Knowledge of Good & Evil

by John and Ruth Greene

unbrotherly-love-wAt times, other people, even your family, may treat you with disrespect. However, you can be certain of your essential dignity and value. Why? You are created in the image of your Heavenly Father, YHWH.  How do you know? The Bible says so. (Romans 7:24-25, 8:2; 1 Corinthians 2:16) When the original parents of mankind were created by YHWH, they were without sin. This changed when they disobeyed Him. They chose to eat from a forbidden tree, the ‘Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.’ (Genesis 2:8-9, 15-17) The name of this tree implies that evil had already occurred, after the fall of Satan and his demon hordes. (John 8:44) The result of their personal disobedience was that they, as well as mankind that has descended from them, have come to the knowledge of good through the knowledge and experience of bad. (Matthew 5:11-12) Much of scripture is written in this way, comparing the bad with the good. Many people take exception to this, because they are continually reminded of the negative, even the negative within themselves. However, the negative is how every man and woman of faith can identify with the righteousness of YHWH. This is the difference between the world of the dark kingdom and the Kingdom of YHWH. You become set apart to your Heavenly Father alone. As your own person, you have a choice to make as well. You can’t have both. Multitudes of people have emerged from the ravages of the world, so in this way they can appreciate and understand the goodness of YHWH. (Romans 8:28, 35, 37, 12:21; “Becoming Your Own God Through General Goodness?“; “The Struggle of Kingdoms Involves You“; “Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“; “Strongholds & the Armor of YHWH“)

This doesn’t spring from some religious idea of perfection as so many teach. This is about understanding and the roots of relationship with YHWH. Sin separates just as Satan does. Why? Because Satan is grounded in that sin! We have now and always will have the accountability to YHWH, the decision that we make for or against Him. This isn’t about feeling guilt or shame, nor is it about punishment. Life is simply about doing what pleases YHWH. This isn’t a mystery, because He tells you, and every man and woman, what makes Him happy. Knowing all of this helps you to think more carefully about the choices that you make. Everyone can relate to this. As you live with the consequences of the choices that you make, you are able to grow spiritually, albeit the hard way! When and how you listen to the Almighty is your choice! (Deuteronomy 30:19; Jeremiah 21:8; “Understanding Sin“; “Do You Take Sin For Granted?“; “Roots of Salvation“; “Overcoming Satanic Attack“)

punish-wYHWH wants you to obey just as He has offered to every man and woman through generations. (Psalm 34:17) You have the freedom to choose. Without that choice, freedom is hollow. Today, you have the same choice. You aren’t a robot. The world of man has both good and evil. It’s the fruit of the original choice of Adam and Eve. Mankind thinks in terms of reward or punishment and can identify with all of this. YHWH’s Kingdom is about being part of His Kingdom, not about being anxious and fearful about punishment. It’s about love for YHWH. Religions the world over are grounded in the reward and punishment of man. Trust in YHWH, however, is more than identifying reward and what seems good to you. Trust in YHWH is a new way of thinking, a separation from sin of the past: repentance. (Ephesians 4:22-24) Your focus isn’t solely on self, but on impacting others in a positive way and leaning on YHWH for all matters in your life. But this is just the start, not the end. (Deuteronomy 1:21, 20:4; Isaiah 26:3; Matthew 11:28; “The Importance of Practical Repentance“; “Truth About YHWH’s Wrath“; “Your Eternal Reward?“)

repentanceIn this world, temptation is common to man. What is important to consider is that temptation is in the eye of the beholder. What tempts you may not tempt someone else. Why? Everyone is different. While people always have essential needs, what sways a person in the course of their life can be vastly different. (Luke 22:40, 46) The charge of a disciple is to reflect the character of YHWH and His authority over your life. Having a worthy goal is great, but trying to achieve it through wrong is like a political candidate that pays off a judge to be voted into office. You can’t effectively make a wrong with a right. As soon as you leave your Heavenly Father out of your life plans and goals, you place yourself above Him. This is the kind of idolatry that Satan loves. You may love it too, at least for the moment…that is until the consequences come full circle. Once you give into temptation that fruit of rebellion is grounded in your life, which can spur more of the same. (Proverbs 10:16, 22:8; 1 Corinthians 10:13, 15:57; “YHWH’s Revolution“; “Road of Truth“; “The Journey of Life through Scripture“)

candy shop-wHave you seen something that you want? Certainly you have! Do you need it though? Temptation is always the predecessor to sin, separation from YHWH. (2 Timothy 2:22) The reality of sin is that the effects of that sin spread. Covering that sin with more sin magnifies, not reduces sin. What is also just as natural is involving someone else in that departure from YHWH. (Ephesians 4:26-27; 1 Timothy 6:9; 2 Timothy 4:18; Hebrews 2:18; 12:3, 13:5) Relieving any feelings of guilt or shame is like dumping toxic waste in the river of life. The problem is that the river is yours, a problem that compounds itself over time. That same river of life also pollutes others around you. Stopping that spiritual contamination might seem impossible, but this is hardly the case. That is simply what Satan and dark kingdom would like you to believe. Why? This creates a stronghold, a bondage that continues to delude you. You come to believe that the past is impossible to reverse. Your trust in anything, perhaps even in yourself is broken. This brokenness is exactly where Satan wants you. A defensive posture is often the result, leading to self-exaltation. (Deuteronomy 28:36; James 4:7-8; 1 Peter 5:8-10; 1 John 3:8; 1 John 4:4; “Two Kingdoms: Genetics of Spiritual Warfare“; “The False Shepherd and the True Shepherd“; “Which Shepherd Do You Believe?“; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“)

Self-exaltation always leads to rebellion against YHWH. As soon as you leave YHWH out of your plans, you have already put yourself above Him. The clever part about all of this is that Satan knows that once you have done this, he has you in his clutches, furthering the life struggle that you will have when you don’t rightly divide YHWH’s Word in your life. Sin isn’t picky. It simply is a departure from the Will and Purpose of your Heavenly Father. (“The Kingdom of YHWH and the Drive for Self-Importance“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)

haughtyBillions of people couldn’t care less because they have never known YHWH except perhaps in the most basic sense. Could that be you? If so, the Bible makes it easy to see your way clear, not by looking at others, but by learning directly from the source. Since the sacrifice of the Messiah, you are directly and personally linked to YHWH through Yahshua [Jesus] without the need for the services of a priesthood, a clergy, a pastor, or a temple full of animal sacrifices. Instead, the congregation or gathering of YHWH is designed to help you to draw strength from others like you, as well as through learning and prayer through the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit]. That strength works both ways of course. You also give others strength through honesty and spiritual integrity. Perfection isn’t required. Even better, when you are involved with the righteous gathering of the Messiah, you can even ask for prayer support or whatever you need. (1 Corinthians 10:13; “Heavenly Father Has A Name“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“; “Knowing Where You Stand on YHWH’s Threshing Floor“)

The spiritual toxins that flow in the world affect everyone. Guilt and shame are merely symptoms of a larger problem grounded in fear. (Proverbs 26:2; Jeremiah 5:25; Isaiah 59:1-2) Instead of looking at symptoms, how much better is it to look at the cause. Instead of using a pain killer to numb the symptoms, treating the disease is much more effective. So it is with separation from YHWH. It is easy to look at the symptoms without ever dealing with the root of bondage that is grounded in the world around you. Symptoms of spiritual disease make you aware of your departure from YHWH, allowing you ask Him for forgiveness, as well as to make adjustments in your life in line with His Word. (Mark 11:23-24, 2 Corinthians 2:10-11; Ephesians 6:13; “Living in an Apostate World“; “The World, Your Emotions and Your Health“; “Video: Love of the World“)

shock-awe-wImagine trying to cover every inch of your body with leaves, imagining that this will relieve the symptoms of separation from YHWH! (Galatians 5:16-17) Imagine two people trying to hide from an all-seeing, all-knowing Father that already knew what had happened. You can never get enough leaves to do the job! It’s an almost comical picture. Yet, this is exactly what our forbears did. The attempt was to hide what they did because of a sense of guilt for separating from their Father and shame in dealing with the strong feelings of regret. After following the shining deception of Satan, their answer for being separated from YHWH’s light was to cover themselves with a light of their own. They were in an impossible position to defend, but that didn’t stop them from trying. They didn’t have the courage to own up to their mistake. (Matthew 22:38-40) The good news is that this doesn’t need to be the way you deal with your life or the mistakes that you make along the way! When you aren’t full of pride, you can easily approach YHWH and in His eyes, be in exactly the same place that you were when you started. That is what the sacrifice of Messiah was and is all about. It’s about forgiveness and your willingness to forgive yourself for the error! (1 John 4:18; 3 John 1:4) It isn’t about assigning blame. Courage says that you already know where the blame resides. This courage in sharing with YHWH opens up an honest dialogue that can only strengthen your relationship with YHWH. (Ephesians 6:10-17; 2 Thessalonians 3:3; 1 John 5:3-5; Ephesians 3:19; Revelation 3:21; “Adam, Eve & the Shining One“; “The Wheels of Ezekiel“; “Understanding Sin“)

Your Heavenly Father had a good reason for doing what He does, including with what He does with you. Don’t you think that your Heavenly Father speaks to His people? He certainly does, but that is a topic for another day! (“Holy Spirit 101“; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “Are You Rejecting YHWH’s Holy Spirit?“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
