In the global culture we live in today, when faith is referred to, that faith is usually said to embody ideas relating to religious belief. Over time, the word faith has come to mean a hope or wish, even something to strive after. In general, the world has sought to water down the idea of expectation, to hijack the idea of faith for their own purposes. I’ve noticed this effort in the United States, as if there is no basis for their expectation for the promises made in scripture. To those people, their wishful belief in hope may be true, or perhaps this kind of belief is true to the secular mind. In the English language, the dictionary still says that faith means confidence, assurance, or trust. Trust is active and real, based on the meaning of the original text of scripture. So why not use real words, words that still have accurate understanding? I write with trust in mind, rather than wishful thinking or expectation.
Scripture from Matthew to Revelation was written in Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek. Modern Bible text in the New Covenant [Testament] has been taken from Greek originals. The language was grounded in a non-believing Greek culture as a base. The word that is usually translated as faith is the Greek word ‘pistis.’ The Greek was translated into Latin for use by the Catholic priesthood. In Latin, pistis is translated as ‘fides,’ meaning trust, confidence, reliance or belief. During this time, the meaning of fides was adulterated by doctrine that had little or no basis in scripture. People were persecuted for having any interest in the Bible. Faith became hope, trusting in a mystery, something distant, unreal or unknowable. This served the needs of religion and state as time marched forward.
As rebellion to Catholicism and its mysteries grew, the Bible was translated into English and the word faith was put into regular use. Trusting in the promises of Elohim [Father, Son & Spirit] is generally the meaning that the Bible writer intended . There is no reason to be confused, nor does a mystery exist. You trust YHWH or you trust man. There is relationship in that trust and there is no in-between, no fence-sitting. Some people trust YHWH. Multitudes want to trust man, even though the leadership of man on all levels has a terrible record of abuses, manipulation, and the like. Many wish to blame this rebellious spirit and the strivings of man on YHWH, pointing an accusing finger of blame grounded in doubt. However, reality is that trust is built over time, a process of living. Some folks don’t have that long to place their trust where it belongs. Time easily becomes a precious commodity because each day of life is a gift.
Origins of Faith in Mother Goddess & Earth Worship
The roots of this modern culture come from many places with similar origins, just as in previous cultures. Many of the beliefs of the past have been carried into the present through mysticism and the ‘leadership wisdom’ of man. This is part of man’s knowledge that genuine Christians, [better named disciples of Messiah] disciples of Yahshua [Jesus], must walk away from. However, Satan and the self-centered carnal teachings of man die hard in an imperfect world of chaos and strife. No man is born in a pure culture, nor can he be until YHWH’s Kingdom arrives.
In the Greek mythology of gods, Pistis was the goddess of wisdom, trust and reliability. Pistis is pictured in mythology alongside Eplis (Hope), Sophrosyne (Prudence) and Agape (Charity). Wisdom goddesses seem to be a constant with the religions of man, just as other ideas are. These gods and ideas are simply recycled for the convenience of a culture with the goal of control. Gnosticism, grounded in the mystical and esoteric knowledge of man, has been a persistent tool of power over the ages.
The ancient name for wisdom in Hebrew is ‘chokmah,’ a feminine noun. Like today, the ancient Hebrews were not a pure culture, surrounded by other peoples and cultures. They had been told to remove outside influences, but were not obedient in this regard. The temptation, as it is with modern people, was to adopt what seemed to be pleasing and expedient. They adopted and perpetuated ancient ideas from the Sumerians, Chaldeans, Babylonians & Egyptians, especially where religion was concerned. In their mystic cults, priests and priestesses reportedly had special power wherever they gathered together, said to be the Shekinah or goddess energy. The Hebrews tried to fill the vacuum they created in their lives through the secret wisdom of pagan gods.
The Hebrews adopted the mystical teachings of those around them, including sacred groves and poles of Asherah. This esoteric wisdom recalled the tree of life, recalling the origins of the fall of man in the garden. Mystery religions became entrenched tradition, continuing the myth that female powers were involved in creation and enthroned in heaven, as all-powerful as ‘God.’ The Greek word for wisdom ‘sophia’ became the “Divine Presence” and the “Holy Spirit,” synonymous with the Queen of Heaven, another continually recycled myth of paganism that the Catholic leadership brought into mainstream Christianity. The dualism of faith and wisdom were said to be God’s Bride, Pistis Sophia. This Queen of Heaven is known as Sophia the Redemptrix, Holy Wisdom, Semiramus, Isis, Mother of the Divine Logos and the Celestial Bride. All goddesses of the past often were embodied by mysticism as Sophia, creator of all. She even turns up with her lower body in the form of a snake. In Jewish sects, this goddess of all was called on for healing as the Mother of God, the origin of the world. In some documents, Eve is given this authority, compared to the Sumerian goddess Ninti. Another ancient account deified the ‘wise serpent’ that counseled Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge, calling YHWH a malicious envier that begrudged humans the power of knowing.
Within the theology of the Roman Catholic Church, a certain Saint Sophia was said to exist in the second century in Rome during the rule of Hadrian. She had three daughters Pistis, Elpis and Agape, just as the Mother Goddess cult – thinly disguised paganism through the Roman Catholic Church. Constantine adopted all beliefs into his version of Christianity, creating a hotbed of religious corruption. Even Orthodox Greeks came to regard Hagia Sophia as a female member of the Trinity, the “Holy Spirit.” Having read this, do you believe this “spiritual wisdom” to truly have anything to do with YHWH Elohim?
Today, genuine disciples of Yahshua [Jesus] Messiah are baptized in the Spirit, possessing the Set Apart Ruach [Holy Spirit], knowing fully who He is and what He does for and through them. This is not the corrupt spirit that is promoted by new agers, wiccans, pagans – and even by multitudes of professed Christians. The coming one-world religion that is being promoted by the Roman Catholic Church through the papacy and other world religions are all certain to impact you in coming years. This false prophet will command your obedience. This false prophet will be promoting a nameless or generic God with a capital ‘G’ as the “God of all.” This false prophet of interfaith has and will produce what many consider as great signs and miracles, just as Bible prophecy says. If you’ve been looking, you have already seen some of them. Because of this ongoing corruption and the mythology of the past, it is important that you know and use Elohim’s name, YHWH. He is not appropriately called ‘God,’ which simply recycles pagan titles used by the dark kingdom of antichrist or antimessianic opposers. YHWH not a corruption or invention of the world and He cannot be merged with a god of man’s world, which is nothing but Satan and demons. Most likely, this corruption against YHWH’s Set Apart Ruach [Holy Spirit] has already touched you.
The false prophet even resides in the people politics of the moment. For example, recent news reports that the US State Department promotes safeguarding religious freedom around the world as a matter of national security importance to the United States. (International Religious Freedom Report for 2012) The United States and other nations are often double-minded. In the Book of Revelation, the Beast can appear to be meek and mild like a lamb, but speaks like a serpent that it is. (Revelation 13:11; Daniel 3:1-20) So it is being revealed in governance today. Liberty is a pet of media propaganda, but what is happening behind the scenes is quite the opposite. Underneath the surface, national leadership is not so double-minded as it pursues an agenda of control. Part of this is keeping the pulse on religion and how people can be influenced. In reality, many nations are part of a global sponsorship of a single world religion that claims to worship as one. It is up to you to believe this or to dismiss it. The choice that you make has an impact on your standing with YHWH, your acceptance of the witness of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah and your willingness to lean on the Set Apart Ruach [Holy Spirit]. Your personal stand in life impacts your eternal life.
It is in the interest of a concerned disciple of the Messiah to remove the corrupt roots of the past, to reject what the world tries to foist upon those that love Bible truth. Remove these roots of corruption from your life, expunging corruption from your beliefs, replacing the old man (your old personality) with the new man through Yahshua [Jesus] Messiah in the power of the Set-Apart Ruach [Holy Spirit].
