Scripture, Slavery & Racial Bias in this Age

by John Greene

Mauritania wilderness slavery bwThe last modern nation to officially abolish slavery was Mauritania, in 1981. However, you wouldn’t know this to look at their local culture. In the same way, though slavery was legally abolished in the United States about 150 years ago, a political and social legacy continued, notably in the southeast part of the nation stretching from eastern Texas to West Virginia. Negative attitudes, bigotry and defeatist thinking still proliferate throughout the nation, much of this mindset being handed down as a persistent curse through family lines. Slavery of many kinds still persists in an age of politics that rails against it. The first step to freedom is realizing that you are enslaved. (Matthew 5:38-39; Proverbs 26:2; Deuteronomy 28:1-14, 15-68; “Breaking the Strongholds of Egypt and Canaan in Your Heart“; “Christian: Rest in YHWH’s Lead When You Find Yourself in Exile“; “The Book of Amos: Everyone Answers to YHWH“)

strongholds-chainsSlavery through thought, attitude and lifestyle can be a challenge to beat, especially when opportunists and traffickers persist. Degradation becomes a way of life in exchange for survival. In the political and spiritual realm, slavery still abounds, continuing to destroy quality of life and true freedom of choice, usually in exchange for something that is nothing but a lie. The lie of liberty in the world was around in ancient times and persists today despite elegant protests. The cultural mold of national and corporate power still formulates bondage on personal life, an attachment of captivity in the name of ‘common good.’ Religion has often been and is often the lap dog of politics used to assist in this mythical endeavor of common good. For many, science has taken the place of religion where faith is concerned. Human beings continue to be enslaved to the mindsets of generations past, as well as the abuse that they have suffered at the hands of one another. This ties into a spiritual battle that the Bible highlights, firmly anchored into the fall of mankind. Satan and his agents still seek to make themselves angels of light. (Matthew 18:18-20; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, 11:13-15; 1 Peter 5:8; Psalm 91:1-16; James 2:20-24, 4:7; Ephesians 6:11-12; 1 John 5:4-5; Genesis 2:16-17; Jeremiah 10:23; John 8:44; Romans 5:12; “Learning from Snakes in the Wilderness“; “Why are Nations so Messed Up?“; “Disciple: The Bible & Higher Authority“)

slavery-strongholdSlavery was tolerated in the Bible with rules that governed the treatment of others. (Exodus 21:2, 20, 12, 26-27, 23:12; Leviticus 19:20, 25:39-43; Deuteronomy 23:15; Proverbs 29:21, 30:10) Most of us think of a slavery where people are physically bought and sold in perpetuity, as well as enslaved only for the gain of slaveholder. However, this kind of kidnapping and abuse was forbidden in scripture, as was involuntary slavery for life. (Exodus 21:16; Leviticus 25:10, 17-19, 23) In those days in ancient Israel, when a Hebrew could not provide for self, he or she would bargain to become a servant in exchange for labor, a form of indentured servitude. In Roman times, involuntary slavery was the norm. Scripture recognizes slavery as another human condition that genuine children of YHWH are challenged to overcome spiritually, instead of dwelling constantly on reforming an imperfect system devised and endorsed by man. (John 18:36; Romans 2:6-8; 1 Corinthians 7:21-23; Ephesians 6:5-9; 1 Peter 2:18-21; Colossians 3:22-25, 4:1; 1 Timothy 6:1-2; Philemon 1:14-18; “The Deception of Racism Among Christians“; “Millenniums of Human Exploitation“; “Christian: Deceptions of Generations“)

police-state-powerYHWH Most High, does not endorse these things but allows them to operate as a proof of the inability of man to rule justly. This vindicates Him in the decisions of Satan’s agents and justifies His sovereignty that is about to be placed on the earth. Today, a slavery of all men exists through an international system of commerce and governance, handed down through old Roman times just as Bible prophecy foretold. Depending on where you live, the pendulum of overall governance and slavery swings to and from the routine trampling of what the world calls ‘human rights.’ Today, even local police are routinely in on the side of abuse, in the times that governance tries to build a legitimate excuse for more power and control in a morally bankrupt system. Such is the everlasting plight of man’s rule. (John 8:44; Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Ecclesiastes 8:19; “Abomination That Causes Desolation“; “Bible Truth That Many Christians Don’t Accept“; “Bible Prophecy and the Rise of the Corporation“; “Renewing Your Mind“; “Spiritual Fruit & Renewing Your Mind“)

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but the Messiah is all, and in all.” – Colossians 3:8-11, WoY (Galatians 3:28; Ephesians 6:8-9)

migrant-worker-economic-slaveryIn nations such as the United States, race is often attributed to slavery. In northern America, variations of slavery and oppression have been plied ethnically on Native Americans, the Chinese, the Irish, on Africans and others. Like other times and places throughout history, entire cultures have been built on exploitation and slavery. For example, the culture of pre-Civil War United States became addicted to the bondage of slavery to provide cheap labor and to propel the elite slaveholder to the heights of the order. However, this bondage of heart and mind has been especially persistent and slow to be put down, notably where African-Americans are concerned. Only federal legislation served to break a political hold of this visible slavehood in the 1960s, in which both sides were victims of a never-ending cycle of attitude and hatred, which could only end in eternal damnation. Why damnation? (“What Does Your Church Teach About Satan the Destroyer?“; “The Road to Enslavement“; “The Supranational Babylon“)

“Not all that say to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ enter into the purpose of the Kingdom of Heaven. To the contrary, he that yields the purpose of My Father in Heaven. Many say to Me in that Day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and in Your Name cast out devils and in Your Name yielded many miracles? Then at that time I will agree with the authority of Heaven, them I never knew. You! Depart from Me ministers of wickedness.” – Matthew 7:21-23, direct translation (see James 1:19-25)

Yahshua [Jesus] gave the command:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:34-35, NKJV

“Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but the Messiah is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of Elohim, holy and beloved, tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as the Master forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. [completion]” – Colossians 3:11-14, WoY (the character of the new man in Messiah)

“Become, then, imitators of Elohim as beloved children. And walk in love, as Messiah also has loved us, and gave Himself for us, a gift and an offering to Elohim for a sweet-smelling fragrance. But whoring and all uncleanness, or greed of gain, let it not even be named among you, as is proper among set-apart ones – neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving. For this you know, that no one who whores, nor unclean one, nor one greedy of gain, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the reign of Messiah and Elohim.” – Ephesians 5:1-5, ISR98

toppling the ten commandmentsThe United States, like other nations of man, have openly violated the law set out by the Messiah, even justified by religious people, while proclaiming to be a ‘nation of God’. (Matthew 5:10, 6:33; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Revelation 21:8) Which god is served when considered in the light of scripture? I think you know. Certainly, and contrary to the opinion of many, nations of man has never been grounded in the statutes of YHWH, the Most High of the Bible. Attempts have been made, and many have sought after and still seek to build ‘God’s Kingdom’ themselves. All kinds of false prophets have tried to commandeer a message and teaching that seems scriptural to the less informed. This and all attempts to bring about YHWH’s Kingdom in the power of man are in opposition to scripture and its teaching. Mankind is obsessed with nation-building and the accumulation of wealth, but certainly not the commands of YHWH or the teachings of Yahshua [Jesus]. Secular mankind does not possess real love or truly know what it is. All of mankind is not the elect of YHWH. You will know them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:15-20; Galatians 5:18-21, 22-25; “Hyperinflation & False Teaching“; “Culture: Prompting Falsehood Through the Lie“; “Trust YHWH, Not World Leaders“; “Understanding Real Prosperity“)

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes [trusts] all things, endures all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NKJV

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with [YHWH’s] righteous judgment.” – John 7:24, NKJV

Many have worked to justify their actions, using scripture to fit the mandate of man’s governance in order to protect the mythology and justification of the political and cultural man of war, where ‘God’ is always on their side:

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” – John 15:13, NKJV

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” – 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, NKJV

Remember that scripture defines authentic love rather than the latest fads of the world, which have turned the actual meaning of love into something else.

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.” – Luke 6:35, NKJV (read also Luke 6:32-34)

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 7:12, NKJV

All that are concerned about walking in YHWH’s track of righteousness need to actively consider where they stand where their treatment of other people is concerned. This calls for purity of heart. (John 4:23; James 2:8-9; 1 Peter 4:1-6; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Revelation 22:14-15; “Discernment the World Doesn’t Have“;  “The Wheels of Ezekiel“)

“He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” – 1 John 2:9, NKJV

constantine catholicThe fact is that humanity, even those that have called themselves Christians over the ages, are known to have a far less than stellar track record through the course of history. Yet, the Bible says that all humans were originally created in YHWH’s image, in His character. Many say that we are all ‘God’s children’, but only those that choose His righteousness are sons and heirs through Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah. (John 1:12, 3:3; Romans 8:17; Galatians 3:29, 4:4-7; Hebrews 4:12-13; Colossians 3:9-10; Revelation 21:7) The rest will fall victim to the camp of Satan and his agents as his agents.

Like other behaviors of sin, slavery, racism and other discriminatory behavior degrade all the people that partake in them. To make matters worse, racism is just one more wholesale example of idolatry, putting corrupt counterfeits ahead of YHWH and the commands of scripture. By trusting in racism and discriminatory thinking, you make yourself a god ahead of YHWH Almighty, doomed to destruction along with Satan and his agents. Now is your time to begin to make the change. Choose life. (John 4:4-26; Acts 8:26-39, 10:34-35; Luke 10:25-42; 2 Peter 3:9; Deuteronomy 30:19; Numbers 12:1-10; Song of Solomon 1:5-6; Revelation 5:10; “Are You a Christian First or Last?” : “Bible Truth: What is a Christian?“; “Understanding Sin“; “The Unpardonable Sin“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
