Can you imagine an enormous mountain being uprooted and thrown into the sea? Many have wondered about the statement that Yahshua [Jesus] made in Matthew 21. When you believe and do not doubt, you can “move mountains.” Perhaps we should say that mountains are moved for you. After all, this is not some kind of magic where you engage in whimsical mountain moving. Yahshua [Jesus] was making a strong statement about trust in YHWH. Trust is a result of your belief. What kind of mountains in life do you face? Have you talked to your Heavenly Father about them? Have you been blessed to experience a miracle through trust? (Matthew 21:18-22; Mark 9:23, 11:20-26; Luke 1:37, 17:6, 8:27; “Disciple: Learning to Live in Trust“; “Disciple: Where Do You Place Your Trust?“; “Abiding in Trust“; “Trust YHWH, Not World Leaders“)
There is also another matter that is often overlooked in what Yahshua [Jesus] said. He said you will be able to do what He did with the fig tree. What did Yahshua [Jesus] do? By the spoken word, he caused that barren fig tree to whither away. First, through your active trust and prayer, spiritual barrenness is banished. What doesn’t bear fruit for YHWH’s Kingdom is eliminated or ‘cursed.’ In the language of old Israel, the mountain of sin is cleansed in the great basin of the temple court. Yahshua [Jesus] emphasizes the power of your speech when the Holy Spirit resides in you as you operate in Elohim’s [YHWH] truth. You are cleansed over time, becoming a new man in Messiah. Through prayer, speaking and conducting yourself in line with Bible truth you are able to bear fruit for YHWH’s Kingdom. Yahshua [Jesus] is your example. By following the example of your Savior, every sanctified disciple of the Messiah is cleansed in the power of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:26; John 15:5-10; Matthew 13:31; Mark 4:31-32)
“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” – Matthew 21:22, NKJV
Note that when a mountain of difficulty is thrown into the sea, consider that sea as the sea of mankind. (Revelation 8:8; Matthew 17:20) When rebellious man creates a problem for YHWH’s santified people, YHWH cuts down the mountain and turns it back to those that created the problem. Your Heavenly Father simply wants you to speak with Him and act in harmony with your request. Of course, trust in the Father is not a blank check to get what you want. He doesn’t grant requests that don’t line up with His Will. The stronger your trust in YHWH and the word of Messiah, the more that you abide as a new man in Messiah, the more likely that your prayers will be in harmony with Elohim’s Will. (“Disciple: Live Your Belief“; “Life Healing and Belief“; “How YHWH Marks His People“)
The kind of prayer that moves mountains is prayer for YHWH’s Kingdom. Just as YHWH will move mountains, He will answer the prayers of His anointed people. How will He do this? Rest assured that your miracle, whether small or large, isn’t often likely to happen by what you imagine, but in a way that is “outside the box.” This is certainly our experience. Our experience also shows that moving that mountain in your life is likely to require or at least result in some spiritual growth on your part as well. He justifies your trust and when you see the results, your spiritual commitment grows. Your Father wants you to believe without doubting, giving the means to Him. He wants to provide for you and the needs of His people though His power. Father’s power in these matters of prayer is not a result of a positive mental attitude as the world says, but on these conditions:
You must be a sanctified believer.
You must not hold a grudge against another person.
You must not pray with selfish motives.
Your request must be for the good of Elohim’s Kingdom.
To pray effectively you need trust in YHWH rather than faith in the object of your prayer. When you focus only on your request, you will be left with nothing if your request is refused. (Mark 14:36) Personal prayers are often motivated by personal interests and desires. Yahshua [Jesus] prayed with Elohim’s Kingdom in mind and disciples of the Messiah must have the same mindset. You can see how important it is that your life is focused on YHWH’s Will instead of your own apart from Him. (“Prayer and Your Faith“; “The Power of Prayer Depends On You“; “Prayer & Life in Messiah“)
