“O Timothy! Watch over that which has been entrusted to you, turning aside from the profane and empty babblings and contradictions of the falsely called ‘knowledge,’ which some, having professed it, have missed the goal concerning the belief. Favor be with you…” – 1 Timothy 6:20-21, ISR98
The world is full of all kinds of so-called knowledge, but is it the kind of knowledge that a disciple of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah would listen to? The key is to understand the value of your knowledge and relationship through the Master. This isn’t a religious ideal, but a personal understanding, a relationship and strength unique to you as a person. The warning of Paul to Timothy also serves as a warning to all current day disciples of Messiah. (John 15:19, 17:14; 1 John 2:15; James 1:27, 4:4) This is because worldly knowledge can undermine the knowledge of the Most High by pretending to be superior, even pretending to be more relevant. (Galatians 1:10; Ephesians 2:1-2; Colossians 2:20-22, 3:1-11, 12-17) Disciples must make every effort to be unspotted from the world. (Romans 12:1-2; “Disciple: The Pattern of Your Life“; “Condemnation, Dogs & Hogs“)
“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks to be wise among you in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with YAHWEH; for it has been written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness.’ And again, ‘YAHWEH knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.’” – 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 (Job 5:13; Psalm 94:11)
The Bible makes it clear that the knowledge of the world is not the knowledge of YHWH, but how many professed Christians live only in the knowledge and pattern of the world while professing otherwise. Our purpose is not to judge, but simply to lay out the truth with the hope that you will take steps to change your life for the better, dedicated wholly to YHWH’s Kingdom instead of the dark kingdom of Satan and his agents. The kingdoms of man are tied into this darkness rather than YHWH’s Kingdom of Light. (John 15:18-20; Romans 12:1-3; “Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)
“Beloved ones, do not believe every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of Elohim [‘God’, YHWH], because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of Elohim: Every spirit that confesses that Yahshua [Jesus] Messiah has come in the flesh is of Elohim, and every spirit that does not confess that Yahshua [Jesus[ Messiah has come in the flesh is not of Elohim.
And this is the spirit of the anti-messiah which you heard is coming, and now is already in the world. You are of Elohim, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
They are of the world, therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of Elohim – the one knowing Elohim hears us. He who is not of Elohim does not hear us. By this we know the Spirit of the Truth and the spirit of the delusion.” – 1 John 4:1-6, ISR98
The reader is tempted to take the English translation of 1 John 4:2 literally when read by itself. How many read that anyone who ‘confesses Christ is of God?’ Why does this passage read this way when the world is full of false prophets, worldly knowledge and error? In fact, assuming that everyone that confesses the Messiah is the opposite of how John opens in the previous verse. He admonishes that you must not believe every spirit. What’s up? (“Wavering Between Two Opinions“; “Delusion & the Tightening Noose of the Beast System“)
The key to this phrase is the Greek word “homologeo” which means to say the same thing, to agree with, assent whole-heartedly, not to refuse or deny, but to promise or to make covenant with through lifestyle, declaration and praise. This doesn’t speak to claims or to false teaching, but to deep-seated knowledge of YHWH and His Kingdom combined with appreciation, commitment and love. This is especially important because your personal understanding shines YHWH’s light on the knowledge and teaching of the world, a darkness that has always sought to creep into YHWH’s people throughout history. This should be as plain as the nose on your face. We hope you understand. (“Disciple of Messiah: Living As Light“; “Your Heavenly Father & Agreement in Prayer“)
The darkness of the world can easily cross over into your life, typically in small steps that you may not recognize at first. At least, the hope of Satan is that you won’t notice or care. That is why personal diligence is required. Satan is as good as dead and unrepentant to boot. He is mad, totally crazy. You don’t have to be that way! (“The Importance of Practical Repentance“)
Sure, you live in the world, but you don’t have to be a part of it. If you are part of the world, the Bible says that you will receive part of the plagues and judgment of that world. That doesn’t have to be. You simply need to be diligent. You need to care and when the need arises, repent (turn aside) and be restored to the Will of your Heavenly Father.
