Jabez is remembered for a prayer request rather than a large act. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10) In his prayer, he asked Elohim [‘God’] for these things:
1. to bless him,
2. help in his life and work,
3. to be with him in all he did,
4. to keep him from evil and harm.
Jabez honored YHWH as the true center of his universe. How wonderful and appropriate that your prayers always honor YHWH as the Head of your life’s work and purpose. How much better can you do than to honor Him in your daily responsibilities by obeying the truth that you know as you continue to seek Him and His Will? (“Break Down Walls of Darkness with Prayer“)
Jabez prayed specifically to be protected from harm and pain. Did this make him a coward or a fearful man? Hardly. This stand showed his great faith, a large act in a dark world. You and I live in a fallen world full of greed and sin. What is more important than to ask YHWH to protect you from the evil that is ever present, an evil that is almost certain to come your way?
Part of this depends on you. Corrupted motives, desires and actions ultimately begin with you and I, in the heart, the innermost parts. Your Heavenly Father will continue to carry out His Will. To unite your purpose with your Heavenly Father puts you in harmony with His Will and Purpose. (“Refining Your Heart“; “Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“)
Every person on earth has value. YHWH created mankind in His image. YHWH’s sanctified servants must always stand against racism, wherever it may occur. I was raised in the kind of atmosphere where racism was the norm. Years ago, who would have thought that the United States would have a black president? Before the election, millions rallied around him, even as he toured Europe. This was shocking for many people. Many Christians sought to unseat him and generally criticize. This is not our job as disciples to be political animals, or to prop up the world. Disciples are to guide others to truth and expose unrighteousness. Our purpose is to pray that Bible prophecy plays out and that YHWH’s Will is fulfilled. (“Scripture, Slavery & Racial Bias in this Age“; “Trust YHWH, Not World Leaders“; Ephesians 5:11)
“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all men, for sovereigns and all those who are in authority, in order that we lead a calm and peaceable life in all reverence and seriousness. For this is good and acceptable before Elohim our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one Elohim,1 and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah Yahshua [Jesus]” – 1 Timothy 2:1-5, ISR98
Yet, as Elohim’s sanctified elect, disciples of Yahshua [Jesus] are to be no part of this world [kosmos] of corruption. Instead, they are to be set apart to YHWH, through Messiah and the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit].
“I have given them Your Word, and the world hated them because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in Your Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You have sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world, and I fear for their sakes. I sanctify myself so that they may also be sanctified by Truth.” – John 17:14-19, HRB
The Apostle Paul tells you and I that we are “not to use the world to the full” and Apostle John confirms, being “no part of the world” is not to love the “things in the world”, and the showy display of prosperity. Instead, disciples are to cling to YHWH, to bear the fruits of the Spirit, love their brothers and sisters of like faith, to continue to seek accurate knowledge, as well as being willing to help others outside the faith. Sanctified disciples of Yahshua [Jesus] must separate themselves by their conduct and life example, proving YHWH’s Spirit to the world. Disciples must not want things that please selfish and sinful desires of the flesh, a “lifestyle of mammon” over empathy and consideration for others. You and I are to trust in Elohim and not to look to the world. This is how disciples of the Messiah are to be “no part of the world” in line with the words of Yahshua [Jesus]. (“The Antichrist & the War on Reality“; “Mind Control of the Beast“; “Do You Live a Lifestyle of Greed?“; “Disciple: The Pattern of Your Life“)
YHWH is able to save you from the corruption and deception of this world, so why would you want walk the other way? YHWH is never frustrated by a turn of events or action of man. You may believe that you must influence the politics of this world. You may fight what you see as right for a moment in time, apart from YHWH. You may see your views as validating your Heavenly Father’s Kingdom, with the expectation of bringing that Kingdom about on earth. This is a common mistake. You may be fighting YHWH’s design through your limited human viewpoint. You and I can be content in one fact: when you trust YHWH, you will not fear what people may do. Be confident in His control.
What Jabez said seemed so simple. Yet, what he asked for spoke volumes about his heart and trust in YHWH. (“YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“; “Are You Ready to Meet Your Father?“; “YHWH: The Choice to Stay Loyal“)
