Messiah Teaches about Fruit in the Lives of People

by John and Ruth Greene

fig-bearing-fruitTake heed that you separate yourselves from false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravening wolves. You will know to mark them by their fruit. Does anyone gather grapes from a thorn, or a fig from a brier? In this way, all beneficial trees bear honest fruit, but a worthless tree bears harmful fruit. A beneficial tree cannot bear harmful fruit, neither a worthless tree bear honest fruit. All trees that do not bear honest fruit are cut down and cast into fire. In this manner, by their fruit you will know them.” – Matthew 7:15-20, direct translation

For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” – Luke 6:43-45, NKJV

False prophets were common in the times when Messiah was on earth and they have been common through the ages into today. These prophets and teachers often prophecy whatever people around them want to hear (or what they think the audience wants to hear), claiming their ear-tickling as ‘God’s message.’ (2 Timothy 4:3-4) All need to beware of those that use contrived religious words, and those that are motivated by money, all of which are fruits of the world rather than fruit of YHWH’s Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:4) Money, fame and power rule the roost in this kind of teaching (“Are You Living a Lifestyle of Greed?”; “What Lifestyle Are You Pursuing?“).They cleverly minimize the Master and glorify themselves in His place. It is important to evaluate teachers’ words by examining their lives in general. This isn’t about witch hunts. Naturally, teachers aren’t any more perfect than others. They have made mistakes in the past, just as everyone else has. Every man and woman is subject to sin and the ravages of sin. Because of this truth, all disciples must show mercy to others, just as they would desire to receive that mercy in return. (“The Antichrist & the War on Reality“; “Being Set Apart Makes You Aware of Sin“)

thinking-black-woman-smNevertheless, all disciples become consistent in the fruit that they bear. Just as trees are consistent in the kind of fruit they produce, good teachers continually exhibit the character of YHWH and the Master, exhibiting high levels of their character. As they live out their lives, their life fruit is apparent and visible, rooted in the qualities mentioned at Galatians 5:22-23. (John 15:1-27, John 13:35; Matthew 25:1-46) Bad teachers and shepherds teach false doctrines or stretch Bible truth so that they can bear the fruit that they want to bear. (1 John 4:1; Hebrews 4:12, 5:14; Ezekiel 34; “A Doctrine of Demons“; “Doctrine Is What You Do“) You must grow to be spiritually mature enough to discern the motives of teachers and preachers around you, including the results that they are seeking.  This includes teachers of all kinds with earthly pedigrees. The Messiah is our ‘pedigree,’ not education from the world. (Hebrews 6:1-20; 1 Peter 2:2; James 1:22-25; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“; “Discernment: Having an Ear to Deeper Understanding“) Are the teachers you know teaching directly from the Bible or straight from a magazine or pamphlet? You should beware of anyone that doesn’t use scripture and encourage you to do the same, regardless of the extra time that reading directly from the Bible might take in a study or lesson.

false-teacherA genuine teacher of the Messiah wants you to grow to spiritual maturity rather than enforcing the idea that you must be dependent on someone else. Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. Sooner or later, you can discern the quality of the personal witness of anyone. On the other hand, you should not be afraid of the label ‘hypocrite’ in your personal life. A Christian that tries to do right, but fails is not a hypocrite. Weakness is not hypocrisy either. At the same time, you cannot hide your trust in YHWH under a basket. (Matthew 5:14-16; Luke 16:15, 18:9-11; Mark 4:21) You must express your trust and love for what YHWH and the Messiah have done for you. Hypocrisy is religious behavior that is used to gain attention, approval, acceptance or admiration from others. (1 John 2:9, 4:20; Matthew 6:1, 7:2-5, 15:7-9; Luke 20: 46-47; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; “Woes of the Hypocrites“; “Consenting to Fables of Men“; “Foundation of Salvation“)

Obeying YHWH is like building your house on a strong foundation that stands firm when storms come. When life is calm, your foundation doesn’t seem to matter. When crisis comes your way, your foundation is tested. Be certain that your life is built on the solid foundation of accurate Bible knowledge, trust in the Master and the power of the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit] rather than religious thinking and denominational doctrine that twists YHWH’s Word and tickles ears. (2 Peter 2:1-3; 1 John 2:4; Psalm 5:9; Romans 16:18) You know this by studying the Bible for yourself and seeking after your own personal trust in prayer, in relationship and accurate knowledge, and the power of the Holy Spirit in your life and conduct. This overflows from your heart and into the lives of others through the love that flows from the touch of YHWH. All of this is where salvation has its’ real power in your life, and into eternity, as you become more like your Master, Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah! (Luke 6:46-49; Matthew 7:21-23; “Standing Strong Through Storms“; “Life: Are You Building on Sand?“)

bible-light-2The focus of your spiritual attention is not on others, but on yourself and your personal walk with YHWH. While lots of pastors give your personal ‘walk in faith’ plenty of lip service, the truth is that dependence on Messiah and spiritual maturity scares them because they are diminished in their perceived authority and power, and risk losing the capital necessary to keep a church building and the trappings that often go with it. Always remember that Yahshua [Jesus] the  Messiah is your mediator, your High Priest, and the focus of your promises through obedient faith in YHWH, Elohim of Hosts. (1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14, 5:1-10) You know disciples of Christ by their fruits, which are clearly evident on the outside for the world to see. (“Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“; “Truth About the Modern Concept of Pastor“; “Beware of False Teachers & Disciples“; “Knowing Where You Stand on YHWH’s Threshing Floor“)

Another mark of a mature disciple of the Messiah is in the area of attitude and lifestyle. Mature disciples are not critical and judgmental. They realize that how they judge others, they will be judged in return. This is an awful prospect that always backfires in the end. (“How YHWH Marks His People“)

“For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged. And with the same measure you use, it shall be measured to you. And why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the plank in your own eye? Or how is it that you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the splinter out of your eye,’ and see, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to remove the splinter out of your brother’s eye. Do not give what is set-apart to the dogs, nor throw your pearls before the pigs, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” – Matthew 7:2-6, ISR98

Disciples of the Messiah always seek Bible truth and right relationship with YHWH through Messiah and the provision of the Holy Spirit. (“Are You Running Away from Messiah?“; “Filling Your Life with Truth Instead of Deception“)

Ask and power to you. Seek and find. Knock and it will open to you. For all that ask take, and seek find, and knock, open up. But what man of you is grudging, that if his son asks for bread will hand him a stone, or if asking for a fish hands him a snake? If you then being evil know the power of gifts to your child, how much greater your Father in heaven will grant benefits that ask Him? Certainly the whole as much as you are inclined to believe that men should agree with you, agree you even in this manner with them, because this is the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 7:7-12, direct translation

Not everyone that professes Christianity will be saved. The plight of the world and that worldly fruit is destruction. Only a comparative remnant belongs to YHWH or even knows His name or the character of that name. (Matthew 24:1-51; Romans 9:27-32. 11:1-5; “YHWH Has A Name“; “Understanding Sin“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“; “Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“)

Enter in through the narrow gate. Because wide is the gate and spacious the road, put to death through destruction, and many, by their reason, agree to enter. For narrow is the gate and troublesome is the road, the one that leads to life, and few agree to obtain it.” – Matthew 7:13-14, direct translation

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
