The Bible has plenty to say on the matter of Christian conduct. Let’s start with the basics.
At that time the disciples came to Yahshua [Jesus] and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child and had him stand among them. And He said: ” At that time the taught ones came to Yahshua [Jesus], saying, ‘Who, then, is greatest in the reign of the heavens?’ And Yahshua called a little child to Him, set him in their midst, and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become as little children, you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens. Whoever then humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the reign of the heavens. And whoever receives one little child like this in My Name receives Me.’” – Matthew 18:1-5, ISR98
“Or do you not know that unjust ones will not inherit the kingdom of YAHWEH? Do not be led astray, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the corrupt, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous ones, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists shall inherit the kingdom of YAHWEH. And some of you were these things, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Master Yahshua, and in the Spirit of our Elohim.” – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, HRB
“Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, impurity, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, witchcraft, enmity, fighting, jealousies, anger, rivalries, stubbornness, divisions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and things like these; of which I tell you beforehand, as I also said before, that the ones practicing such things will not inherit the kingdom of YAHWEH.” – Galatians 5:19-21, HRB
“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of the Messiah and of Yahweh. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of Elohim upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. “– Ephesians 5:5-7, WoY
The danger of not inheriting the kingdom of YHWH is a reality that can and does happen to professed Christians. Disciples of the past were given warning repeatedly to keep them on guard. Disciples of Messiah need the same warnings and advice to continually heed scripture today.
While the world has standards and opinions that change continually, a disciple of the Messiah has a defined lifestyle laid out in the Bible through Elohim’s [‘God’] track of righteousness. The reality is that a Christian has standards that are applied to lifestyle out of love for YHWH and His sacrifice for us. The world hates the notion of standards or of living a life that isn’t grounded in selfishness and independence. The world seeks its own way.
“I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. ” – John 17:14-18
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” – John 15:18-21
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” – Matthew 24:9-14
These scriptures apply to all genuine Christians, not simply to a model of clergy or preachers. All disciples of the Messiah are to participate as active members of YHWH’s Kingdom, an example to the world as they set themselves apart from the dark kingdom. They do this out of love and do not quit as a result of a fear of failure.
The Word of YHWH is very clear that flesh and blood will not inherit the Kingdom of Elohim. The unrepentant are not Christians. When a person is regenerated in faith through the Holy Spirit, believing through trust by the favor of Elohim, he or she repents or turns aside continually from past sin. This new disciple is a new creation through Messiah and the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit]. A Christian is not perfect, but is completed in Messiah, seeking to live a repentant lifestyle by the loving-kindness of YHWH.
Genuine disciples of Messiah are washed by the Word into new life through spiritual cleansing and renewal in the Holy Spirit. (John 3:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:5) Disciples of Messiah are sanctified. Sanctification is an act of YHWH’s Spirit and an act of cooperation. Yes! This act of YHWH is a service of cooperation by sanctified servants and lovers of Messiah, first by removing the loyal from sin into a progressively closer and healthier lifestyle over time. This results in new behavior, which a transformed life always produces. This is victory that overcomes the world and the old man. Instead of reaping a dominance of sin, genuine Christians replace the broken patterns in the old man with a new pattern of obedience, thoroughly washed by Word and Spirit. Messiah and the Holy Spirit makes the new man complete. This life is a new direction, being conformed to the image of Yahshua [Jesus] and justified through faith [trust]. Christians that believe and receive Messiah through the Holy Spirit show this dedication as personal fruit in their lives. They are now clothed in Messiah’s righteousness. Yahshua [Jesus] made this possible for you and me. (Romans 3:26; 4:22-25; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:8,9; 1 Peter 3:18). The Holy Spirit, your Counselor, is the agent of your transformation (John 3:3-5). What favor to be renewed in Messiah and Spirit!
