“‘I knew you before I formed you in the belly; and before you came out of the womb, I sanctified you. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’ Then I said, ‘Ah, Adonai YAHWEH! Behold, I do not know how to speak for I am a boy.’ But YAHWEH said to me, ‘Do not say, I am a boy; for you shall go to all that I shall send you. And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,’ says YAHWEH. Then YAHWEH put out His hand and touched my mouth. And YAHWEH said to me, ‘Behold, I have put My Words in your mouth. Behold, I have today appointed you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to tear down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.'” – Jeremiah 1:5-10, HRB
Jeremiah had a special purpose. You have a special purpose as well. Your Heavenly Father, the Elohim of Hosts knows you do. He made you that way. Do you know what it is? Self confidence is a real struggle for most folks and Jeremiah was no different. Especially in a world full of pride and abuse, as so many scramble to what they think is the top, you may not feel especially bold. Not everyone does. What YHWH has for you has nothing to do with the pride of others. Your experience doesn’t truly matter. Excuses don’t matter. Trouble is always willing to come. You are fully equipped at any given moment and time for an act of YHWH in the world that you live in. Your Father has promised to rescue.
At first, you won’t feel adequate. When I was newer in knowing YHWH, I was asked to pray with a young girl that had been deaf from birth. Trouble came. I was shaking in my boots. I didn’t know if I could walk. I lacked faith. As I faced the little girl, my Heavenly Father dissolved my fear. He rescued me. But I had to do the walking. I had to respond. The promise of my Heavenly Father took hold as I faced her. Suddenly, I knew what to say and the boldness in me virtually exploded. She received more than I could have hoped for because I forgot about myself. Without a thought, I wet both my index fingers in my mouth and plugged them into her ears. ‘Be healed in the name of Jesus [Yahshua]! Satan, you are leaving her right now. Time to go!’ The girl looked back at her mother and yelled ‘I heard her!’ Normally, a deaf child doesn’t speak. This one did. Her mother hugged me. After that, this girl could hear. You would think that victory would reign, but it didn’t. After that, jealousy in that gathering of Messiah ran hot. What a crying shame that brothers and sisters can’t love one another enough to rise to the challenge without judgment, envy and pride getting in the way, whether they believed in healing or not. Attitudes grew chilly. Should I apologize for doing what my Father prompted me to do in that moment? I refused to let my enthusiasm wane, but eventually, I had to find a new spiritual body to gather with. As you come to know the Word of YHWH in the Bible, you begin to fully realize that He will not leave you. When you avoid doing something that you know needs to be done, don’t operate in your lack. When you do, that is exactly where you stay. Remember His promise and allow the Holy Spirit [Sanctified, Set Apart Spirit] to carry you through, whether you feel qualified or not. YHWH qualifies you. (“The Secret Weapons of Christians“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“; “Abiding in Trust“)
When you see a spiritual need, fill it. When a brother or sister needs help, offer your assistance. When a witness is needed, make the move and allow your Heavenly Father to provide as He moves through you. That is YHWH’s purpose for you. He is your strength. Do not fear. Your Heavenly Father has something for you to do. His Son set the example. You’ll know more as you learn to listen to His Spirit. (“What Is Washing By The Word?“; “YHWH’s Revolution“; “Opposing Fear“)
As you grow in YHWH’s Spirit, be willing to walk in the Holy Spirit. Yahshua [Jesus] showed us how, giving His disciples a Counselor to strengthen and educate them. As disciples, each is to root out, pull down, destroy and throw down the old man, rooting out the past and then to plant and build the new man through the Holy Spirit. YHWH is serious about His elect knowing His Word. If you don’t, you won’t stay obedient for long, nor are you likely to serve Him well. When you don’t know Bible truth, you can’t present it. (“Disciples: Focused on the Messiah & His Purpose“; “Your Purpose in the Body of Messiah“)
That is exactly what Jeremiah did, without the example of the Messiah or the complete Word that disciples of Messiah enjoy today. We are to be in season always and be willing. Even though thousands of years have passed, we are included in Jeremiah’s word of judgment and trust. As a believer, each one needs to share YHWH’s desire to share truth with a world that sorely needs it. (“Messiah Teaches about Fruit in the Lives of People“; “A Hidden Lifestyle Message from Messiah“)
Jeremiah was a prophet and was valued as one by the One that made him. Your Heavenly Father values you even as He does Jeremiah. He has plans for you if you will fulfill them. Will you?
With the exception of King Josiah, Jeremiah watched king after king ignore him. He saw other prophets murdered and he was severely persecuted. That did not stop Jeremiah from doing what he needed to do.
Jeremiah depended on the love and patience of YHWH as he developed endurance. His audiences often refused to listen, even mocking and threatening him. He wasn’t a success to the world. He experienced both the excitement of spiritual awakening and the sorrow of a national return to idolatry. He watched the Babylonians carry much of the nation and its leadership off into captivity. As he experienced YHWH’s love firsthand, Jeremiah continued to respond with YHWH’s message despite his personal sorrow at events around him as people rejected YHWH’s love. Even when he was sorely tempted with his circumstances, frustrated and considering giving up, Jeremiah knew that he had to continue. YHWH’s justice, His righteousness demanded it. He knew from experience that his Heavenly Father would be merciful, much more merciful than the nations. (“Judgment & Promise: The Almond Branch & YHWH’s People“; “Jeremiah’s Prayer and You“: “A Lifestyle Message from Jeremiah“)
Endurance is not a common quality. You will need it to win the race along with a willingness to care. Jeremiah endured. Your Savior endured. You can endure as long as you listen to your Heavenly Father, your Savior and the Holy Spirit, abiding in full trust.
