Confessions of a former corporate addict
How many of us fail to consider the life-changing power of the Bible, to grasp the personal meaning of scripture? Because of the recent financial onslaught, many of us are unemployed or living on limited incomes through retirement. There are times that we struggle with our physical needs and desires. Yahshua [Jesus] told us 2,000 years ago exactly what we should do. (“Opposing Fear“; “Abiding in Trust“; “Choosing to Serve YHWH, Not Man“)
“No one is able to serve two masters, for either he shall hate the one and love the other, or else he shall cleave to the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve Elohim and mammon [materialism]. Because of this I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you shall eat or drink, or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than the food and the body more than the clothing?
Look at the birds of the heaven, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into storehouses, yet your heavenly Father does feed them. Are you not worth more than they? And which of you by worrying is able to add one cubit to his life’s span? So why do you worry about clothing? Note well the lilies of the field, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin, and I say to you that even Shelomoh in all his esteem was not dressed like one of these. But if Elohim so clothes the grass of the field, which exists today, and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more you, O you of little belief?
Do not worry then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For all these the gentiles seek for. And your heavenly Father knows that you need all these. But seek first the reign of Elohim, and His righteousness, and all these matters shall be added to you. Do not, then, worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow shall have its own worries. Each day has enough evil of itself. .” – Matthew 6:24-34, ISR98
As Christians, most of us say that we trust Elohim [‘God’]. You might even want to say that you put His Kingdom first because you are a Christian. You believe. But do you really?
Let me use myself as a modest example. I was taught to be self-reliant and to plan ahead. This industriousness was supposed to lead me into a life of prosperity that I thought I understood. Everyone: society and even the Bible, seemed to proclaim that throwing yourself into your work would bring its own reward. At least, that was what the religion of man said. I was an independent businessman for many years and did well. I thought that I was a Christian and did a pretty good job of looking like one. Even so, what I really did was to concern myself with money while pretending that I believed that my Heavenly Father provided it. I gave YHWH lip service, but my heart trembled without ceasing. Where money and provision was concerned, fear ruled my heart. I was a slave to fear, to money and the approval of others, especially within the corporate structure of executives. While I looked to live with YHWH’s Word in my life most of the time, the old fears that I had learned remained in my life. (“Fear & YHWH’s Protection“; “Delusion & the Tightening Noose of the Beast System“; “Bible Prophecy and the Rise of the Corporation“)
In the workaday corporate world that I used to live in, performance was everything. If I wasn’t self-reliant growing up, I grew to become what the world said was self-reliance. I put my trust in a system of take-charge politics and endless multi-tasking. I was great at it. I didn’t recognize that I was enslaved by the work and the financial system created by man. The means of success that the world teaches became my friend, even while I was saying otherwise as a Christian. I thought and said that I put ‘God‘ in first place, but because of my fear and lack of emphasis on YHWH’s Kingdom in my basis of life, I actually lived in the dark kingdom of the world. I fooled myself. I had put my Father in a box of my own making, even while I proclaimed that I trusted in Him. (“The Image & Mark of the Beast System“; “Are You a Christian First or Last?“; “Leadership & Highly Effective People“; “YHWH’s Promise to His Elect“; “Holy Spirit 101“; “The Idolatry Factor“)
The conditioned behavior of putting ‘God’ in a box is easy to continue when your eyes are on the world and what other people want. You become convinced that you want and need the same things. I looked to supply my needs through my own wise planning and the financial system of the world. The world told me that I would retire fat and happy if I lived success their way. Then came the financial crisis brought about by bankers and Wall Street speculative trading. All my planning came to nothing as Satan and the system sought to destroy my life through the kingdom that I had trusted in. The promises of the world proved to be useless. I had lived in the Kingdom of self like everyone else in the system did. Satan, through the world system, wants to break your faith or to make your forget it. The world system doesn’t care. It simply seeks compliance. As for me, I had not truly trusted in the provision of my Father or His Name. I had actually believed the lies of the world as YHWH’s provision. I had failed to fully appreciate that YHWH continues to meet personal needs through relationship with Him, sealed through the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit]. (“Mind Filters“; “Mind Control of the Beast“; “Renewing Your Mind“; “YHWH’s Revolution“; “News: Hyperinflation & False Teaching“; “Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“)
Giving in to the Most High YHWH is seen as failure in the eyes of the world, but this viewpoint isn’t true. YHWH doesn’t judge you or me as failures, even when you are humbled in the world. He continued to take care of my needs, in ways that I never expected. He will take care of your needs if you are willing to put your trust in Him. Perhaps you have not been ravaged by the collapse of the nation’s economic system. You may feel that you have been impacted very little because you are either “gainfully employed” or living on your pension, but you certainly know about the pain and fears of others around you. Millions of people that believe they are “God-fearing Americans” claim that they trust ‘God’ while relying on the political, financial thinking and planning of the world. Some use the excuse of good stewardship while their Heavenly Father is a distant second or third place in their life. In the process, modern thinking has reduced Elohim to a creature of our own making. Christians have come to put a Christian smiley face on things of the world. Even in adversity, YHWH has lessons for me, for you. Are you willing to listen? When you look at your own life, the ultimate question remains: Are you willing to abandon the fear taught by the world and put YHWH’s Kingdom first so that He can add all these other things to you? If the government was to fail and we were to lose our pensions, even our livelihood, who would you trust in? Who do you trust in now? “And immediately Yahshua [Jesus] made His disciples get into a boat and to go before Him to the other side until He should dismiss the crowds. And having dismissed the crowds, He went up into the mountain alone to pray. And evening coming on, He was there alone. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was against it. But in the fourth watch of the night, Yahshua went out to them, walking on the sea. And seeing Him walking on the sea, the disciples were troubled, saying, ‘It is a false vision!’ And they cried out from the fear.
But immediately Yahshua spoke to them, saying, ‘Be comforted! I AM! Do not fear.’ And answering Him, Peter said, ‘Master, if it is You, command me to come to You on the waters.’ And He said, ‘Come!’ And going down from the boat, Peter walked on the waters to go to Yahshua. But seeing the wind strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, ‘Master, save me!’ And immediately stretching out the hand, Yahshua took hold of him, and said to him, ‘Oh you of little-faith, why did you doubt me?’ And coming into the boat, the wind quieted down. And those in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Truly, You are the Son of Elohim.’” – Matthew 14:22-33, HRB
Today, Yahshua [Jesus] walks on the waters of mankind in the hope of attracting your attention. He operates in miracles every day if you are willing to see them. Is your Savior an apparition or a person that you put your faith and trust in? Even Peter, transfixed by the waves of the storm, experienced fear and doubt which began his sinking into the watery depths. Whether we like it or not, in the flesh, you and I are just like Peter. Doubt and fear can get the best of us when the pressure is on. At some point in life, we have denied Messiah just like Peter did. YHWH knows our flesh and the ability for momentary lapses. Yet, through storm-tossed moments in your life, your Savior is there in the waters to hold you up even as you feel the waters of humanity closing in on your sinking frame. Yahshua [Jesus] rebuked Peter. He rebukes all of us, out of love to compel us to believe. He wants you to live for Him, to believe outside the box of your past human experience. He wants to save you just like He lifted Peter up in the waves. He wants more for you. He wants you to prosper, to abide in Him. Your Master will not leave you, nor will he forsake you. What will you do? (“Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“; Standing Strong Through Storms“; “Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “YHWH’s Protection in Difficult Times“)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. ‘A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.’” – John 14:15-21, NKJV
