Which Shepherd Do You Believe?

by John and Ruth Greene

“Yahshua [Jesus] therefore said to them again, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to slaughter, and to destroy. I have come that they might possess life, and that they might possess it beyond measure.’” – John 10:7-10, ISR98

sheepfold doorYahshua [Jesus] is the door to His sheep pen, to truth. (John 10:1) Robbers and thieves that are rooted in the devil will climb into His sheep pen, declaring ‘faith and abundance in Christ’ in what they say. What they speak is of themselves and a word of death, another gospel. They do not have access to the green pastures where the Messiah leads His people. They are pretenders that proclaim that they have special knowledge. Anyone that enters any other way has come to steal, kill and destroy just as Satan and his demons do. (Luke 11:23) Remember the wheat and the tares. (Matthew 13) Anyone that enters by the true knowledge and Spirit of Messiah will be saved. (“The False Shepherd and the True Shepherd“; “Good Shepherd – Bad Shepherd“)

green pasturesWhat Yahshua [Jesus] says has more truth to bear for interested disciples. His sheep do not stay in a pen of confinement, but Messiah leads them out to green pasture through the Holy Spirit (John 10:3), to spread the good news of His Kingdom and to live with Him, yes, even to abide with Him in a real spiritual sense. The Holy Spirit is the One that opens the door for true success, sounding the ministry of the Messiah firmly into hearts through true Bible knowledge and authority. The Holy Spirit continues to ensure success in living the love of Messiah through prayer and obedience. (John 16:5-16) That is the grace of YHWH. (John 15:9-17; “Holy Spirit 101“; “Leadership & Highly Effective People“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“)

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. But the hireling, and not being a shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees. And the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. Now the hireling flees because he is a hireling and is not concerned about the sheep. I am the good shepherd. And I know Mine, and Mine know Me…” – John 10:11-14, ISR98

teaching truth or fiction? Many pretend to be shepherds for the Messiah. A hireling may ply his religion with the face of the Messiah, leading those followers after him. Both the hireling and the follower may ‘claim Christ’, but didn’t enter through faith in the Messiah through truth, but through faith in elements of the world or through the teaching and traditions of man. (Ezekiel 34) A hireling or false shepherd (pastor, reverend, father, etc.) may be leading others in religion, but not in truth. Such a leader is likely to be leading for money and not from brotherly love. Much of Christianity has come to be all about money; business that supports buildings and religious infrastructure that a body of religion uses for worship and education in their doctrine. (“Abiding in Trust“; “Christianity: A Crisis in Prayer & Spirit“)

When the going get tough or the money gets tight, the insecure hireling either raids and abuses the lost sheep or leaves the sheep to their own devices. Either way, the sheep can be easily separated from YHWH, the teachings of the Messiah and the real power of the Holy Spirit because they depend solely on the hireling for their spiritual sustenance. They have no spiritual root. In the same way that Satan seeks to scatter the sheep, hirelings can scatter YHWH’s people, through intent or otherwise. Yahshua [Jesus] has spiritual rights to each man and woman. He bought disciples with His blood. (1 Corinthians 15) Right relationship, evidenced through lifestyle and trust in Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah, not a pastor or other leader is what saves. The Messiah knows His sheep and His sheep know Him, relying on Him. (“Are You Rejecting YHWH’s Holy Spirit?“; “Truth About the Modern Concept of Pastor“: “What is God’s “Church”?“)

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. But he who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The doorkeeper opens for him, and the sheep hear his voice. And he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he has brought out his own sheep, he goes before them. And the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. And they shall by no means follow a stranger, but shall flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” – John 10:1-5, ISR98

Every man or woman of faith (Bible knowledge based on personal knowledge) is commissioned to be a shepherd rather than a pew sitter or a follower that remains a baby Christian. Are you an unbeliever or a baby Christian? Where is your belief leading you? (Romans 10:2) If your belief does not lead you to active discipleship and maturity, you are deceived and face ruin eternally. Remember, that real belief spurs action. That means that you are commissioned to be a shepherd. You certainly don’t want to be a false shepherd! (“Beware of False Teachers & Disciples“)

roots-of-salvation-image-300x300A true shepherd has roots of faith firmly grounded in YHWH’s Word along with personal commitment to His Word. True shepherds enter by the door who is the Messiah. These shepherds of truth must enter the sheepfold through Messiah alone. A shepherd of truth is not a loner, but becomes an extension of the Messiah, as all the true sheep of the fold follow Him. The Messiah calls His own sheep by name through the voice of those that are true shepherds through YHWH’s Word and His Word alone. (“Roots of Salvation“; “Foundation of Salvation“)

Jesus in the desertThe role of truth requires Messiah’s sheep to follow Him instead of simply mimicking another shepherd or disciple. True disciples are shepherds that follow Messiah alone with knowledge of His Word. They recognize the voice of corruption, the voice of the stranger. They see truth and falsehood through discernment. A disciple and shepherd of truth would never follow a corrupted shepherd or message. This discernment is acquired through a process of growing in spiritual maturity, prompted by our teacher the Holy Spirit, not through worldly wisdom or spiritual tradition. (“Discernment: Having an Ear to Deeper Understanding“; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“; “Consenting to Fables of Men“)

“I am the good shepherd. And I know Mine, and Mine know Me, even as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold – I have to bring them as well, and they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one flock, one shepherd. Because of this the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life, in order to receive it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to receive it again. This command I have received from My Father.” – John 10:15-18, ISR98

jesus teachingHere Messiah mentions the addition of all other nations to the fold of believing Jews. He shed His blood for all that are willing to listen and then to press His Word into action. There is one flock and one shepherd through Yahshua [Jesus]. How many shepherds and flocks do you see today? Christianity has been thoroughly divided by Satan through the opinions of man. All faith does not lead to the same place, for faith requires accurate understanding through YHWH’s Word rather than traditions of man. (John 8:32; Colossians 1:9) That is why no expense should be spared at finding Bible truth and making it your own. (“Spiritual Disease that Eats at Your Salvation“; “The Need to Keep Spiritually Clean“)

Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah came into the world to cure spiritual blindness, but Satan and a world of complicit men and women have blurred the boundaries of true faith, even dulling the senses of belief where billions are concerned. In this day, more people appear to be concerned about the food in their stomachs and their health than they are about what they believe.

“And Yahshua [Jesus] said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those not seeing might see, and those seeing might become blind. And those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind, too?” Yahshua [Jesus] said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, ‘We see,’ therefore your sin remains. ” – John 9:39-41, ISR98

phariseeThere is a larger lesson to learn where the Pharisees were concerned. In fact, the entire passage in John was inspired by the vanity of the Pharisees. They did not believe in anything except for the rituals and logic of the law covenant that they followed. They followed their own wisdom combined with the covenant of Moses, bathed in their own self-righteousness and authority. They were bound to tradition and their own methods of thought. The Pharisees professed to see, to understand what Yahshua [Jesus] was saying. As a result, they were judged by the ritualized thinking, religious wisdom and rejection that they kept in their hearts. The same is true today. Upon death or Judgment Day, whichever comes first, each and every man and woman is judged by the attitudes of the heart and mind. Do you have it in your heart to follow and obey the Messiah or do you have it in your mind to seek religion under false pretenses? Only you can decide. (Matthew 10:22; Luke 8:13; “Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “Video – Wisdom of YHWH, Wisdom of Man“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
