Establishing all things to YHWH through repentance is a constant theme in the Bible. Through repentance, you are brought back to Him as an offering, through His purpose. Back in the days before the second temple was built, Ezekiel spoke to a spiritually compromised nation of people, many that were looking forward to returning to their land. The more elite members of Israel had been taken into captivity after the destruction of Jerusalem, a divine statement of retribution executed through the Babylonians. This all came about because of rampant national rejection and apathy regarding divine direction. Even the most faithful and loving disciples have an issue with the ebb and flow of their trust. That’s part of being human. This is because of the imperfection that we received through our parents: the curse of Adam and Eve. (“Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“; “A Brood of Vipers?“; “Understanding Sin“; “Leaven of the Pharisees; Leaven of the World“)
The national rejection of YHWH was an essential proof that a political nation of people could not prove to be faithful, hence the need for personal salvation through personal relationship through the Holy Spirit. This needs to be combined with the knowledge of scripture, including an additional ‘apostolic testament’ (often referred to as the New Testament). All have the need for right standing as set out by YHWH, what many call ‘restoration.’ This need is real, even when most people don’t understand what this really is or what it really means to them. Likely, they haven’t taken the time to find out, or perhaps they have been misled with half-truths or worse. Even in this day, it is apparent that the majority of professed Christians have a lack of appreciation or understanding for their personal standing before YHWH. Multitudes are thoroughly disheartened and misdirected by the world of man, in evidence by the attitudes that they reflect or display. (Matthew 6:19-21, 31-33, 13:38; Luke 16:10, 22:31; John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; 1 John 2:16; “Christianity: A Crisis in Spirit“; “Abomination That Causes Desolation“) For example, in the United States a Christian poll recently showed:
• that less than 25% of adults believe that God has given them spiritual gifts.
• that less than half of adults believe they are having a significant and positive influence in the lives of others.
• that nearly half of all adults say they are still seeking to develop a clear sense of meaning and purpose in life.
This is because professed Christians are rejecting beneficial scriptural teaching for a counterfeit, the culture and distractions of the world [kosmos] around them merged with religion. While the modern world is full of ‘talk about God’, many modern cultures have lost respect for Christian teaching because of a massive abuse of power over time, multiplied by a litany of false expectations through errant understanding and proliferating bitterness. Scoffers laugh at the poor witness of imperfect men and women, many of which have been misdirected by those that claim to be in authority as they ‘politicize the church.’ (2 Corinthians 4:4; Matthew 16:23; Ephesians 2:2) As a result, the world is full of pitiful creatures that may profess Christianity, but completely miss the point of what they claim to believe. Instead, they have readily adopted satanic knowledge and teaching into their personal lives, sometimes due to their own spiritual ignorance. (Hosea 4:6; John 8:44, 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8; 2 Corinthians 11:13-14; Ephesians 4:27; James 4:7; “What is God’s Church?“; “Disciples of Messiah & Spiritual Fruit“) The spiritual battle continues:
“It remains, my brothers, that you are empowered in the Master and in the dominion of His strength (relating to verses 1-9). Clothe yourself with the full armor of Elohim. You are able to be of power, to stand against the trickery of the enemy. For we do not profit wrestling against flesh and blood, but against the rule of power, against delegated authority, against the world rulers, the darkness of this age, against spiritual iniquity on high. Because of this, take up the full armor of Elohim, that you have the power to resist in the evil age, and fully accomplish all things established.” – Ephesians 6:10-13, direct translation
In what way are brothers in Messiah empowered?
“Children, listen attentively to your parents in the Master, because this is righteous. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise: that it may be well with you, and you will be long-lived on the earth. And fathers, do not anger your children, but nourish them in the instruction and admonition of the Master. Slave, listen attentively to the Master regarding the flesh with fear and trembling, without self-seeking in your heart, in the manner of the Messiah. Not that you need to be seen, as pleasers of men, but as servants of the Messiah performing the purpose of Elohim from your life together with kindness in service in the manner of the Master and not man. Understand that any good thing that anyone does, this kind of man will receive the same, provision of the Master, whether slave or citizen. And you in authority, abide yourself to them. Desist from threatening, knowing that your Master is in heaven, neither is there favoritism with Him.” – Ephesians 6:1-9, direct translation
What is being said here? Brothers in Messiah are empowered by their willingness to show respect, their willingness to listen to spiritual elders, to those with spiritual maturity (literally to your parents in the Messiah). Disciples of the Messiah are to honor their parents in the flesh as they honor their spiritual elders. Family and spiritual elders are not to anger their children, or those less mature, but to nourish those they love with a kind heart of honor and respect. All are to be slaves to the other and to the Almighty above all, not bringing undue attention to self. Instead all are to listen attentively to the teaching of the Master so that the corruption of flesh is put down and YHWH’s Spirit is elevated. Christians are to serve YHWH alone and not man, nor seek to please man. Those that do these things will receive the provision of YHWH for eternal life, no matter their standing in life. Those in relative authority are admonished to be in unity with others ‘less than themselves’ because Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah rules in heaven where there is no favoritism in any matter. The apostle reveals the structure of Elohim’s people into this moment. This stands in stark contrast to the ways of the world, the decoration of man’s order, where such matters can scarcely be grasped. (James 2:1; Romans 2:11; Colossians 3:25; 1 John 2:22; Revelation 9:21, 21:8, 22:15; Matthew 28:19-20; “Strongholds & the Armor of YHWH“; “A Divine Warning for Christian America“; “Choosing to Serve YHWH, Not Man“)
“The Master will not delay concerning His promise as some kinds of people consider tardiness. To the contrary, He is patient, not desiring that anyone should be destroyed, but that all should enter into repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9, direct translation
To those that are unaware or spiritually asleep, Yahshua [Jesus] will come suddenly as the heavens of man’s order pass way and the elements of man’s culture melt away in the face of YHWH’s Kingdom. The works of man will be destroyed and repentant people will find salvation in His provision. Even now, He seeks to heal your land, to bring healing to your soul in the name of Yahshua [Jesus] through the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 4:17; Mark 1:15; Luke 13:3, 5; Acts 2:38, 3:19, 17:30; James 4:8-10; Titus 3:5; 2 Corinthians 7:9-11; 1 John 1:5-10; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Ezekiel 18:21-23; “What Does Your Church Teach About Satan the Destroyer?“; “The Struggle for Purity of Heart“)
“Because we walk in the flesh, we do not serve according to the flesh. For the tools of our service in warfare are not fleshly, but powerful through Elohim to the destruction of strongholds. Destroy imaginations and all high places that are exalted over the knowledge of Elohim and make captive every mind to obedience of the Messiah.” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, direct translation
“But the hour is set and now is, when true worshipers will bow to the Father in Spirit and truth. For that reason the Father seeks this sort of person to worship Him. Elohim is Spirit and those worshiping Him must worship in Spirit and truth.” – John 4:23-24, direct translation
Every proud argument and deceptive fantasy that is exalted against YHWH is a high place of false worship. In the Bible, high places were sometimes located in clearings of forests or within groves of trees. High places of false worship were often on top of hills or mountains, and always where sacrifices or offerings were made. The counterfeit has always challenged the sovereignty of YHWH and His people. Today is no different. This counterfeit is always ‘antichrist,’ a challenge to the authority of and a replacement for YHWH, the sacrifice of Yahshua [Jesus] and the power of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 24:13-14; John 14:26) A high place doesn’t raise itself up as an idol. People do this on their own accord. With the assistance of the Holy Spirit, you are fully able to make your mind captive to YHWH’s Kingdom instead of captivity to the counterfeit, the darkness of the world. (Ephesians 4:30) Your spiritual weapons are designed for the purpose of helping you to be obedient to Messiah. Every disciple of the Messiah is at war, in a perpetual struggle against Satan and all opposition to YHWH’s Kingdom. Satan seeks to devour those that he can. When you resist Satan, he will flee. (1 Peter 5:8; James 4:7) Through the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts that you exhibit, YHWH is fully able to work through you as you overcome obstacles of tradition or unbelief, wherever they may be. (1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:7-13; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 28-31; Romans 12:6-8; “Overcoming Satanic Attack“; “The Great Tribulation & End Time Rapture“; “The Role of Authority in Your Life“)
In a practical sense, repentance is a way of life for a disciple of the Messiah. To repent is to change your mind, opening the door to being new through the operation of the Holy Spirit. It is also about your true will and the condition of your heart. If you aren’t willing, repentance or even being new in Messiah simply doesn’t happen. In this event, personal repentance becomes theoretical. It isn’t real. It is simply imagined. Your life doesn’t bear any spiritual fruit and you continue to operate as scripture describes the old man. (1 John 1:6-10; Ephesians 4:22; Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:8-9) You are transformed by the renewing of your mind after being justified through personal trust, which will be evident. You will find joy and satisfaction in the assurance that the condemnation of sin has been lifted because of Messiah. You are renewed through the Holy Spirit, but never against your will. You decide to repent and to continue to do so. (Ephesians 4:24; Titus 3:5; 2 Corinthians 7:9) The act of repentance requires self-examination, casting off what is not YHWH’s righteousness. (James 1:23-24) You decide that you will follow YHWH’s track of righteousness. Satan and his agents continue to battle for your mind with the intent that they can reach your heart, corrupting or toppling your trust in YHWH and His provision. (Romans 4:1-25, 12:1-2; “The Need to Keep Spiritually Clean“; “Deceptions of Ages: How People Are Deceived“; “What is Washing by the Word?“)
Repentance is practical in living with others. Repentant Christians acknowledge that their sin can hurt others, which must be avoided. Repentant Christians ask for forgiveness from those that they have harmed. They don’t shift blame or make an excuse. They are willing to confess all personal sin to the scrutiny of YHWH while recognizing their personal limitations. Repentant Christians eagerly and happily perform tasks in ministry that YHWH has given to them. YHWH has a good work, a purpose in you, a life journey. You learn to work in Him as you abide through the Holy Spirit. (Philippians 2:13) You need Him too, a true friend to rely on. Repentance is always about abiding through Yahshua [Jesus], our salvation. (“The Mission of the Messiah’s Disciple“; “The Call of YHWH’s Watchman“)
Finally, in this day, the knowledge of Elohim covers the earth as the waters that cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:9) Still, much inaccuracy and falsehood exists. Satan and his agents are busy as never before! However, as you personally dwell in the shelter of the Almighty, submitting to Him and abiding in His love, the Holy Spirit will help you to melt away the counterfeit in your life, even to your innermost parts. (Psalm 91:1, 139:13-16) He also wants you to help others. YHWH has certainly given each man, woman and child that seeks Him His Divine Purpose, the ability and the desire to make a significant influence on the lives of others around him. (Matthew 3:2; Acts 3:19, 17:30; 1 John 1:9; James 2:18; Romans 10:10) This isn’t about leaving all the thinking, prayer, seeking and disciple-making to someone else, but to have your own personal relationship through the Holy Spirit as He works through you. Your trust is all about repentance, being turned to Elohim and focused on the cause of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah. Otherwise, you are in danger of falling to the ranks of those that oppose the cause of Messiah: the swelling ranks of the antichrist movement. (John 3:5; 1 Corinthians 2:13, 6:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 2 Timothy 2:15; Colossians 3:17; 2 John 1:7; “The Beast Seduction of the Masses“; “Filling Your Life With Truth Instead of Deception“)
