“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.” – Exodus 23:2, NKJV
It takes courage to go against the crowd. It takes trust to do what is righteous before your Heavenly Father. Today, walking in YHWH’s track of righteousness is what genuine disciples of the Messiah, most often known as Christians, are doing. More and more, all aspects of life are being governed through the perversion of YHWH’s justice, by substituting the counterfeit justice of nations. The problem is that this counterfeit is exactly what you are expected to follow after and agree with. (Acts 16:22-30; Ephesians 5:15-16; Exodus 23:2-3)
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Master. Walk as children of light for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth proving what is well-pleasing to the Master. And have no fellowship with the fruitless works of darkness, but rather reprove [expose] them.” – Ephesians 5:8-11, ISR98
Christians are not to be enticed to do what is against the direction of YHWH. That is why you need discernment and increasing spiritual maturity, set apart to YHWH instead of being enslaved to the views of the world through ignorance and spiritual captivity. (Acts 5:29; Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 2:2, 4:18; Colossians 3:7; Philippians 1:11; Proverbs 4:14-15)
“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait to shed blood; let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down to the Pit. We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, we shall fill our houses with spoil; cast in your lot among us, let us all have one purse”— My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path” – Proverbs 1:10-15, NKJV
Doesn’t the strong advice of Proverbs remind you of conduct in the world today? Many of the standards of the world in business and politics are wicked, branded by the authority of scripture.
“Do not be led astray, ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.’ Wake up to soberness, righteously, and do not sin, for some do not have the knowledge of Elohim. I speak this to your shame.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33-34, ISR98
“Rather, we commend ourselves as servants of Elohim in every way: in much endurance, in pressures, in hardships, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in disturbances, in toils, in watchings, in fastings, in cleanness, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Set-apart Spirit, in love unfeigned, in the word of truth, in the power of Elohim, through the weapons of righteousness, on the right and on the left, through esteem and disrespect, through evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers, and yet true;” – 2 Corinthians 6:4-8, ISR98
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in gehenna.” – Matthew 10:28, WoY
“For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of the Messiah.” – Galatians 1:10, WoY
A disciple of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah may come to be regarded as an ‘imposter’ or ‘thoroughly deceived’ by those in the world, yet can still be genuine despite the reports of men. How? Perhaps Galatians gives the advice that all genuine disciples of the Messiah must follow. Real Christians are not men-pleasers, nor can they be. To succumb to the standards of the world is a certain path to destruction and separation from YHWH, both now and in the future. Instead, we are to be renewed and transformed by the Holy Spirit, resisting the pressure of the world, even those that may be considered to be peers. To be a man or woman of the Most High, you must be independent in mind and heart, willing to follow YHWH’s Will alone. Only in this way can you stand for the Kingdom of YHWH, in good times and in the most difficult of times.
