Family vs. Government: The Disagreement About Parenting

by John Greene

family destructionGun violence, mental illness, parental alienation and the like have been a hot topic for conversation in the United States. The level of family and societal violence is reported to be on the increase. Some politicians have been quick to get on the bandwagon in the effort to effect policy to empower themselves and others that stand to benefit. Clearly, domestic violence and child abuse are just part of the symptoms of an ailing nation and a failing modern culture. (Titus 3:3; Colossians 3:1; “Disciples of Messiah & the Authority of Man“)

The U.S. government’s favorite tool is “childhood protective services,” a scandal-ridden and inadequate means to police the modern family. Coupled with United Nations policy, modern government and corporate interests have bequeathed children godhood status in the effort to secure more power. In 2010, 3 million children have reportedly been affected by charges of abuse of some kind. Even though 20% of these charged could be proved, authorities report that abuse is vastly underreported, advertising that rampant abuse is 20 times higher than reported.  This plight has been blamed on a burgeoning recession and declining income as fearful parents and family members turn on the ones they love most. (Luke 21:24; Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 3:19-21; 1 Peter 1:18-20; 2 Peter 3:3-7) The family becomes the blame instead of the solution. (Matthew 19:4-6; John 15:12-17; 1 Timothy 3:4-5; Genesis 2:24; 1 Peter 3:1; Ephesians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 11:3; “Millenniums of Human Exploitation“; “Disease & Spiritual Roots“; “Deception: The Plague of Love Detachment“)

weeping and gnashingIn the United States, trauma of all kinds is linked with illness and a host of behaviors that spill over into the national spotlight. (Proverbs 17:1) Government links this to future depression, unhappiness, anxiety and addictive abuse. Humiliation and labeling seem to be the way a sick nation deals with its ills, stress and fears. Many of these fears and behaviors are promoted and displayed by the same agencies that claim to want health and healing. For example, in the United States, 70 years of modern policy has failed to bring the success that authorities have longed to glean with a host of experts at their demand. At the same time, many modern governments have sought to twist the family into a tool for their own political ends. The definition of good parenting is often the target as authorities claim to hold the moral absolute, the common good in a world that claims diversity without any absolute values. Religion is most often the lap dog of politics and power, while claiming that certain views and traditions represent the answer to the woes of the world, or at least, a way to heaven and a Heavenly Father [Elohim, YHWH] they don’t really know. People may be led to worship many gods, the blind leading the blind. (Luke 6:39-49; Matthew 15:14; 2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 8:16; “Overcoming Fear during Tough Times“; “Single-minded Commitment in Face of Trauma“; “Is Your Love For Others Cold? “; “Real Trust in YHWH and Caring for Brother & Sisters“)

“But know this, that in the last days hard times shall come. For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, thankless, wrong-doers, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, haters of good, betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Elohim, having a form of reverence but denying its power. And turn away from these! For among them are those who creep into households and captivate silly women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 2 Timothy 3:1-7, ISR98

obama prideThe ways of the world, grounded in hypocrisy and deceit, don’t hold the answer. Other talking heads even point to a new world system and better governance as the answer, as if they hold up a new answer to societal crisis. Another answer the experts proclaim is ‘minimal sufficiency,’ doing the bare minimum to avert a crisis or in training a child. When it comes to raising kids, everyone has an opinion. (John 15:12-17; Romans 1:28-29; Proverbs 3:6,   22:15, 29:15; James 1:27, 5:14)

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6, NKJV

“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of Yahweh.” – Ephesians 6:4, WoY

authority of the worldWhile this isn’t foolproof in a world that seeks its’ own authority over YHWH or alongside Him, grown adults are forever affected by the training they receive as children. They often remain or return to elements of their past. That is why children are so important to the authority of the world. Satan seeks to sift them as wheat for himself. In man’s world, government seeks to make an indelible mark of ownership. (Luke 22:31-32; Matthew 6:1-34) Even though many professed Christians know that they are mixing the ways of YHWH and the teachings of Yahshua [Jesus] with the world, they see this as divine design because of what they have been taught or through the reasoning of their own ignorance. Nothing could be further from the truth since disciples are told to be separate from the world, set apart to YHWH. (John 14:1-31; Matthew 15:4; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Peter 1:16, 2:9; Proverbs 1:8, 6:20, 15:20; Romans 12:1-2; authority, mammon) Scripture gives good examples of dysfunctional families and relationships as tools for learning and life application. (“Breaking the Hold of the World: Addiction and Distorted Behavior“; “Healing Wounds That People Can’t See“)

“Children, obey your parents: for this is right before YHWH. Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. ” – Ephesians 6:1-3, RNKJV

“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto Yahweh.” – Colossians 3:20, WoY

shareIn order to achieve the best result in raising children, an intact family that promotes and lives sanctified love through the Messiah is essential. (1 Corinthians 13:1-13; Ephesians 5:25; Romans 12:9-10; Hebrews 13:1; 1 John 4:7-10; Deuteronomy 6:5) The parents put their own relationship first with YHWH as their Head. As a result of a rich and satisfying relationship with Elohim [YHWH] as their center, parents are able to give their best to their children without the interference and demands of others that don’t know the Heavenly Father. This is most often counter to the advice of the society and prevailing governing authorities. (John 13:34-35; Matthew 18:21; 1 John 2:10-11, 3:18; Psalm 91:1-16; Malachi 2:16) Parents that are disciples of the Messiah don’t get mixed up in the world. They avoid situations that give man’s system governance in their personal lives. (2 Corinthians 6:14; 1 Peter 2:21; Luke 4:8, 16:13; Proverbs 14:1, 18:19; “Spiritual Disease that Eats at Your Salvation“; “Secession of the Heart“)

parental authorityParents are designed to have authority over one another. (1 Corinthians 7:3-4; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Peter 3:7) Some look at authority as the ‘stern stuff’ in life. This is because of upbringing as a child. Parents have joint authority in all things together on earth. They are brothers and sisters that put trust in YHWH first over all things while investing that trust in their family. (Matthew 6:33; 1 John 2:6, 4:10, 19; 1 Corinthians 5:17-21, 11:14) Christian parents are bound through love in the power of the Holy Spirit, always with reasonable expectations grounded in spiritual maturity and wisdom. (John 13:34-35; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; Colossians 3:14; 1 John 4:8; “Is Your Forgiveness Real?“; “Wavering Between Two Opinions“; “Hindered Prayer in Marriage“)

“In the same way, you younger ones, be subject to elders. And gird yourselves with humility toward one another, for ‘Elohim resists the proud, but gives favor to the humble.’ Humble yourselves, then, under the mighty hand of Elohim, so that He exalts you in due time, casting all your worry upon Him, for He is concerned about you. Be sober, watch, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” – 1 Peter 5:5-, ISR98

“But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of Elohim deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of Elohim. But if our good news be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the mighty one of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the magnificent good news of the Messiah, who is the image of Elohim, should shine unto them.” – 2 Corinthians 4:2-4, WoY

“Put on the whole armor of Elohim, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of Elohim, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:11-13, RNKJV

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.’” – 1 Peter 4:8, NKJV

This is admonition that every disciple of the Messiah, every servant of the Most High must heed. “Let all that you do be done with [brotherly, agape] love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14, NKJV

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NKJV

Through real brotherly love and respect, grounded through the Holy Spirit, even a fractured family is able to be healed. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; “Modern Society and Obsolete Marriage“; “Prospering Your Family“; “Prompting Falsehood Through the Lie“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
