In this time, perhaps no personal issue is more heated than the debate about homosexuality. By “homosexuality,” we mean what is today referred to as the “sexual orientation” in a person which develops “romantic attachments” with another person. Science says that it runs in families, which suggests heredity, but this defies explanation. Intensive research to find a “gay gene” has failed. Others have tried to explain this dilemma through neurology and endocrinology. Sexual behavior can also be explained scientifically through the science of epigenetics. Epigenetic triggers are based on environmental factors, such as the behavior of other family members, friends and authority figures.
Family dysfunction is typically an issue with poor role models and personal domination. In personal acquaintance with many professed homosexuals over the years, Bible Vision has come to understand certain similarities in personal strongholds through personal conversation. Without exception, all had childhood or teen experiences which triggered a desire, or alternately, a personal resignation to a homosexual lifestyle through conditioned behaviors. They were essentially broken hearted people that longed for acceptance and belonging, often living only for the moment and committed to finding what they saw as love, wherever they could find it. What is more curious is that conversations with some men revealed a death wish. Death was welcomed as penance; others operated in this lifestyle specifically to hurt others, a twisted payback for what had happened in the past. Not one of these men or women could be described as ‘at peace,’ often seeking to manipulate through personal relationships to establish dominance. Others felt the need to be dominated, and as in other lifestyles, the need to please people. They grappled with their relationships and the separation that they felt from others. Repeated sexual acting out and conditioning appears more as a disorder, along with the inability to develop a self-sustaining personal identity apart from others. Other sexual behaviors and lifestyles are similar in scope. Homosexuality, like other sexual issues, is an identity crisis that is grounded in low self image. However, this isn’t always evident on the surface, as many conflicted and addicted people are highly successful in the eyes of the world.
In the modern world, many want to believe that we are more enlightened than past generations. We are somehow more tolerant and better suited than our ancestors. History shows that this is a fantasy promoted by deceptive propaganda. The fact remains that personal sin that scripture reveals affects everyone, just as your personal decisions affect others. It is commonly held that extramarital sex between consenting adults is acceptable. It is commonly held that often nobody gets hurt by this conduct. It is often perceived that under favorable circumstances that no ill occurs from such a relationship. In recent years, science has discovered that this is simply not true and that extramarital sex is every bit as dangerous as a blood transfusion. Sexual immorality always results in pain and emotional baggage coupled with the blight of spiritual and demonic corruption. You cannot undo what has already been done. The implications of this corruption are physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, whether you as a person recognize the effect or not. Scripture sets YHWH’s standard of righteousness, which does not set levels of sin or degrees of perversity and iniquity. Most often, the society and culture of man does that. The Bible continually highlights the dangers of all idolatries that separate mankind from Father YHWH, encouraging personal examination toward repentance. Religion and scholarship pretends that the issue of sex is complex. This is because of Hebrew scriptures that indicate some variances in ancient traditions, even in some patriarchs of the Bible. (Deuteronomy 25:5-10; Genesis 38:1-30; Ruth 2:1-4:17) There are cases of sinful disaster among those that could not trust YHWH. (Genesis 16:3; Judges 14:1-17; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9; 1 Kings 11:3; 2 Corinthians 6:14-17) The standard of scripture indicates that all sexual activity outside of marriage is strictly forbidden, springing from an impure heart condition. (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Romans 1:20-28) Celibacy is acceptable as long as this does not cause sin. (Matthew 19:12; 1 Corinthians 7:8-9, 28)
Sexual expression is exclusively for the covenant bond of marriage, the union of man and woman as husband and wife. (Genesis 2:24; Jeremiah 29:6; Mark 10:6-8; Ephesians 5:22-33) Porneia is the word commonly used in original Greek texts, which describes the prohibition of any kind of sex outside of YHWH’s marriage bond. The Greek word arsenokoites describes the bondage of homosexuality, among other words that describe other deviations from YHWH’s Word. (1 Timothy 1:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Titus 1:6) There are many that will find themselves outside of YHWH’s Will, in the end resulting in promised cutting off through destruction. Those that find themselves conflicted by homosexuality and other sexual addictions need the compassion of Christians as they struggle to deal with the battlefield of the mind, as they cleanse their hearts, rooting out strongholds of the past. This activity is what all genuine Christians are to do day by day, as evidence of personal trust in Elohim. (1 Corinthians 5:1-5, 9-11, 6:9-11, 10:8; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 4:19, 5:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; 1 Peter 4:1-3; “The Struggle for Purity of Heart“; “Christian Conduct in the Sexual Realm“; “Discipleship & Singles Ministry: Sex is Marriage“; “Is YHWH in Your Marriage?“)
Sin within other behaviors is much the same way with far reaching potential effects, many of them unknown to man. All sin damages. Mankind has graded sin and put it into categories. However, all sin offends YHWH because sin is rebellion against Him, against His way of life and against what He wants for you. Man and woman have deceived themselves into believing all manner of rebellions against Elohim. How much easier when you are tempted to resist the temptation and stay on the right track! (2 Samuel 11-13) In this way, you begin a new identity. (“YHWH’s Faithful: Victory in Spiritual Battle“; “Modern Society & Obsolete Marriage“)
A person is born of YHWH when the Holy Spirit lives in them. How do you know? You see positive changes in life and attitudes (spiritual fruit) resulting in a new life outlook and the continuation of that outlook and attitude. (John 3:3-5) New life in the Messiah is more than a fresh start. It is a rebirth with a new family name based on what the Messiah did for you when He gave His life in sacrifice. Once you take the step, you are forgiven and accepted through your High Priest, Yashua [Jesus] the Messiah. With your cooperation through prayer and purposeful study, you develop greater spiritual maturity. You learn to hear the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit you are able to develop a new mind and heart, a new identity. A change in perspective begins when you have a mind that is continually renewed day by day through the washing of YHWH’s Word and through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:22-24; John 3:1-21) You learn to discern the world around you with new eyes and a new mindset as you cast out the conditioning of the old man. (Matthew 11:28-30; 1 Corinthians 3:1-3; Hebrews 5:14) Trusting in YHWH to help you to bear your load is part of abiding as a new man in Messiah. This trust and discernment helps you to notice bad shepherds in all realms of authority that use others for their own purposes while failing to impart the uncorrupted Word of YHWH. (“The Unpardonable Sin“; “Seeking a New Spirit“; “Abiding in Trust“; “A Hidden Lifestyle Message from Messiah“; “Are You Running Away From Messiah?“)
Many baby Christians mistakenly believe that little, if any, action is required on their part. As a result, these misinformed baby Christians remain in bondage to the world. These Christians may lack any measure of spiritual conviction. They may choose to exercise the spirit of condemnation that flourishes in the world. (2 Timothy 1:7) 1 Corinthians 2:14 reveals the painful truth of self-deception that resides in the halls of Christianity in most places: “But the natural man does not receive the matters of the Spirit of Elohim, for they are foolishness to him, and he is unable to know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (Philippians 3:9-10; “Bible Truth: What is a Christian?“)
When a person is regenerated by YHWH, then believes through trust by the grace of Elohim, he or she also repents. This means staying away from old behaviors and filling personal life with new behaviors. This means avoiding situations that may provide temptation. This new disciple is a new creation in the Messiah. The disciple of the Messiah is not perfect, but does seek to live a repentant lifestyle by the grace of Elohim. (John 3:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:5)
We are not here to judge you or anyone else. We are watchmen that must point out the perils of this age, just as all disciples of the Messiah are commanded to do. (Matthew 28:19-20) Instead of condemnation, we offer the love of YHWH and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit through Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah – while there is still time. What you decide determines your future and everlasting life in YHWH’s Kingdom. (Matthew 24:4, 8, 22; John 10:10, 14:17; James 4:11-17; 1 John 4:7, 16, 5:19; 1 Corinthians 7:8, 28-31; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 12:12; “Cultivating YHWH’s Grace as You Seek Truth“; “Discipleship in Messiah: You are a Spiritual Watchman“)
