“Oh let the evil of the wicked come to an end; and You will establish the just; for the righteous Elohim is a trier of hearts and reins…Behold, he is bound with iniquity and he will conceive mischief; and he has fathered falsehood. He dug a pit and bored it, and has fallen into the ditch he made. His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violence shall descend on his own crown.” – Psalm 7:9, 14-16, HRB
Many times, because of the hurts and struggles in life, you take your heart back to protect you from trauma. When things look like they will never change for the better the temptation is to withdraw your support. Let’s face facts. When you are hurt, your heart is the deepest level where you remove your support. It removes your feelings and emotions, at least the positive ones. Intimacy and closeness become impossible. In some cases this is good. You need to withdraw from behavior that harms, whether you or someone around you. You don’t need to be part of the problem by adding to the hurt so you step back. The real problem in modern society is where family is involved. Seceding your heart is a common scenario that happens through the continuous abuse from the wickedness of men and women, no matter who they are. The real problem is when you become embittered and hateful, taking on the attitudes and emotions of the world. You become twisted and wicked like those that abused you. In this way, you may withdraw from everyone because of real injury to you. Your heart hardens and you don’t care. This is self-destructive behavior that can endanger your soul, and your standing with your Heavenly Father. (“Refining Your Heart“; “Book: Affairs of the Heart“)
YHWH searches the mind and heart of every man and woman. Nothing is hidden. This seems strange because in the quiet of your own heart and mind, you probably feel very much alone. You assume that nobody knows what you are thinking or feeling. This is true with one exception. Your Father, YHWH, knows you. (“Hardened Hearts: Strengthening the Brotherhood in Messiah“; “Mind Filters“; “Renewing Your Mind“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“)
You don’t need to be embarrassed or shamed. He knows your thoughts and inner most workings by default. He knows you aren’t perfect. YHWH’s Spirit cuts past the pretense and hiding. He wants the love of your heart, your innermost devotion. He seeks the same for you. When your heart belongs to YHWH, it seeks Him. (“Properly Directed Prayer is Potent“; “Holy Spirit 101“; Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “The Holy Spirit (Ruach ha’Qodesh)“)
The prayer of an honest man:
“O YAHWEH my Elohim, I seek refuge in You; save me from all who pursue me, and deliver me, lest he tear my soul like a lion, ripping, and there be no one to deliver.
O YAHWEH, my Elohim, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands, if I have repaid evil to one at peace with me or I have plundered one oppressing me without cause, let the enemy pursue and overtake my soul; yea, trample down my life to earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.
Arise, O YAHWEH, in Your anger; be lifted up at the rage of those distressing me; and awake for me! You have commanded judgment. And the assembly of the peoples shall surround You, and over it You will return on high.
YAHWEH will judge the people. O YAHWEH, judge me according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity on me.” – Psalm 7:1-8, HRB
The prayer of the honest man is the heartfelt ramblings of King David during trial and tribulation. He was passionate about his trust, even as he was passionate about the oppression he was enduring. He trusts the judgment of YHWH over man and is unapologetic about this. As the honest man, his heart was clean before YHWH. He sought peace and wanted the same. He trusted and valued the judgment of his Heavenly Father. He seeks the integrity that only the knowledge and obedience to YHWH can give. Since he was pure of heart, he would be judged accordingly and he trusted in this. The wicked of heart and action would reap their own judgment and were responsible for their own actions. Evil destroys itself. The pure of heart are protected from this. (“Disciple: Victory in Spiritual Battle“; “Victory Over Wickedness“)
Let’s elaborate. This song is full of passionate emotion. The temptation of the world and the heart of evil man are to want and seek revenge. When people mutter and murmur against you as they did King David (1 Samuel 24:9-11) he didn’t rail against them. He went to YHWH in prayer. He put matters into YHWH’s hands. (Romans 12:19; Hebrews 10:30; Deuteronomy 32:35-36) In the same way you and I can give each personal case to our Heavenly Father, to bring justice and to maintain and restore personal relationship with Him. You don’t need to lose your testimony by striking out in anger or by taking matters into your own hands. (“Understanding Sin“; “Anger: When Your Temper Flares“; “YHWH First: Your Life Is Your Testimony“)
YHWH is your shield, your prayer covering, your protection when you abide in Him. He doesn’t relent against the wicked. He wages war against them everyday until the Coming of Messiah! (Psalm 7:10-13) Thank Him for His Presence in your life! (Isaiah 42:1-6; “YHWH’s Prayer Shawl of Protection“; “The Power of Prayer Depends On You“; “Being Set Apart Makes You Aware of Sin“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)
