The Mission of the Messiah’s Disciple

by John Greene

pharisee-closing-doorThere is no getting around the facts. John the Baptist was quite special in his time. He was a sworn Nazarite that wore rustic, rugged clothing and had a strange natural diet. (Acts 1:5, 22, 10:37, 11:16, 13:24-25, 18:25, 19:3-4) This odd looking man had no power in the political system of the day, but spoke with irresistible authority that attracted a lot of attention. Audiences from many walks of life often flocked to hear him speak. (Isaiah 40:3; Malachi 4:5)

John was not aimed at collecting a large audience or at creating a sensation. He was aimed squarely at obedience to the Word of YHWH. He had a specific role in the world of that day: to announce the coming of the Savior. John put his full energies into the task at hand. People were moved by his words because he spoke truth. He challenged them to turn from their sins (repent) and to be baptized into that repentance. As he baptized them, he pointed to One that was to come. He didn’t neglect his purpose. (“The Importance of Practical Repentance“; “Disciples: Focused on the Messiah & His Purpose“)

repentanceThe words of John, like the straightforward words of a true and sanctified disciple, are polarizing. The words that spring from obedience to YHWH moves many to repentance, and many more were goaded to resistance and resentment. John didn’t aim low either. He challenged the political elite, even King Herod, to repentance to their very face. He fulfilled his purpose without apology and accomplished his mission based on what he knew. (“Understanding Sin“)

“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

“’But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying: ‘ We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not lament. For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.” – Matthew 11:11-19, NKJV

In a similar way, sanctified disciples of Messiah have an ongoing purpose, even as much of the world rejects what they have to say. They do not live according to the way of the world, or as society demands. They don’t give into the jeers of worldly society, fear or trepidation, but instead look to YHWH in trust. They don’t give heed to the negative attentions of an unrepentant society and world governance that judges and casts blame, a society that has a corrupt heart and spirit. The wisdom of the world is not the wisdom of the Almighty, His Son or from the counsel of the Holy [Sanctified, Set Apart] Spirit. (“Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “Bible: Wisdom 101“; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“)

Each disciple can trust the Holy Spirit to lead him or her. You and I can discover the truths that reside in the Word of YHWH as the vital living information that is needed. As these truths work in true Christians, others will be drawn to Him. YHWH, Elohim of Hosts, seeks to use your life and life witness in a way that nobody else can. You are unique with special gifts, but will you listen to what the Most High has for you to do? (“Holy Spirit 101“; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “YHWH’s People Walk by Faith and Obedience to His Word“; “How YHWH Marks His People“)

You aren’t guaranteed an easy trouble-free life as you serve the cause of the Messiah. Doing what the Almighty desires is a huge personal investment. Standing on YHWH’s truth is more important than any fleeting life experience that you might have now. You are standing for your Father in the Heavens, a decision for real life, both for you and others. (“Roots of Salvation“; “Foundation of Salvation“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
