Intense heat is required to purify gold and other precious metals. In the same way the heat of trial is often required for a Christian to be purified. The heat of life experience helps you to examine yourself in your Heavenly Father’s eyes as you learn how to develop trust in Him [YHWH]. (1 Peter 1:7) Disciples of the Messiah must develop trust in Elohim, instead of looking to the power and authority of nations or the power of money. You aren’t purified by these things or by worrying about them. The media reports that you should fear having the things that you need taken away by those in power. In the United States, with the ‘sequester’ and finalized budget cuts, the fear about what is coming next year is becoming the talking points of tomorrow. This trial balloon of debate capitalizes on fear, introducing stress and worry.
“The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.” – Proverbs 18:11, NKJV
That is the helter-skelter direction of the world, putting government and the power of money in YHWH’s place, false gods that point at your trust in them as your authority. The dollar is a piece of paper and coins are pieces of metal, yet what do they mean to you? (Matthew 6:19-34) When you don’t have appropriate direction in your life, you are setup for abuse, being taken advantage of by others. (Proverbs 17:3-5, 11, 13-15) YHWH shows His people what is in their hearts, clearing out anything that gets in the way of trust in Him. Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah has made the provision necessary for salvation from the fears of the world. What is the state of your heart? (John 14:1; 1 Peter 5:7; Philippians 4:6; Romans 12:1-2; Psalm 91:1-16)
“A rebuke impresses a discerning person more than a hundred lashes a fool…
A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.” – Proverbs 17:10, 24, NIV
Chasing fantasies to the ends of the earth is foolishness in the eyes of YHWH. (Proverbs 12:11) How much better to align your personal goals and beliefs with Him, with the scripture of the Bible! In this way, you become the kind of person He wants you to be. Truly Biblical principles and ideas might not seem as exciting as what the world tries to present, but the wisdom, honesty, patience and love of YHWH determine your future with Him. Disciples of the Messiah need good decision making abilities. When dealing with the world, get the facts before answering, be open to new ideas and show caution before passing judgment. Good decisions through discernment center on seeking additional information, which is often difficult work. The Holy Spirit, as your Counselor, makes this much easier when you are not prejudiced against Him. (Luke 14:11; James 4:6, 10; Philippians 2:3-11; Colossians 3:12) This humility brings you to honor before YHWH as you put aside pride. (Proverbs 19:1)
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” – Psalm 18:15, NKJV
“Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.” – Proverbs 19:1, NKJV
A blameless or righteous life before YHWH is far more valuable than earthly wealth, but most people don’t act as if they believe this. Instead, because of the influence of the world and corrupted thinking, they will pay any price to get what they think they want. They deceive themselves. When you know and love YHWH, you may live a lower standard of living in exchange for personal integrity before Him.
“He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.” – Proverbs 10:9, NKJV
“Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one perverse in his ways, though he be rich.” – Proverbs 28:6, NKJV
The double-minded man is split in ‘his integrity’ between two ways, the way of righteousness and the way of wickedness: a separation from the Father. The authority of the world commonly confuses the two ways for its own convenience, setting its own laws and statutes. (Luke 16:10; James 1:8; Colossians 3:23; Proverbs 21:3) Worldly authority often pretends to be or do one thing, but does the other. As a result, virtually every man and woman on earth has a truly skewed view of justice. This is nothing less than dishonesty against YHWH and His Word, the opposite of sanctified set-apart integrity. (Proverbs 12:22, 19:2-3; Romans 12:1-2) Even disciples of the Messiah have plenty to learn and search out, in a world full of itself through pride and self-glorification. (Matthew 25:31-46; 1 Peter 2:12)
YHWH despises all forms of dishonesty. Not only does He hate dishonesty, but that dishonesty works against every man and woman on earth. Other people no longer trust you when you prove to be dishonest. When that happens, you can no longer enjoy dishonest gains, and sometimes honest gains. A righteous man escapes trouble, especially the trouble that he avoids himself! (Luke 16:13-14; Proverbs 11:1, 3, 8, 12:22, 14:5, 20:10, 21:3)
