinthians 12:10-29) Christians must decide that they are willing to operate in trust. The Holy Spirit will do the rest for those willing to work with Him. (Mark 6:5-6; 11:22-24; Hebrews 11; Jonah 1:17; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “A Branch of the Vine through Trust“)

bad-drugChasing after signs and miracles to justify personal faith is not what Yahshua [Jesus] had in mind, even though signs and miracles are actually part of true Christianity. Signs follow those that believe, but not the other way around. (Mark 16:17; Acts 10:36-42; 20:7-12) Your faith is not justified by signs and wonders, nor does it secure your weak faith. Instead, seeking after signs can become a cheap fix, like a drug, that does nothing but build an excuse to go through the motions. What is worse, the devil can perform “miracles.” (Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; Revelation 13:13-14; 16:14; 19:20) Without discernment and prayer, those that chase after signs and wonders can easily be led astray. Despite all this, there are those that rationalize that extraordinary miracles will be common in the last days because of the antichrist or antimessiah. Taking scripture in context provides the answer rather than squeamish doctrine that fears the truth of Elohim. (“Doctrine Is What You Do“; “Living in an Apostate World“; “Break Down Walls of Darkness with Prayer“)

Today, the world is full of information like never before. Knowledge alone does not secure your personal faith and active belief in your heart and mind. Accurate knowledge is the beginning. You must make the Bible your very own, allowing His Word into your heart. A disciple can’t simply imagine that he has a handle on Elohim’s Word with great pride; sinking into comfort, or even worse, into a state of religious apathy while going through the motions of life. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-10) In Matthew 24, when responding about the last days, the first words out of the mouth of Yahshua [Jesus] were a caution that disciples needed to beware of being deceived by those that would claim to speak in His Name:

“And answering, Yahshua said to them, ‘See that no man deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah.’ And they will cause many to be deceived.’” – Matthew 24:4-5, HRB

“But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” – 2 Timothy 3:13, NKJV

“Do not despise prophecies, prove them all. Hold fast what is good.  Keep back from every form of wickedness.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22, ISR98

Regardless of what else Yahshua [Jesus] said about the last days of the dark kingdom, casting aside deception was how any disciple is to survive the perilous times of the age. In the end, Messiah expected his servants to stay awake and alert in belief so that they would not be entrapped by the dark kingdom. Those that were deceived, distracted or rebellious through their own self will would be separated from their Heavenly Father and without His favor in the end, weeping and gnashing their teeth in separation from Him as they meet their demise. He expects His people to be sufficiently spiritually mature to build others up and to run their own spiritual marathon to victory. (“The Great Tribulation & End Time Rapture“; “YHWH’s Faithful: Victory in Spiritual Battle“; “Knowing Where You Stand on YHWH’s Threshing Floor“)

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have guarded the belief.  For the rest, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Master, the righteous Judge, shall give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all those loving His appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8, ISR98

Disciples must cast aside unbelief, moving forward as a new man in Messiah, in order to overcome the unbelief of the dark kingdom. We must seek Him and His truth in prayer, spiritual discernment and lifestyle. Disciples must love truth and seek it. We must allow the Holy Spirit to renew us, making us more like Messiah. Yahshua [Jesus] promised that those that sought Him would find Him. That is the divine order today for genuine disciples of the Messiah. We earnestly trust that you are one of YHWH’s own that He is calling into service. (“The Unpardonable Sin“; “Understanding Sin“)

Our book, “The Miracle of the New Man” is a primer that reveals the bitter harvest that Satan has planted in the hearts of the world and likely into your heart. If you have experienced hurts and trauma, you need to remove the roots of darkness from your life.

Our book, “Two Kingdoms: Genetics of Spiritual Warfare”, goes into details about how your life, your health and eternal well-being are affected by hurt and trauma that you experience in your life. Also covered is the science of epigenetics and 15 sample prayers that break strongholds of Satan and the dark kingdom.

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
