In this nation that we call the United States, roughly twenty one percent of the American population is legally disabled. Corporate thinking rails against the system because many in this nation believe that nobody should be entitled to anything except to work themselves into the ground whether well or sick. Is it for the benefit of an elite system? That depends on your view point. However, ‘corporatists’ would have you believe that you should not help a man that is down. (Ecclesiastes 4:10; John 5:7-9, 15:3; 1 John 3:17-19) That is for ‘someone else’ to do. Lazy people shouldn’t eat unless they work you hear others reason. Even the helpful hands of government are steeped in corruption, misinformation and outright abuse. The fact is that the government has stepped up to do what the church and society would never do with the prevailing winds of national attitude. As individuals, many proclaim blessings for self, but would deny any blessing to others. In America, we are promised the pursuit of the myth of an ethereal happiness and liberty, but the scars of injustice and human rights abuses continue behind the scenes as life is lived out every day. Real efforts to cleanse the system don’t exist because futures hang on the corruption and distortion of the system.
To answer the catcalls of the ‘corporatists’ and entrenched business, some of the disabled have never worked and have never earned a penny. However, this part of the disability structure actually falls under another category, even as it obviously flows from the same fountain of money. The government ‘of the people, by the people and for the people’ has borrowed from the United States taxpayer and robbed from the future of the nation for plenty of other things of far less value. In fact, because of this fiscal mismanagement and the prominence of government lobby, the reality of life may have cast another lot for this nation out of the hard-hearted attitudes of millions. That lot of selfishness has certainly been the demise of the foundations that the nation believed that it was founded on. This deception and selfishness may well be its destruction.
Still, the real crime remains in those that have worked, earned and paid for their benefits that have been assured, even been guaranteed assistance, even as they have been continually rooked by the system along the way as they toil ceaselessly in their lives based on the norms of society. Despite the pain, misery and early death of many disability applicants, the system continually finds a way to tax and remove benefits off the top, regardless of any just award that a judge may award in court. This is to the benefit of a corporate court system that enriches itself. The ‘logic’ of the system is heavily flawed and yet it remains the same. Both are ways of the world. When a person becomes injured or contracts a disease that disables, that person is subject to the laws and ways of a system that is largely interested in perpetuating itself. This reality is not the nation that romantic notion proclaims. Even patriotic self-interest cannot right the wrong. (Proverbs 16:18)
Many folks would say that the disabled are ‘lucky’ to get anything, and in essence, this is true. However, pretending to award something that will be taken away is a mockery of humanity and of justice. A system that pretends to have balanced scales while using false balances is not only immoral by world standards, but counter to the ‘laws of God’ (if that matters to you of course). (“Financial Usury & Bible Truth: Lending, Giving & Borrowing“; “A Survival Kit for Christians“)
In the United States, when you apply for ‘Social Security Disability Insurance’ benefits through any definition of law, regardless of what the judge awards and how deserving you are, you may be surprised that Social Security keeps the first 5 months of back benefits that the judge awards you. This is referred to as the ‘5 month waiting period,’ even though it may be as much as six months. Authority says that if you were awarded benefits back to January 1st, ‘Social Security’ actually keeps the benefits for January through May. Your disability insurance benefits will start in June. Like it or not, that is how the system works!
You do things their way and they make certain that you know it in writing. You wait and suffer for years, assuming you survive the gauntlet. It’s about intimidation and humiliation. (Proverbs 25:2; Hebrews 13:6) For years you have paid into the system. You have paid your dues. The glib television ads of attorneys say this often. Having been disabled, you are likely to have suffered years as you tried to take care of yourself the best you could, if you could. Hopefully you had someone that supported you during this time, otherwise you were destined to live on the streets or in a shelter while you waited. You and your family, if they stayed together despite the odds, suffered greatly as you filled out government forms with tight deadlines and felt as though you were languishing in wait. Assuming you have been privileged to have a supportive and loving wife, husband, or relative that really has cared, you now look forward to better help with your recovery with a victory that must surely come. (2 Peter 2:9; 1 John 5:14-15)
Disability Insurance benefits can only be paid 12 months prior to what is known as a ‘protected filing date’ (PFD). When your PFD is January 2009, at most you can get benefits back for one year. If your ‘alleged onset date’ (AOD) is January 2008, ‘Social Security’ applies the 5 month waiting period (keeping your benefits for January through May) and your benefits begin to paid six months later. Either way, you lose many months that the judge entitled you to, that is, if you believed him or her for what was promised in court. (Revelation 18:1-5)
Basically, it all comes down to what the authorities want to do since they are in authority. They wield that authority as they have designed it. To many that administer this authority, it’s a mystery why the Social Security Administration requires this 5 month waiting period, a topic they would rather not breach. Many believe that it is just a way for the Social Security Administration to save money. Lawyers might pose that this is a way to make sure that only people with long term disabilities will apply or whatever stopgap explanation can be mustered. The truth of the matter is that this is how the corporate system pays the bills and makes a profit. (“The Continuation of the Empires“; “Bible Prophecy & the Rise of the Corporation“; “The Image & Mark of the Beast System“)
In this world system, if the ‘Administrative Law Judge’ decided that a disability claimant became disabled on March 15, 2009, the five month waiting period benefits would begin on September 1, 2009. Another example: if the claimant filed for disability on January 1, 2009, but alleged to be disabled since May of 2007 and if the judge finds that the alleged onset date is correct, he or she is only allowed to grant an onset date 17 months prior to the filing date. So in the theoretical case we have cited, the actual onset date would be August 1, 2007. After the five month waiting period, this particular claimant would begin benefits on January 1, 2008. They get a pound of flesh no matter how it stacks and attorney fees will be paid out of your award. The government corporation that tries the case receives reimbursement for each case. In a day, it’s a real money-maker for corporate government and pseudo-government institutions. To top off matters, you will likely be required to secure an attorney to get a dime. Happily, your attorney probably won’t get 33% or more, since his or her fees are strictly regulated.
All this does not make authority right. We know that man often dominates man to his own injury. (Ecclesiastes 8:9) Many pass away with little or no help. Your Heavenly Father does not advocate this sort of treatment or abuse. In this world, all you need to do is to lose a job as you fall on hard times or lose your job because you can’t work (illness, disease and the like) to reap a sad harvest of circumstance and perhaps, loss of life. Even when you win your disability victory, the government and society continues to take advantage of your plight in any way possible. YHWH, your Heavenly Father isn’t that way. (Proverbs 14:31; 1 John 3:17-19)
Since most of us pretend, even fiercely hold, that we live in a Christian nation, the words of Yahshua [Jesus] aptly apply here. (Matthew 7:1-2; 1 John 1:9) As a disciple of the Messiah, forgiveness is not an option, but a person has to be man or woman enough to follow it through. (Matthew 6:14; Galatians 5:1; Ephesians 5:2; Colossians 3:14; 1 John 2:10; Romans 15:7) One truth that the sanctified disciple can rest on is this: justice will be executed on the abusers of others. That much is promised to YHWH’s beloved. Unhappily, when you become dependent on a system that is destined for abasement, you virtually guarantee the same lot in your life when you allow abuse and lack of belief to weigh you down. The government won’t be cleansed of all unrighteousness. A pure-hearted renewed and santified disciple will. (“Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“; “Renewing Your Mind“; “Disciple: The Pattern of Your Life“) You must rise above ignorance and prejudice or reap the same fruit as the authorities. When you are willing to believe in YHWH’s protection, the Bible spells out provisions for healing in spirit and body. What you are willing to receive will also determine your life in the future.
