Who Is Your Source?

by John and Ruth Greene

abandonA friend who offered to help when you were in need didn’t follow through. Instead, they seemed to quietly disappear. Or worse, this friend abandoned you to your face and left you in lurch despite what they professed in the past. Perhaps we give ourselves solace with the sentiment that our friends mean well and aren’t intentionally trying to make life harder when we are disappointed. In the world that we live in, friendships are often little more than a matter of convenience, sometimes an outright manipulation. How sad! We all need help and have tough patches in life, many times through no fault of our own. We all need a real friend. (John 15:13-15; Romans 5:10; James 4:4; Proverbs 12:26, 17:17, 18:24; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

What do you do when a friend lets you down?

instant gratificationYou need to be certain that your friend has really have let you down. Did this friend promise you anything? Should they have? Before you can decide that your friend isn’t living up to a promise, you need to be certain that they are aware that they are needed. Legitimate reasons exist as to why a friend isn’t around. Messages get lost in an imperfect world and circumstances make assistance impossible. (Proverbs 24:10; 2 Corinthians 4:8-9; 1 Peter 5:10)

When you have tried repeatedly to contact a friend and they haven’t responded, stop the insanity. You must decide when to stop beating your head against the wall, creating more stress in your life while imagining the worst. There are times when even devoted family can’t or won’t live up to promises. Remember that you can’t make anyone do anything, and that the world is full of fair-weather friends. Stop relying on those that you can’t trust or decide to enjoy a person for what he or she is without relying on them. In the meantime, you can be a friend without drawing conclusions based on your fears. (2 Timothy 1:7; 1 John 4:18)

stressInstead of gnashing your teeth and stressing over the details of what you want, look at your own priorities. Should you really expect help? What have you done to create your situation? Who do you really trust? Perhaps a lack of communication is simply a matter of misunderstanding. When a problem needs to be solved, keeping a cool head is vital. Asking for help when you need it is essential. The bigger issue is who you really need to trust. Are you looking for your friends and family, or a bigger and better government to make your life better? Are you looking for someone to do things for you? Who is your source in life?

The source of your life must be a vital concern. Who do you look to? Have you even considered your Heavenly Father? He is your real Source! We know that people disappoint all the time. Even the best of friends disappoint some of the time. What are your expectations based on? In an age in history that often demands immediate gratification, are your demands even close to reasonable? It’s time for personal examination and reflection instead of throwing a tantrum. (“The Unpardonable Sin“; “The Abomination That Causes Desolation“; “Perilous Times Hard to Deal With“)

bible-reader-internetChances are that you have a real Source of strength that you aren’t relying on.

“And my Elohim shall fill all your need according to His riches in esteem by Messiah Yahshua” – Philippians 4:19, ISR98

Some people don’t get it. We aren’t talking about religion and how people have let you down in the past. We’re talking about your personal relationship through Yahshua [Jesus] Messiah. This isn’t a difficult matter, it’s simply a matter of putting Elohim [YHWH] first instead of yourself. (“YHWH’s Prayer Shawl of Protection“; “What Is Washing By The Word?“)

“But seek first the reign of Elohim, and His righteousness, and all these matters shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33, ISR98

What things will be added to you? Your needs! (“YHWH’s Provision“; “Facing Adversity in Faith“; “YHWH is Your Shield and Salvation“; “Abiding in Trust“) The point is that you aren’t the center of the universe. Even if you were the center of the universe, what have you given to others, what have you given to your Heavenly Father? The one thing Elohim [YHWH] doesn’t own is your love, your devotion, your commitment. You may need to learn what all of this means. Don’t worry. Start learning now. Start listening to YHWH by reading the Bible yourself. Where you place your confidence is what or who you believe in. (Matthew 23:9; John 10:10; Romans 10:13; “Disciple: Where Do You Place Your Trust?“; “What Lifestyle Are You Pursuing?“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38, NKJV

“I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” – Psalm 37:25, NKJV

“YHWH is my rock and my stronghold and my deliverer; my Ěl is my rock, I take refuge in Him; my shield and the horn of my deliverance, my high tower.” – Psalm 18:2, ISR98

“YHWH is near to the broken-hearted, and saves those whose spirit is crushed.” – Psalm 34:18, ISR98

“When my father and my mother have forsaken me, then YHWH does take me in.”  – Psalm 27:10, ISR98

Be sober, keep awake, because your adversary the devil is as a roaring lion, prowling, plotting whom to devour. Resist him, firm in the belief, aware that the same hardships are experienced by your brothers in the world.” – 1 Peter 5:8-9, direct translation

“Owe no one any matter except to love one another, for he who loves another has filled the Torah.” – Romans 13:8, ISR98

“No servant is able to serve two masters, for either he shall hate the one and love the other, or else he shall cling to the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve Elohim and mammon.” – Luke 16:13, ISR98

(“Giving to Others While Trusting in YHWH for Your Needs“; “Overcoming Fear during Tough Times“: “Disciple: Live Your Belief“; “Do You Give Leftovers to Messiah?“; “Do You Live a Lifestyle of Greed?“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
