Yahshua [Jesus] and His apostles were firm on the matter of death. The dead simply sleep and return to life through the power of the Resurrection. (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6; Isaiah 8:19; John 11:11-14; John 5:28-29; 1 Corinthians 15:12-22, 51-54) This sleep is unconscious, a sort of suspended state until YHWH resurrects. It’s that simple, not complex like some religions say it is. (“Filling Your Life with Truth Instead of Deception“; “Spiritual Growth or Spiritual Death“; “Deceptions of Ages: How People are Deceived“)
“Encounters with the dead,” through mediums, witchcraft and the like, were forbidden and continue to be forbidden.
“There shall not be found in you one who passes his son or his daughter through the fire, one that uses divination, an observer of clouds, or one fortune-telling, or a spell caster, or a magic charmer, or one consulting spirits, or a wizard, or one communicating with the dead. For all doing these things are an abomination to YAHWEH. And because of these filthy acts YAHWEH your Elohim is expelling these nations before you.” – Deuteronomy 18:10-12, HRB
The single Bible account that involved such an attempt was inspired by King Saul of Israel as his faith spiraled into decline and apostasy. (1 Samuel 28) He consulted a witch in the vain attempt to invoke the spirit of the dead prophet Samuel. Instead of the prophet (naturally), a demonic impostor appeared. The end result was one of tragedy and loss for Saul. Why? (“Living in an Apostate World“; “YHWH’s Revolution“; “The Idolatry Factor“)
“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” – 2 Corinthians 11:14, NKJV
Satan would love for you to believe that the dead are still alive, inhabiting the earth and the heavens. He wants you to believe in the “Ghost Whisperer,” and the fabrications of false religion. He wants you to substitute falsehood for true faith with your own brand of “replacement theology.” (“Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“; “The Antichrist & the War on Reality“)
Belief in the immortality of the soul, independent from YHWH and His resurrection, is a vain attempt to cheat death. Because of this belief, men and women around the world, even those that profess Christianity, believe in communications from the spirits of the dead. Christianity isn’t immune from this corruption because billions have been willingly encouraged to bring superstition and pagan religion into their faith while calling it true faith. Even the Protestant Reformation did not undo the spiritual damage that the Roman Catholic Church and other false religion brought about during the “decline of the Roman Empire” and the “Dark Ages.” (“Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “Ongoing Corruption of Christianity“; “Consenting to Fables of Men“; “Disciple of Messiah: Wavering Between Two Opinions“)
Immortality of the soul apart from YHWH’s resurrection counters Bible truth that the soul is both the human body and breath of life. The soul lives only as the body lives. (Genesis 2:7; Psalm 146:4) Furthermore, Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah didn’t sacrifice Himself for nothing. If mankind is immortal why would Messiah come? There would be no need. Christians must not believe in the immortal soul, a pagan tradition incorporated into a universal or Catholic church a very long ago.
“For though we do live an earthly life, yet we do not serve worldly things; for the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but of the power of YAHWEH to the demolition of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every false thing lifting up itself against the knowledge of Elohim, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Messiah” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, HRB
What you take into your mind bears much fruit regardless of who you are. Contemplating things of the world desensitizes your mind and heart to YHWH and the truth of His Word. (“Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)
You must understand that “Master Yahshua [Jesus] Messiah… gave Himself for our sins, so that He might deliver us out of the present evil age, according to the will of our Elohim and Father” (Galatians 1:3-4, HRB). Disciples are directed to “…to keep oneself unstained from the world” (James 1:27, ISR98; Matthew 13:22, Luke 4:5-6, 14:33, Romans 12:1-2, 1 John 2:15-17)
“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with Elohim? Whoever therefore intends to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of Elohim.” – James 4:4, ISR98
Instead of having YHWH as your stronghold, you can easily build your own brand of religion and faith as your stronghold. These false strongholds become powerfully entrenched in your heart and mind, like military forts that are resistant, even impregnable to truth. Your personal argument against YHWH’s Word can become so fortified in your mind, that He will leave you to your own reprobate mind. (Romans 1:28-32; Romans 1:22-27) Through what you take into your mind, you build a soft heart toward YHWH or a hardened heart against Him. It’s that simple. (“Strongholds & the Armor of YHWH“; “Who Is The Stronghold of Your Life?“)
