Leadership & Highly Effective People

by John Greene

“Do your utmost to present yourself approved to Elohim [‘God’, YHWH], a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15, ISR98

leadershipLeadership is many things to many people. In the world of this day, leadership is usually directly tied to ideas of power, authority and success. As a disciple of the Messiah, leadership is firmly grounded in relationship with Elohim through His Word, scripture that is set out in what we know to be the Bible. Any quality known as leadership springs directly from your own personality combined with Bible understanding and your relationship with YHWH and His promise, as well as the influence of Yahshua [Jesus] through the Holy [Sanctified, Set Apart] Spirit. Many would try to deny this, but to deny this truth is to deny the power of YHWH altogether. When that happens, you put yourself firmly in the shoes of a world that is slated for destruction, a world that seeks selfish and personal interest over all else, an idolatry that is roundly condemned in scripture. (Luke 18:18-30; 1 John 5:19, 21; Colossians 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10:14; Exodus 20:3-6; “Your Need to Keep Spiritually Clean“; “Video: What is Idolatry?“; “The Idolatry Factor“; “What is Washing by the Word?“)

Some Christians have opted for what has recently been called ‘servant leadership,’ which is pointed out through scripture:

“And Yahshua [Jesus] called to them and said to them, You know that the rulers of the gentiles are their masters and their nobles are in authority over them. But it will not be so among you. But whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:25-28, HRB

“And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:44-45, NKJV

the example of the MessiahMany have believed that through their employment, whether through worldly corporations or otherwise, that they would be able to be a witness of Yahshua [Jesus] to others. Whether this has been possible depends on the disciple and who the disciple works for and their tolerance or outlook in the ‘things of God.’ This is a huge, even impossible task when you work under the authority of man, especially when working for a person or body of people that put profits before all else. That is why many work for themselves; so that they can maintain their integrity before their Heavenly Father. (Ephesians 4:11-16; Isaiah 42:16; 2 Chronicles 15:7) Still, some have seen their sacred witness amongst the commerce of man as viable and worth the effort. (2 Corinthians 5:17; James 1:12; Titus 1:2, 3:5; Romans 6:23; Galatians 6:7; “The Bible & Higher Authority“; “Disciple: Where Do You Place Your Trust?“; “Trust YHWH, Not World Leaders“; “The Magi of this Age“)

success of the worldInstead of using scripture from the Bible as their base, many have elected to use the books and learning of this age to supplant (substitute) that scripture, however carefully. Many have bought into the ideal of ‘principle-centered learning.’ This ideal says that empowerment energizes and changes the whole system where people live and society in general. When leadership models traits like integrity, honesty and trustworthiness, it is deemed that other people will automatically develop these qualities. Within this philosophy, it is said that successful people are proactive rather than reactive. This effectiveness is considered to incremental and sequential. The habits of ‘highly-effective’ people are said to be solutions for healing, making powerful claims about how lives can be changed by adhering to the principles set out. All people need critical self-examination, and only through this honest examination can real change be brought about. It’s personal and there is no substitute for that. While reality is subjective, through the looking glass of scriptural understanding of the Bible, reality is refined and redefined through YHWH’s track of righteousness. (Acts 2:38; James 1:21-27; Philippians 2:13; 1 John 2:16; Romans 5:1-23, 13:8-10; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13; 2 Corinthians 11:14; “Your Purpose in the Body of Messiah“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“; “Bible Prophecy & the Rise of the Corporation“)

success the world's wayThe long-term fruit of this ‘highly-effective’ philosophy has not proved itself by the standards of Elohim, but has only served as a tool of manipulation for opportunists that seek the advantage for themselves. The reasoning of this ‘highly-effective’ philosophy is human, even humanitarian and appealing to some, but not the stuff of YHWH. Even by the admission of the now-deceased author, Stephen Covey, everyone that follows his program must volunteer their hearts and minds to a mission statement that everyone buys into. The adherent must buy into a corporate philosophy, not to the power of scripture or even an all-knowing Almighty Father. In effect, the ‘highly-effective’ person must buy into propaganda, an overarching philosophy, a prescription. This prescription is designed and summarized by a man in the name of profit and efficiency, and in the name of forced or imagined unity. Instead, this ‘highly-effective’ philosophy stands as a substitute for YHWH’s Word, easily detached from the Messiah and easily made or formed into the next faddish idolatry, even one taught in the ‘church.’ This philosophy imagines that suffering cannot be a teacher and that ‘good is always positive.’ Philosophers of this sort have often been explicit about the validity of their ideas through a ‘Judeo-Christian’ ethic, which has been high-jacked and redefined by political and corporate purveyors of influence across the world. This is another philosophy wrapped around a productivity model of performance, which makes it a sweetheart of those that derive their power from performance and ‘socially impressive accomplishments.’ (Luke 16:10-11; John 16:33; James 1:12-15, 4:10; Romans 12:1-2; Psalm 1:1-6; Proverbs 3:5, 16:3, 20:7-10; Isaiah 41:10; 1 Kings 2:3; Deuteronomy 8:18; “Secret Deception of the Golden Rule“; “Politics of Pride“; “Knowing Where You Stand on YHWH’s Threshing Floor“;  “YHWH’s Revolution“)

“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” – Matthew 16:26, NKJV

sticky worldly successFighting your way up the corporate or political ladder of human success is in opposition to what YHWH stands for. Professed Christians in this age often forget about this reality. Your Heavenly Father’s standards are higher than man’s, but also different. (James 2:19; Isaiah 54:17) Success in the eyes of the world is not success in the eyes of YHWH. He is looking to see whether you follow Him in very little or very much; or whether you are take notice at all. Where you place your trust and whether you listen to His promises is what YHWH looks for. The purpose, the main focus of a Christian disciple is to spread the Good News, even as we respect the views of others. All else, including leadership, springs from spreading accurate teaching of scripture to the world. (Matthew 6:25-33, 28:18-20; Hosea 4:6; Proverbs 29:18) It’s not the other way around or by putting world standards first, and then by adding ‘God’ to it. (Matthew 18:18-20; Luke 10:10-13; James 4:8; Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 23:1-6; Deuteronomy 30:19; “The Kingdom of YHWH & the Drive for Self-Importance“; “What is the Standard of Life Conduct in a Disciple of Messiah?“; “Culture: Prompting Falsehood Through the Lie“)

“For He says: ’In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6:2, NKJV

free from captivityThe enemy can be at the door in a battle of spiritual warfare and yet your Father in heaven prepares a table where there is peace, a land without confusion. That is because YHWH and sacrifice of Yahshua [Jesus] is sufficient for your every need. As you live daily in the pleasure of Elohim’s favor, you have a fresh anointing for each day. (Psalm 90:17; Philippians 1:7) Each member of YHWH’s body is grounded in the Messiah as a priest for good works as he or she presents personal life to the counsel of the Holy Spirit. (Revelation 1:6, 5:10; John 14:26; 1 Peter 2:5, 9; 1 Thessalonians 4:8) In this way, you are anointed with the oil of joy one day at a time, a vessel of love consecrated to YHWH. (Isaiah 61:3; Hebrews 1:9) Each of us has a choice to make day by day. You will not be forsaken. (Zephaniah 3:17) The love of YHWH is new each morning and continues all day long, as long as you live and even if and when you don’t. That is your promise and His grace with a condition. Is your personal leadership grounded in the Kingdom of YHWH and His provision for all time? If not now, when? (Ephesians 6:11-12; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; James 4:7; 1 John 5:14; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Psalm 37:27-29; 84:11, 91:1-16; Deuteronomy 28:7; “Cultivating YHWH’s Grace as You Seek Truth“; “The Grace of YHWH’s Vineyard“; “A Matter of Grace“; “Going through the Valleys of Difficulty“)

“Elohim is spirit, and the ones worshiping Him must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:24, HRB

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
