Listening to the Holy Spirit (Ruach ha’Qodesh)

by Ruth Greene

Divine CounselorSo here I am in the bathroom working to get a new shower curtain to hang right, working a rope that wraps around a beautiful gathering of material. The problem was that the shower curtain and rope were fighting me, clearly not working together. This fight went on for a half-hour. Then I hear the discerning voice of YHWH’s Spirit that starts with this explanation: “You must work with the rope and the shower curtain. They work together in harmony.” But He didn’t stop there. (“Breaking the Hold of Addictions through Temptation“; “Strongholds & the Armor of YHWH“; “Who Is The Stronghold of Your Life?“; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“)

“In much the same way YHWH wants His people to work together. They are not all the same in gifting or maturity, but He wants them all utilized to reach the lost, grounded in honesty and truth.” Many ministries have co-opted and corrupted their view of what the Word says. Multitudes of professed Christians have done the same, abandoning their ‘faith’ to the authority of a man instead of the Savior. They may listen to a pastor or preacher that does not teach Elohim’s [YHWH, ‘God’] Word instead of cracking open their Bible themselves. That same pastor or preacher may not encourage the listener to study the Bible personally. They may regale you with witty stories, sports observations and tales of worldly lifestyle. You don’t learn the truth when you don’t personally study the Bible. Multitudes of Christians miss out on the joy, the comfort, the strength, the happiness, the fulfillment of YHWH in their lives through Yahshua [Jesus]. The Master didn’t die for nothing. You don’t need to struggle with the authority of man and his church hierarchy. You need Bible truth! When you read the Bible, you focus on Him. He is life! Let the Bible speak to you! Observe the gifts of the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit] that YHWH has given His disciples. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11) The Holy Spirit needs to be a regular, established part of your life! (John 3:5, 15:26, 16:7; Romans 8:11; “Christians: Focused on the Messiah & His Purpose“; “Discernment: Having an Ear to Deeper Understanding“; “Holy Spirit 101“; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“)

YHWH's WordSadly, anyone that fails to bring their life into line with the Bible is not a disciple of the Messiah, but a disciple of something else. The Bible stands alone in significance in the life of a sanctified disciple of the Master. The Holy Spirit, however, is the One that guides disciples before YHWH through obedience. You must know what YHWH expects (through Bible study) and be willing to listen and follow the Holy Spirit without apology, even through times of difficulty. (“Christianity: A Crisis in Prayer & Spirit“; “Are You Rejecting YHWH’s Holy Spirit?” ; “Testing for YHWH’s Spirit“; “Wavering Between Two Opinions“)

Do you routinely demonstrate your faith? Did you change your lifestyle? Have you accepted the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to work in your life as your Divine Counselor? Have you educated yourself or left that to others? Do you speak in the power of His Spirit? Have you allowed your Heavenly Father to remake your heart and mind into something truly His own? (“Cultivating YHWH’s Grace as You Seek Truth“; “The Real Power Behind Baptism“; “Seeking a New Spirit“)

YHWH First! You may not be where you need to be, but you won’t get where you really need to be listening to the traditions and teachings of men that substitute for Bible truth, or twist the truth for their own needs. How do you know? Spiritual maturity is a vital part of the discernment that you need. Spiritual maturity is a process rather than an event, but unless you seek YHWH with spiritual growth and accurate knowledge in mind, you will probably walk the other way in unbelief, tying your Heavenly Father’s hands in your life. Learn to listen to the Holy Spirit, your Divine Counselor. The Holy Spirit binds you, setting you apart to YHWH’s Kingdom. He is your Authority. Be willing to listen as you focus on the Messiah and accurate Bible truth! As for the Holy Spirit, He shows up wherever He is welcomed and needed. (“Disciple: The Pattern of Your Life“; “A Pattern of Prayer“; “Prayer & Life in Messiah“; “A Mind of Envy and Competition“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
