Understanding Real Prosperity

by John and Ruth Greene

“’For I know the plans I am planning for you,’ declares YHWH, ‘plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expectancy. Then you shall call on Me, and shall come and pray to Me, and I shall listen to you. And you shall seek Me, and shall find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:11-13, ISR98

Wall Street gambleWith this loving affirmation had come a nagging question that spans the ages. Why do the wicked seem to prosper? (Jeremiah 12:1-2; Job 12:1-6, 21:4, 7-21; Habakkuk 1:1-4) Circumstances are not the measure of value. Real success in the eyes of Elohim [YHWH] is based on the heart of those that seek Him, the ones that love Him. Prosperity is much more than appearance and devices of the world. Many false shepherds today are full of the appearance of wealth, part of a corporate body subservient to the state that seeks precedence over YHWH. This corporate device of the world allows religious leaders to keep the wealth they gather. They teach a another gospel, reinforcing the tithe, and if not that, then copious freewill offerings and even gimmicks to grab your attention. When those don’t work, then fear is the tool to capture your heart. To many today, this is religion, even the Christianity they know and respect. The state may be corrupt, squandering resources just as many national leaders have in the past. Famous radio hosts may paint a Christian face on a hopelessly corrupt and perverse system. Neither false religion or politics are the overarching concern of a disciple of the Messiah. (“The Truth About the Tithe“; “What You Should Be Optimistic About “; “Financial Usury & Bible Truth: Lending, Giving & Borrowing“; “Delusion & the Tightening Noose of the Beast System“)

Delivering a truthful message of trust that Yahshua [Jesus] instituted is what must concern every genuine disciple of the Messiah. (Matthew 28:19-20) As a devoted minister of Elohim’s truth, the wealth of the world may seem to elude you. You obey scriptural principles directly from the Bible instead of the ways of the world. This doesn’t always work to your advantage in a world built on greed and cheats. YHWH’s people have a kind of prosperity that the world doesn’t understand. In spite of any trial or circumstance, those that trust YHWH are promised that the needs for each day will be met when you keep a humble and repentant heart toward Him. That must be your satisfaction. (Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:28-33; James 1:5; Psalm 37:25; “Discernment That the World Doesn’t Have“)

God's Kingdom vs. Satan's OrderThose that have the trappings of worldly wealth are not necessarily righteous by YHWH’s standards. In fact, quite often the opposite is true. YHWH does not encourage debt to the world or seeking the world. (Proverbs 22:7; Romans 12:1-2; James 1:22-24) The world spurns the ways of YHWH and seeks its own means. In this way, you can see the real fruit of the world versus the Kingdom of Elohim. (Deuteronomy 28:1, 12, 43-44; Isaiah 46:9-11; Matthew 7:7-8; Luke 12:27-31; John 15:7) Remember that the world is full of sin and iniquity, with a world full of people that mostly make selfish choices. In the same light, disciples must not resent YHWH’s timing, acting out in sin because of frustration while disregarding scriptural principles. (Mark 4:19; 2 Timothy 1:7; 1 Corinthians 9:24) The power of YHWH is not too small and His hand is not short. (Job 9:20, 13:23, 22:12-14; Isaiah 58:1-8; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“; “Understanding Sin“)

YHWH sought to prosper the Hebrews of old Israel that would listen. Those that really did seek Him found Him, just as YHWH said. (Numbers 6:24-26; Deuteronomy 4:29; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Matthew 5:6, 6:19-34, 7:7-11; Luke 12:22-34; John 8:12, 14:6) He knew that the nation of Israel, along with most of the people within that nation, would reject Him. This rejection by multitudes of apostate Jews that followed their own traditions and selfish hearts would ultimately open YHWH’s favor to all people with a heart to listen and obey, even knowing that the majority of all people would reject His Way as truth. In this way, YHWH continually demonstrates that salvation is not the sport of groups that vaguely profess to be His people, but the foundation of personal love and devotion for each disciple of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah, through the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 10:3; 1 Peter 3:12; Revelation 3:5) Salvation is personal. YHWH is not an “unknown god’ or unknowable for those that seek Him. (Acts 17:22-33; Matthew 7:7-8; John 7:38; Proverbs 8:17; Psalm 9:10; Lamentations 3:25; Isaiah 55:6-7) Christians in this day are not to chase after wealth or to look to man’s system as their source. Yahshua [Jesus] pointed the Way that His disciples are to follow as spiritual leaders. (“Cultivating YHWH’s Grace as You Seek Truth“; “The Real Power Behind Baptism“)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23, NKJV

The fruit of the Spirit is the minimum standard that Christians enjoy as they abide in His Spirit. This fruit reflects the righteousness that Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah brings into the life of trusting disciples. Part of our purpose is to grow into greater spiritual maturity, as our mouths express the love of our Messiah. (1 Corinthians 13:1-12; “Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“)

sharing the BibleEvery disciple of the Messiah has been given gifts for use in ministry to others. This is not without purpose, but for reaching out to others with an overflowing heart. (Ephesians 4:7, 13-16; 1 Corinthians 12:7, 11, 13:1-3; 1 Peter 4:10-11) Most professed experts find certain gifts uncomfortable because they aren’t personally in charge of these gifts, nor can they take charge of them (except to put these gifts from the Set-Apart Spirit down). The office of the Holy Spirit is not the domain of experts or of professed religious leaders to control. Instead, this is part of the personal function of each dedicated disciple as they operate in brotherly love (in the Spirit of YHWH) through Bible truth. (1 Corinthians 14; “Gifts of the Spirit & Speaking in Tongues“)

Elohim is always with you through the provision of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit binds you to YHWH’s Kingdom with Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah as your High Priest. The Holy Spirit is your Counselor. He abides in those that truly seek YHWH. The Holy Spirit teaches, reproves, judges, encourages and guides you. He is the fountain of Elohim in the life of a devoted disciple. (Matthew 26:64; Mark 14:62; Acts 7:55-56; Romans 8:31-34; Ephesians 3:11; Hebrews 2:17, 4:14-15, 5:1-10, 7:26-27, 9:12; “Are You Rejecting YHWH’s Holy Spirit?“; “Abiding In Trust“; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“)

“And there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of services, but the same Master. And there are different kinds of workings, but it is the same Elohim who is working all in all. And to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for profiting, for to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit, and to another belief by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit, and to another operations of powers, and to another prophecy, and to another discerning of spirits, and to another kinds of tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these, distributing to each one individually as He intends.” – 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, ISR98

(Mark 16:17; Acts 2:1-16, 10:44-46, 11:15; 19:2-6; 1 Corinthians 12:1, 8-11, 28-30; 14:9) Speaking in tongues is established through YHWH’s Holy Spirit, used for the benefit of others and yourself, increasingly rare in a ‘modern world’ that does not understand or truly believe in YHWH’s refining fire. This gift is chiefly used to reach those that don’t share language or in certain times of prayer. (Mark 16:17; Luke 3:16; Acts 2:1-16, 10:44-46, 11:15; 19:2-6; 1 Corinthians 12:1, 8-11, 28-30; 14:9; Joel 2:28-29; “Break Down Walls of Darkness With Prayer“; “Prayer & Life in Messiah“; “Breakthrough Prayer Menu“)

“Pursue love, and earnestly seek the spiritual gifts, but rather that you prophesy. For he who is speaking in a tongue does not speak to men but to Elohim, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks secrets. But he who is prophesying speaks upbuilding and encouragement and comfort to men. He who is speaking in a tongue builds up himself, but he who is prophesying builds up the assembly.  Now I wish you all spoke with tongues, but rather that you might prophesy, for he who is prophesying is greater than he who is speaking with tongues, unless he interprets, so that the assembly might receive upbuilding.” – 1 Corinthians 14:1-5, ISR98

read your Bible dailyThe gathering of YHWH’s people are to build up and strengthen one another.  (1 Corinthians 14:22-33) This gathering builds up the family and supports the proper operation of authority in the family as everyone meets together in prayer and worship. It enables the faithful to share testimonies and experiences, bringing them closer together in a foundation of trust devoted to Messiah. Satan wants to corrupt scriptural knowledge and the influence of YHWH’s Spirit so that many will avoid the operation of the Holy Spirit, even misrepresenting Him. Some pastors may use “Robert’s Rules of Order” or other guidelines outside of scripture, but worldly devices are not to be part of worship or public gathering. Those that cling to worldly ways and do not have a full understanding of the Holy Spirit or the knowledge of what He is about are in spiritual trouble. (Hebrews 2:3-4, 5:12-14; 1 Peter 2:2; Isaiah 28:11-12; 1 Corinthians 12:12) Why? The Holy Spirit is of YHWH’s Kingdom and not of the devil, or of the dark kingdom of the world. As a disciple of the Messiah, you are to operate as a fountain of your Heavenly Father, filled with His power, just as Yahshua [Jesus] and the disciples were. There is no mystery about it and no debate is needed. (John 14:12-13; Matthew 10:8; Revelation 1:5-6; “Healing: The Beginning of Love“)

hands of prayerA disciple that resists the Holy Spirit does so at his or her own spiritual peril. If you are not filled with His power, you are limiting the power of YHWH in your life, risking spiritual leaven in your life. (1 Corinthians 14) A congregation of YHWH’s people that do not operate in proper spiritual order cannot be properly spiritually strengthened. (1 Corinthians 11:1-33; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Mark 16:20; 1 Kings 19:10-13) YHWH, Messiah and the Holy Spirit seek to bring disciples the personal spiritual completion of Elohim in a corrupt world. An academic, intellectual belief that Satan and the demons have does not result in salvation. (James 2:19; Mark 5:7) When you don’t believe YHWH’s Word and live it, you certainly won’t bear the fruit or gifts of the Bible. (Luke 16:27-31; “The Truth About the Rich Man and Lazarus”; “Are You a Christian First of Last?“; “Is the Bible Losing Influence in the United States?“)

The Apostle Paul admonishes the disciples of Corinth how easily they were led astray before his discussion of the spiritual gifts. “You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.” (1 Corinthians 12:2). He reminded them of their carnality, their lack of spirituality. (1 Corinthians 3:1) They were unable to discern between the Holy Spirit and false spirits. (1 Corinthians 2:15) They did not discern because they were ‘baby Christians.’ They were full of carnality (1 Corinthians 3:1) and their exercise of the gifts were self-induced by their flesh, false spirits of pride instead of the Holy Spirit. Because of the tendency of pride, the gifts of the Spirit are often better used by mature disciples. Spiritual gifts can be distorted and misrepresented through ignorance or outright deception when discernment through the spiritual new man isn’t used. Because of fear, many churches and denominations have banned the practice of spiritual gifts, subduing them with earthly roles of authority and group control. (“Putting Down the Titanic Pride of Man: Putting Satan Under Your Feet“)

“’Men and brothers, let me speak boldly to you of the ancestor David, that he died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being a prophet, then, and knowing that Elohim had sworn with an oath to him: of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne, foreseeing this he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah, that His being was neither left in the grave, nor did His flesh see corruption. Elohim has raised up this Yahshua, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself said, YHWH said to my Master, ‘Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that Elohim has made this Yahshua, whom you impaled, both Master and Messiah.’ And having heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men, brothers, what shall we do?’ And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let each one of you be immersed in the Name of Yahshua Messiah for the forgiveness of sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy [Set-apart, Sanctified] Spirit.’” – Acts 2:29-38, direct translation

God's WordYou must be a seeker of Bible truth through the Messiah and Holy Spirit, willing to look beyond what the casual observer sees when a pastor or minister preaches. A healthy ‘Christian community’ attracts people with brotherly love, a rightly-divided Word and submission to the Holy Spirit. A body of the Messiah that is activated by the Holy Spirit will grow spiritually and prosper. What are you doing to bring others to the full knowledge of YHWH? You have a part in this through active living trust in YHWH. You don’t willingly mix truth with falsehood. You receive Elohim (Abba Father, Messiah and the Holy Spirit) in entirety, not rejecting His Spirit in fear or subduing it through human pride. (“Hardened Hearts: Strengthening the Brotherhood in Messiah“)

In Ephesians 4:25, Paul indicates that disciples must put off falsehoods and speak truthfully to one another. All disciples are expected to function as a single body of the Messiah, yet different denominations continue to teach scripture differently from what that it actually means per the original texts. When ministers mislead others without seeking deeper personal relationship with YHWH, as well as teaching rightly-divided scriptural truth, they rob Him, creating open spiritual warfare within the gathering. The gathering may remain as spiritual babes enslaved to a pastor, condemned to living a life with little or no spiritual fruit for YHWH. (“Truth About the Modern Concept of Pastor“: “YHWH’s Revolution“)

repentanceThe old way of life before belief and full trust in Messianic provision must be in the past. A disciple must put on a new Spirit and shed the old spirit like old clothes to be thrown away. This is a life-long continued commitment to repentance, living in a way that agrees with the Bible, trusting in the salvation of the Messiah without apology to the world. (Ephesians 2:8-10; 4:17-24; “Seeking a New Spirit“;”Disciple of Messiah: Live Your Belief“) Disciples must put on a new man, seeking to root out the corruption of the old man.

You are a disciple through YHWH’s grace, not as the result of your most wonderful effort. Your love for the provision of your Heavenly Father moves you to obey and minister the Word to others as you continue to mold your life to His Will and purpose. You do this through trust, seeking accurate Bible knowledge and through the power of the Holy Spirit as your life expression lines up more and more with scripture.

The trial of Yahshua [Jesus] when he was in the desert (Matthew 4:4-10) was an important demonstration of both his lack of sin and the powerful roots of His earthly ministry. He gave you an example to follow when you, the honest-hearted disciple, are tempted. When the devil tried to twist scripture, Yahshua [Jesus] contested him. He did not give in. In the same way, you are not to give in when trial and temptation swarm about you. Knowledge and examination of yourself is critical in your success. Knowing critical factors of defeat will help you to be aware before you step into temptation: physical needs and desires, possessions, power, and pride.

Knowledge of scripture will help to keep you strong and properly directed. Looking to another man for all the answers does not ground you in YHWH’s Word. Knowledge of the Bible is the sword to use in spiritual combat. This is essential to your personal spiritual battle. Knowing Bible principles helps you to resist the devil’s attacks. Note that Satan memorized scriptures which he recited to Yahshua [Jesus] with his tradition of deception. Knowing and obeying scripture that resides in your heart helps you to obey YHWH without giving in to the devil. (1 John 3:8; “Battling Satan With the Word“)

“Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.” – Ephesians 4:28

love of wealth - mammonContrary to popular opinion, Paul is not discussing working a job to support your family or yourself. The context of this passage indicates the context of spiritual warfare. You are not to steal from the Father or His people. You are not to seek advantage over them for your own selfish purposes. Otherwise, the evil of the devil that works through you will destroy your trust and relationship with other disciples and the cultivation of YHWH’s Spirit in your life. It will destroy the order of the Messiah’s gathering and introduce corruption. Disciples are to work together in unity for the same purpose using different gifts among them to serve Elohim. Unbelief and conduct that goes along with that unbelief grieves the Holy Spirit. Yahshua [Jesus] was baptized, Set-Apart in the Holy Spirit as His disciples are to be. Yes. you are designed to function spiritually in the same manner as a disciple of Messiah, not as earthly tares among the wheat. You are baptized symbolically with water in the presence of brothers and sisters, and literally with His Sanctified Spirit when you don’t deny or reject Him. When you know about Elohim’s Divine Counselor, you know better than to reject Him so that you can continue to grow and prosper in trust. Your ‘faith’ is trust! You believe it! (“Life Healing & Belief“; “Christian: Learning to Live in Trust“; “Do You Live a Lifestyle of Greed?“)

Each disciple must do something useful with his trust in Elohim so that he has something to share. To move forward in that trust, you must equip yourself with scripture and the Holy Spirit to give you an understanding of His Word. Both are required to successfully combat Satan and the world. (Romans 12:1-4) An unwholesome language and conduct rooted in bitterness, anger and the lack of forgiveness, bad attitudes against others and strife end only in defeat and destruction. Just as YHWH forgives you, you are expected to forgive. You grieve the Holy Spirit when you fail to live according to the Word of YHWH. Are you grieving or pleasing Elohim with your attitudes and actions? (“Attitude & the Disciple of Messiah“)

Act in love toward your spiritual brothers and sisters and speak Bible truth. This is the new nature in Messiah, (Ephesians 5:8) part of an ongoing process in the life of a disciple. The Holy Spirit within you is a seal or guarantee that you belong to YHWH. (Ephesians 1:13-14) The Holy Spirit binds you to Elohim’s Kingdom as He counsels you. Contrary to the popular opinion of many religious people, the Holy Spirit is your Teacher, the Santified Counselor that you need to look to instead of simply bowing to religious opinion of the day or the fables of man. He alone is your personal Teacher along with your strong foundation in Bible knowledge, as you learn to trust in Elohim alone and enjoy His tender mercies. (“Disciples: Focused on the Messiah & His Purpose“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
