A great indifference for the truths of scripture is rooted deeply among confessing believers today. These stubborn roots of pride and deception have become strongholds that persist despite the admonition of Yahshua [Jesus]. (Isaiah 49:14-16; Matthew 24:15; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; “Christianity: A Crisis in Prayer & Spirit“)
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:13-16, NKJV
A seasoning that has no flavor is useless. When professed Christians make no effort to affect the world around them by revealing Bible truth or the truth they know, they are of no value to YHWH or the cause of the Messiah. When a professed Christian blends in with the world, in effect being contaminated salt, a profession of faith or trust is meaningless. A disciple of the Messiah must be the light of Elohim [YHWH] to the world, seasoned fully with Bible truth that springs from personal love; as the prophet Jeremiah said, “His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones.” It becomes part of you, a natural part of your expression. (Jeremiah 20:9; “The Miracle of Living Water“; “Putting Down the Titanic Pride of Man – Placing Satan Under Your Feet“)
Like a lighted city on a hill at night, when you are a genuine disciple you are a visible light, not only by profession, but in conduct. Others are likely to make their own judgments based on what you do.
You aren’t quiet when you need to speak.
You don’t go along with the crowd, but look to reflect the character of the Messiah.
You don’t deny the power of Elohim’s Spirit or of scripture.
You don’t allow repetitive sin to dim your light.
You seek to explain the truth of YHWH through Yahshua [Jesus] to others.
You are willing to look after the needs of others, especially those that make the effort to show YHWH’s light. (“The Parables of Matthew 25“)
“The spirit of a man is the lamp of YHWH, searching all his inmost parts.” – Proverbs 20:27, ISR98
The compartments or innermost parts of your heart are a lamp to the world. This doesn’t make you perfect in conduct, but the sacrifice of Yahshua [Jesus] does perfect or complete you in the eyes of YHWH. You will continue to be the same person you are, but as you grow in spiritual maturity, you increasingly reflect the character of Yahshua [Jesus], the fruits of Elohim’s Spirit as a new man through Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah. (Galatians 5:22-26; 2 Corinthians 3:12-18) You seek to abide closely in Him regardless of what is going on in the world about you. Your witness continues to shine. Jeremiah and other prophets repeatedly did the very same. (2 Corinthians 4:9; Acts 7:52; Jeremiah 11:21, 15:20, 20:1, 26:8-9, 36:19-26, 37:15, 38:4; Daniel 6:10-28; “Seeking a New Spirit“; “The Bible & Higher Authority“; “Listening and Doing as a Disciple“)
Through a personal life witness of YHWH’s Kingdom (light) or Satan’s kingdom (darkness), each person on earth is judged through the figurative threshing floor of YHWH, separated as either grain or chaff. In order to process the grain, the grain had to be removed from the husks – and so it is with disciples. Some see this process as unusual or unjust punishment and wrath, but reality is that YHWH’s divine process is one of decision – based on the spiritual substance of the individual, just as the grain has the necessary substance to sustain human life. Human ‘grain’ is necessary to sustain YHWH’s Kingdom on earth. Finding the grain, the kernel of the righteous disciple, through the violence of the threshing floor of life is what is required. (Deuteronomy 25:4; Isaiah 28:27-28; Hosea 9:2; Jeremiah 51:33; Proverbs 20:8, 26) This is a spiritual process that not one man or woman is exempt from.
On the threshing floor, the grain is separated through threshing and winnowing (or through beating and sifting depending on the grain). YHWH knows which is best for each of His people and what is required on the spiritual threshing floor. The forces involved are enough to agitate the head and release the seed from the fully-developed hull, but not enough to crush the grain on the threshing floor. So it is with Elohim. The weeds and chaff are set aside for burning (lake of fire) and grain is gathered into barns (YHWH’s Kingdom). (Matthew 3:12, 13:36-43; Luke 3:17; Psalm 1:4; Isaiah 17:13) In the same way, the divine messengers in Ezekiel that thresh mankind through divine threshing wheels of judgment seek YHWH’s people, which today are active, genuine and sanctified disciples of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah. (Matthew 3:7-12, 25:31-46; Luke 22:31-32; “Which Shepherd Do You Believe?“; “Temptations & Tough Choices“; “Wavering Between Two Opinions“; “Blind Leading the Blind“; “Spiritual Disease that Eats at Your Salvation“)
Don’t forget that Yahshua [Jesus] tells His disciples: “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” As a sanctified disciple of Messiah, you put your light on a lampstand for all to see, to light as large an area as possible. Your lampstand is fueled by the oil of the Spirit, the Holy or Santified Spirit of Elohim. A disciple can only see by His light since He is the Counselor of every genuine disciple that receives Him. A disciple is not to do what the world does or in lockstep with what the church world professes to do. The world is obsessed with comparisons and appearances, one person to another, even as a mark of envy or jealousy. Scripture is the measuring stick and Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah is the Judge, even as all disciples of Messiah are being refined now. (2 Corinthians 10:12-13; Malachi 3:1-3; Revelation 21:23; “Prompting Falsehood Through the Lie“; “Victory in Spiritual Battle“; “Abiding in Trust“; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “The Unpardonable Sin“)
Disciples must learn to speak and act as the Holy Spirit acts and directs rather than from personal strength or worldly wisdom. The world hates this because it can’t control the Holy Spirit, nor the compliant heart and mind of a committed disciple of Yahshua [Jesus]. Through the Holy Spirit, genuine disciples of the Messiah become sanctified vessels, with their spiritual lamps shining brightly through their own temple lampstand. They shine Elohim’s light in as wide an area as possible, allowing the light of the Holy Spirit to reveal the darkness of Satan’s kingdom. For mankind, the threshing floor of YHWH is a necessary and holy purpose that protects His people for eternity. (Matthew 5:10-12; “The Pattern of Your Life“; “Sin & the Law of Liberty“; “The Need to Keep Spiritually Clean“)
