In the days of Jeremiah, the kings and many people of the nation hated the prophets. The prophets constantly reminded many in the nation of their lack of loyalty and love toward YHWH. (Jeremiah 2:31-37) The same words may have their sting of rebuke among many in this day, even those whose hearts are listening. (“A Lifestyle Message from Jeremiah“; “A Hidden Lifestyle Message from Messiah“)
“They say, ‘If a man lets go his wife, and she goes from him and will be for another man, will he return to her again? Would not that land be greatly defiled? But you play the harlot with many lovers; yet would you come back to Me,’ says YAHWEH.” – Jeremiah 3:1, HRB
The law and practice of the Jews was that if a woman were divorced by her husband and became the wife of another man, the first husband could never take her again. In the eyes of YHWH, the nation of Israel had been married to Him in spiritual covenant. They took an oath to serve and love Him alone. While individuals did follow Him, the nation of Israel turned aside, adopting idolatries in abundance. On spiritual grounds, idolatry is spiritual whoredom to YHWH. The practice of the Law Covenant illustrated the case that Israel could never be restored to Divine favor. YHWH, the first husband, through His loving-kindness, was willing to receive this adulterous spouse back if she was willing to abandon her idolatries and return unto him. (Matthew 7:1-2; “Leaven of the Pharisees; Leaven of the World“; “Divorce: Modern Family & the Authority of Law“)
The people of Israel, as a group, were unloyal in every way possible, lying in wait for the opportunity to prostitute spiritually without apology. As a result, much of YHWH’s favor was withheld. The reader might find it hard to decide whether the image of the brazen prostitute is comical or revolting. The words the prostitute used in scripture smacks of outright stupidity. In the same way, the people of Israel wanted to do as they pleased while enjoying the favor and relationship of the past. The people of Israel minimized and excused their spiritual dalliances. They refused to make changes and chose to keep sinning through false worship and false hearts. (Jeremiah 3:2-5; “The Idolatry Factor“; “Living in an Apostate World“)
“YAHWEH also said to me in the days of Josiah the king, ‘Have you seen what the apostate Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every green tree, and has fornicated there.’” – Jeremiah 3:6, HRB
Many of Israel had taken to satisfying their religious practices by sacrificing their children to false idols under groves of trees. Israel, as a people, had adopted a thoroughly debased lifestyle and YHWH was forced to leave them to a reprobate mind. YHWH provided the Assyrians to take Israel into captivity. The separated nation of Judah paid little attention to the plight of Israel, even though YHWH thought disobedient Israel was more righteous than the hypocritical people of Judah. (“Are You In Danger of a Reprobate Mind? Sexual Sin and YHWH“; “Spiritual Disease that Eats at Your Salvation“)
The people of Judah preferred to go through the motions of religious activity. Their religion brought them comfort, but YHWH was not in their hearts. They were captives to ritual. To YHWH, they were lukewarm, repulsive. Even when faithful king Josiah reigned and cast aside much of the false worship by force, the hearts of the nation were largely unmoved. Because of this YHWH pronounced judgment on the nation that held His heart as descendants of Abraham. (2 Kings 23:25-27; Jeremiah 3:6-11; Revelation 3:16-17; “Do You Give Leftovers to Messiah?“)
YHWH was willing to take them back during the early years, if only they would turn aside from idolatry to Him. While individuals did repent, most of the nation did not. They were unmoved by the pleadings of the prophet and the love of YHWH. (Jeremiah 3:12-13) YHWH wanted to find anyone that would step out for His Name to lead the nation with knowledge and understanding. Few did. The same applies today. Even now, YHWH’s people should only consider those that honor Him through teaching His Word through the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit] instead of looking to the world and religious advice of the world. This includes using the power of prayer to pray for the nations that YHWH’s faithful fall under in this time of the ‘last days.’ May all of YHWH’s people hold His wisdom and not that of the world! (“The Importance of Practical Repentance“)
“On account of this it is of belief, that it be according to favor, for the promise to be made certain to all the seed, not only to those who are of the Torah, but also to those who are of the belief of Aḇraham, who is father of us all – as it has been written, ‘I have made you a father of many nations’ – in the presence of Him whom he believed, even Elohim, who gives life to the dead and calls that which does not exist as existing…” – Romans 4:16-17, ISR98
This is exactly what YHWH does in the case of each of His people. He continually seeks to breathe life into the dead, calling things as though they were, bringing His people into reality, into life through His Word and Spirit.
The nation of Israel had learned to enjoy the presence of a beautiful temple. They began to fall in love with the trappings of what they saw. Even the ark of the covenant had effectively been made into a national idol. They saw the ark as their significance and source of power in the place of YHWH or as Him. YHWH was not the ark. At this time, Jeremiah made an astounding prophecy. The ark of the covenant was to be removed from His people, never to be restored. Those Jews that claim to be His people should be aware of this prophecy. YHWH is the source of all nations of people. The ark of the covenant will not be restored. At the Second Coming, all that have become His people will not look at anything for their significance except to YHWH, Elohim of Hosts. (Jeremiah 3:17) They will not objectify or demean Him. This is direct prophecy of what YHWH’s people must look to at the conclusion of the ‘last days.’ Nothing else will do.
His people will be renewed in the fullness of Messiah instead of the stubbornness of their hearts. Instead of looking to oppressed Jews in modern times coming to a physical nation of Israel, YHWH has larger plans. YHWH will gather His people to a renewed earth and heavens, made perfect through His Son Yahshua [Jesus] at the conclusion of the last days of man rule. Truly, our Father treats us as sons as He brings us to Himself spiritually and with full provision that we must have. Our Father has the “most beautiful inheritance of any nation.” (Jeremiah 3:19; “Tribulation of Israel: The Great Escape“)
Israel was disloyal. Judah was disloyal. YHWH’s people must not be the same, or they do not belong to Him. (Jeremiah 3:20) Ultimately, He abandoned Israel, and at the crucifixion took up spiritual Israel, opening His Kingdom to all those willing to listen in the world. (“Disciples: Focused on the Messiah & His Purpose“)
A cry is heard among those that profess faith, but are far from Him in heart. Compare this cry to the weeping and gnashing of teeth, of those that you have rejected as they wail, ‘O Lord!’ (Jeremiah 3:21; Matthew 13:41-42, 49-50, 24:50-51; Luke 13:28) These hypocrites of the heart have perverted their ways!
Those that are true of heart and renewed through the Messiah will go only to YHWH, not to the hills and mountains of Babylon. (Jeremiah 3:22; Luke 12:47-48; 1 Peter 4:17; Revelation 14:6-9, 18:4-5) They do not look to governments or to religion of the world. Focused only on the truth of the Most High, there will be no backsliding, only repentance. Despite the idolatrous commotion on the hills and mountains among the leaders of men in the last days, the salvation of all disciples will be in YHWH, the Heavenly Father through Yahshua [Jesus] and the Holy Spirit! (Jeremiah 3:23; “Video: What is Idolatry?“)
Yes, modern disciples have seen it! Shameful gods have consumed the fruits of the labor of generations past. Souls have been lost to the perversity of Satanic influence. People have supported the perverse instead of the Divine. Generations have remained in bondage instead of freedom in Messiah because they have observed the precepts of religion instead of the Holy Word of YHWH. That is no longer the case for those that cast their cares on Him, trusting fully in His Name. (Jeremiah 3:24-25; Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7; “Freedom from Spiritual Bondage“)
YHWH’s people no longer put trust in idols and ideas of man’s creation as they did in the past. Instead, they make their ways straight and walk on YHWH’s track of righteousness. (“YHWH’s Track of Righteousness” )
What does YHWH want from you? Jeremiah said that YHWH’s people must break up the hardness of their hearts as a plow breaks up unplowed soil that hasn’t been tilled for a season. (Jeremiah 4:1-3; Mark 4:1-25; Luke 8:4-18; “Disciples of Messiah and Spiritual Fruit“; “What Is Washing By The Word?“) The words of Yahshua [Jesus] remind the reader, “For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Matthew 7:2, NKJV
Disciples of the Messiah must remove the crust of sin and pride that hardens the heart before the good seed of YHWH’s command can take root and crowd out the old seed of the world. Old habits and conditioned behaviors are hard to break. Only YHWH’s Word and the healing power of the Holy Spirit will make disciples whole. None of this is possible without the Messiah. We need to sensitize our hearts to YHWH, His Spirit and His Word, without apology. The land is your heart. The cities are the roots of your life. YHWH must be your stronghold, your fortified city. Don’t lose heart, keep yours! There is still time! (“Disciple: Abomination That Causes Desolation“; “Ya Gotta Have Roots!“)
“Declare in Judah, and make it heard in Jerusalem, and say, ‘Blow the ram’s horn in the land.’ Cry, the end and say, ‘Assemble yourselves and go into the cities of defense.’ Lift up a banner toward Zion. Flee for safety and do not wait. For I will bring evil from the north and a great ruin. The lion has come up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place to make your land a waste. Your cities will fall into ruins without one living in them.” – Jeremiah 4:5-7, HRB
YHWH’s people will be united, set apart to Him and made into a new ‘land’ of disciples, a new ‘nation’ to declare His praise! This is in direct opposition to those in this world that glorify the thrill of wealth, competition and pleasure. The world ignores the sin that is tied to these thrills! Instead, the world upholds it, fatally deceived by their mindset. These are the ones that are walking on the wide road to destruction. (Matthew 7:13-14) When you pursue sin, you are destroyed by it. You don’t need to learn from experience while reaping a deadly harvest. Trust the Word of YHWH. (“A Mind of Envy and Competition“; “Understanding Sin“)
