People commonly associate good health and life with eating right. People love to eat. In starting the day people often eagerly plan their life around what they are going to eat, fully considering this as part of a good life and comfort. This is food for the body. You can tell what lives are like based on food that people eat. In the same light, you might plan for your financial health after years of planning in a system of investment. You hope that you will be able to retire in a successful manner. Do you ever plan for spiritual food? (“Healing & Health Articles“; “Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“)
The Bible supports a better life and is spiritual food that sustains life, even eternally. Are you feeding on worldly food or YHWH’s spiritual food? Do you have a healthy spiritual body? You are a spiritual being that has a soul and a body. Your spiritual health depends entirely on what on what you feed your spiritual body. Your spiritual health also impacts your soul and your body. It is good to eat the fruit of the Word. (“Family Stress Affects Generations“; “The Antichrist & the War on Reality“; “Your Refuge is Important“)
Are you cleansed daily by the washing of the Word, the spoken Word of scripture and active faith? “Husbands, love your wives, as Messiah also did love the assembly and gave Himself for it, in order to set it apart and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, in order to present it to Himself a splendid assembly, not having spot or wrinkle or any of this sort, but that it might be set-apart and blameless. ” – Ephesians 5:25-27, ISR98
Untold numbers of Christians associate this scripture with baptism focusing simply on washing with water combined with tradition. Most scholarly tradition equates washing or the Greek word “loutron” with the water of baptism derived from Jewish cleansing rituals. As the Son of YHWH, Yahshua [Jesus] was not in agreement with the cleansing rituals of the day and spoke about the leaven of the Pharisees and the Jewish priestly class. This leaven would not be voluntarily imported into a trusting and properly grounded Christianity. The context of scripture indicates that the Apostle Paul is not discussing words exchanged at baptism, a baptismal pool or a traditional baptismal ceremony of any kind. (“Deceptions of Ages: How People are Deceived“)
While the Apostle Paul’s reference might seem to allude to baptism, the context of scripture and his discussion indicate something more. Context also indicates that Paul is comparing by example. Husbands must love their wives as Messiah gave himself up for the His people. Messiah is the perfect example of selfless love and devotion. He is the perfect model for husbands, wives and families. To return that love and devotion involves mutual submission and respect between husband and wife based on the model between the Messiah and His body of people (assembly, congregation). This indicates the love and respect that Yahshua [Jesus] has for His disciples. Do you really show love and respect for Yahshua and the provision of the Holy Spirit, or simply say you do? (“Agape: Discipleship is Renewal“)
The Apostle Paul doesn’t stop there. How are Elohim’s [‘God’, YHWH] people and wives to be cleansed and loved? YHWH’s people are to be cleansed by washing with the water of His Word. This cleansing is not a one-time event that baptism is unless you wish to propose that baptism through Elohim’s Word is an ongoing process in the life of a sanctified disciple. In that case, continual baptism or immersion in Elohim’s Word would hold true to scripture and what Paul was discussing. Either way, scriptural context indicates that trust and salvation is not a one-time event, but an active process of life and living. Paul is referring to the continual cleansing power that continues through scripture as that Word is applied to the lives of YHWH’s people. The word that Yahshua [Jesus] spoke over us, we are to speak over each other as words of faith and accurate knowledge. The regenerating power of faith is not in baptism, but though the active application and use of Elohim’s Word through the expression of active trust through accurate knowledge and the power of the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit]. This expression of faith promises salvation.
Accurately understanding this first century outlook challenges the understanding of many religions and denominations regarding true trust and the relationship of baptism to salvation and personal trust. Remember that salvation is a result of active trust (Luke 4:18; 10:16; John 14:12; Ephesians 6:16-17), a process of washing, even immersion in that trust.
The continual washing of YHWH’s Word continually sanctifies the disciple of Messiah to loyally and eagerly serve YHWH in His purpose for the earth. (Galatians 3:27; Romans 6:3) Otherwise, the Christian cannot be fully sanctified to YHWH’s purpose or function adequately along with Elohim’s people to satisfy His Will in the last days. This makes not only an argument for baptism, but continually being bathed in YHWH’s Word to cleanse and sanctify. A continual cleansing with the Word results in a healthier life attitude and a richer quality of life with solid relationships.
“Consider the lilies, how they grow, they do not labor, nor do they spin, but I say to you, Not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these. But if Elohim so dresses the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much rather you, of little-faith? And you, do not seek what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, nor let your mind be disturbed by these things. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of YAHWEH and all these things will be added to you. Stop being afraid, little flock, because your Father was pleased to give you the kingdom.” – Luke 12:27-32, HRB
The kingdom of YHWH is not only His authority over his obedient subjects as His kings and priests, but includes His victory through the Savior, Yahshua [Jesus] over the dark kingdom in the world [kosmos] we live in. (Matt 12:28; Luke 1:68-75; 11:20) Accurate knowledge of scripture and active trust allows sanctified Christians to successfully overcome demonic or worldly strongholds in the mind, body and soul. This is the freedom in Messiah that Yahshua [Jesus] speaks about. (Colossians 1:10-15; John 8:32; 10:9; 14:6)
“The Spirit of YAHWEH is upon me and because of this, He has anointed me to declare the good news to the poor. And He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted and to preach release to the captives and sight to the blind. And to free those who are oppressed with forgiveness, to preach the acceptable year of YAHWEH.”” – Luke 4:18-19, HRB
That freedom works to remove the influence of the flesh, legalism and deception along with the control and power of dark forces. As disciples of Messiah, we are commissioned to be “children of light” (Ephesians 4) resulting in greater freedom from sin through accurate knowledge of scripture and to share the truth with others as part of the good news. (“Understanding Sin“)
We can be thankful. You and I can be thankful that YHWH has given us another day when awaking. How do you start your day when each day is new? How will you start your new day of life? Are you making it new or living in the ways of the world? Many prepare for a day of work as a way of sustaining life. Others prepare for school as a way to enhance life. How many consider their Heavenly Father, much less His Word, as their significance or the main means to sustain life? How many live the truth of scripture, knowing fully the healing balm that Elohim and His Word are? (“Life Healing and Belief“; “Healing Wounds That People Can’t See“)
Having a truly powerful and meaningful spiritual life walk and relationship doesn’t need to be a dream that only a few live. Billions have been deceived. Yahshua [Jesus] admonished His disciples not to be deceived ahead of all else in His prophecy regarding the last days. (Matthew 24:4) You have the power to allow change in the soil of your heart by allowing change in you by cooperating with the Holy Spirit and removing worldly strongholds in life and conduct. This process is discussed in our book:
