The Secret Weapons of Disciples

by John and Ruth Greene

“Do not become heated against the wicked, nor envious of laborers of iniquity, who will be assuredly and promptly cut down like the grass of the courtyard, withering as green herbs.” – Psalm 37:1-2, direct translation

ritual cleansing crumbling institutionsDid you know that YHWH has a low regard for those that flaunt their authority against His Purpose? The failure to recognize the authority of YHWH can only result in trouble, whether the results are recognized in His light or not. The world of man [kosmos] is continually in turmoil and worry, while vainly making promises and promoting propaganda that furthers their policies. Even the strongest of nations or powers cannot forever come against the Almighty and His people. To come against the purpose of the Father and the teaching of scripture can only result in the ‘curse of nations.’ What is the curse of nations? This is spelled out in Deuteronomy 28. The curse of nations is the punishment received for violating the commands of YHWH, the natural order of the universe. (“YHWH’s Track of Righteousness”)

religious lightDisciples of the Messiah are to be the light of the world. You’ve probably heard this before. This is not an honorary position, nor a position that stays in the same place like a lighthouse. This means taking an active part in truly shining YHWH’s light on the world to expose its darkness, as well as to illuminate YHWH’s measuring stick where sin is concerned and what that means. (Ephesians 5:11) The purpose is to make darkness into light for others, so that they can see the Father’s truth. Christians cannot be in silent agreement or consent with darkness. Many consent to the stronghold of Satan’s kingdom that currently rules the earth. Do you consent? Where do you place your consent? Multitudes of Christians have been told that they must be fully compliant with the world. Those that are compliant, crumpling to every demand of men, will not survive into YHWH’s Kingdom. While the world of man [kosmos] is in continual turmoil, YHWH’s people are admonished to trust in the Elohim of Hosts and wait patiently for Him to act. (“Live as Children of Light”)

Psalm 37 vividly contrasts the righteous and the wicked for all to see:

“Trust YHWH who provides favor. Dwell in the land and truly be fed [in His pasture]. Delight in YHWH who offers the desires of your heart. Roll in the track of YHWH, trusting in Him that brings out righteousness as light, judgment as midday. Hold your peace in YHWH and do not tremble or become heated as you prosper in His track. The man that makes evil will faint from the face of His anger. Forsake fury. Do not be heated by what is certainly evil.” – Psalm 37:3-8, direct translation

wealth pipelineTo the Bible reader that discerns, the Almighty opens eyes to the greed, envy and corruption that are the stock and trade of man’s order of things. YHWH’s people must not envy wickedness, or the wicked, even though this evil and those that promote it may be extremely popular or maintain the illusion of wealth. No matter how much the wicked may have or enjoy, any wealth and the authority that this wealth and influence buys will not last indefinitely. The substance of the wicked may last a lifetime for some, but this is not usually the case, nor is it likely to continue. Christians are not to give undue attention to what others are doing. Instead each of us is to examine self. You are to establish where you stand before YHWH as you live each day. For you to scheme about obtaining wealth in the same way that the world does will create the same inheritance of iniquity and judgment for you. The Pharisees while Messiah walked the earth considered wealth as a proof of righteousness. Many Christians have this same mindset today, full of the same materialism, the same idolatry. The lust of materialism is what Yahshua [Jesus] referred to as mammon. (Luke 16:13; Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5) Ultimately, those that lust after such worldly things will reap the same judgment as the fallen order of man. (“The Doctrine of Demons”; “Doctrine is What You Do”)

blind justice of manScripture indicates that all which follow the Purpose of YHWH will live differently from the world about them. In many cases, this offers a degree of protection by itself. (Matthew 15:14; Ecclesiastes 10:8; Psalm 7:15; Proverbs 26:27) The kind of justice that is executed by the Almighty is not the justice of the world, but the kind of justice spelled out in scripture under the sovereignty of YHWH. In the end, those that fully trust YHWH will have the treasures of His Kingdom, which last forever. The world of man’s authority and those that revel in it will have nothing because they do not delight in YHWH. (John 18:36; Luke 13:28-29; 1 Corinthians 6:9; James 2:20-24; Romans 2:6-8) YHWH makes this promise:

“Because evil is cut off, those that are bound to YHWH seize the land. Moreover, a little wickedness will not be considered amidst His standing. The humble will seize the land, delighting in the abundance of peace.” – Psalm 37-9-11, direct translation

mark-of-YHWHs-SpiritA modern-day disciple of the Messiah takes great pleasure (yes – joy!) in the presence of YHWH. You must come to truly know Him and His track of righteousness. That is what scripture is all about. Your adoration and obedience brings your life into line with Him. Some would say that what you have and do is continually donated (given through love) to His cause, but a true relationship is more than a fantasy love affair and giving as the world does. A disciple must learn how to love anew and give to YHWH as He says, learning to develop in the Holy Spirit, to become new through Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah. You cannot have the things of YHWH in the natural realm of the flesh, but only through His Spirit. Through YHWH’s provision, you willingly receive a new spirit as a new person, putting off the old person you were and learning to develop spiritual gifts in YHWH’s service. You come to know Him well on a personal basis. Does YHWH’s Spirit lead you? Have you been baptized through His Holy Spirit? (Matthew 6:25-33; Romans 12:1-2)

You must commit every thing that you have, devoting your life to Him. You entrust your life and substance to Him alone. This might seem to be an impossible goal in a world where you can see and touch so many things. However, you simply look to Him one day at a time as you grow in spiritual maturity. You learn to stop your incessant focus on tomorrow. You come to fully understand that He cares for you better than you could ever care for yourself. You are willing to wait patiently for Him to work out what is best for you while the wicked stab themselves all over with many pains. (1 Timothy 6:3-10)

Anger and worry combined are a kind of grief known as fretting, just part of a cadre of destructive behaviors that control. To be certain, the world engages continually in this behavior. We are advised that the wicked one gnashes his teeth against the righteous. There is no need to act like the wicked. These are those that through personal choice condemn themselves. They fail to take YHWH’s Will into full account and to operate in it.

“The wicked one plots against the righteous, gnashing his teeth. YHWH laughs because He sees that certainly day is coming.” – Psalm 37:12-13, direct translation

shouting the WordThe wicked are heated in grief, plotting what they can do to create an advantage to themselves. They may gnash their teeth anxiously with anticipation about what they can do to others in bettering themselves. To become heated in grief, to envy, worry or fret reveals a lack of trust in YHWH’s ability to carry you through whatever is (or seems to be) going on around you. Remember that overall, YHWH is in control. He has the ability to see you through.  Trust in YHWH, continuing to devote yourself to His use and safekeeping. By dwelling on problems, you become anxious and angry.  When you focus on Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah and the peace that only YHWH can give, you will find that peace [shalom], the kind of peace that the world can only dream about. Where do you find that you focus your attention?

Life as a disciple of the Messiah means that you are actively involved as spiritual warfare goes on about you. Spiritual warfare can only be carried out with calm assurance; humility before the Father, resting by trust in His deliverance. In the eyes of many, humility hardly seems a real weapon to deal with enemies. Yet, Yahshua [Jesus] promises a sure reward for those with humble attitudes. (Matthew 5:5-12; James 4:6)

“The wicked draw the sword and string the bow to divide the humble and needy, to slay those on the righteous track. The sword will enter their hearts and their bows broken, for YHWH sustains the righteous. YHWH knows the Righteous Day, an everlasting inheritance. With no disappointment in bad season, in days of famine, the righteous will be filled. But the wicked will be destroyed, the enemies of YHWH with their precious pastures, completely consumed in smoke.” – Psalm 37:14-20, direct translation

winnow the grainWhile the righteous rest in YHWH’s green pasture of truth, the pastures of the wicked will ultimately be consumed in smoke. (John 10:9, 14:6; Psalm 23:1-6, 100:3; 2 Peter 3:9) They will be destroyed as the chaff on the winnowing floor. (Matthew 3:12, 25:41, 46; Luke 3:17) The Righteous Day of YHWH will surely come, but not as a thief in the night to those that are watching. (Matthew 24:42-44; 2 Peter 3:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-9) The provision of the Most High will carry His people through. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Luke 21:11-19; Matthew 24:7-14; Psalm 91:1-16; “YHWH’s Threshing Floor”)

“The wicked twist and do not make amends. The righteous kindly give. Because the blessed will seize the land, the cursed will be cut off.” – Psalm 37:21-22, direct translation

US Supreme CourtIn a great departure from the ways and means of the world, translating from Hebrew reveals that the righteous don’t twist stealthily like the world, acting miserly and unfriendly, but give generously. They pay and give in accordance with scripture while the wicked steal with a false set of scales, under the guise of lending and borrowing, always holding their own to dominate others. (Matthew 5:42; Luke 6:38; Hebrews 13:5; Psalm 11:1, 20:10, 37:21-22)

“The steps of a valiant man are set up from YHWH [in His track of righteousness], delighting in His track. Though he falls, he will not be cast down. Certainly YHWH sustains him with the power of His right hand.” – Psalm 37:23-24, direct translation

track-embattlementA disciple of Messiah walks YHWH’s track of righteousness, seeking to always do His Will. When you rest in the Holy Spirit and live as a spiritual man or woman, He makes your steps firm. You follow His Word and trust as He watches over what you do as you operate in the Holy Spirit. Pray in His Spirit to receive His knowledge and understanding of matters. As far as living is concerned, Yahshua [Jesus] is your example. The person that the Father delights in is one that follows Him in trust, always seeking to do His Will. YHWH watches over and makes firm every step of His people as they seek Him. (Psalm 91:11-12; “The Need to Keep Spiritually Clean”)

“I was young and am now old. I have not seen the righteous forsaken, his child begging for food, all day he is compassionate and his seed prospered.” – Psalm 37:25-26, direct translation

stress at the officeThese are words of real trust. YHWH looks after the needs of His people. By wise decisions through righteousness, even the succeeding generations will prosper. YHWH also looks to the righteous to help out brothers and sisters in the Messiah when they need it. He will not forsake His people and He expects His people to look after those of the body who are close by so that the ministry of Yahshua [Jesus] is complete. Your personal ministry is part of your relationship with YHWH. You will know these set-apart disciples by their fruit, which works for all persons. Untold numbers of people have not made righteous decisions, including becoming enslaved to a workaholic lifestyle or becoming enslaved to the wiles of corporate profiteers. In the famous parable, the rich man and his brothers lived prosperously in man’s world with hard hearts. As prominent Jews, they had the written Word of ‘Moses and the Prophets,’ the scripture of that day as the cure for their hard hearts. According to Abraham in the parable, even the alarming sight of the resurrected dead could not motivate the brothers of the rich man to operate in YHWH’s Will. That is the spiritual state of many today. Scripture is here for the admonition of those that will consider it. Do you? (Matthew 7:15-20; Luke 16:14-15, 19-31; “The Truth About the Rich Man & Lazarus”; “Power of the Right Hand”)

“Turn aside from evil and be gracious, abiding there forever. Because YHWH loves justice and does not forsake His holy ones; placing a hedge about them forever. The seed of the wicked will be cut off.  The righteous will seize the land and abide there forever. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, his tongue pronounces justice, the law of Elohim Most High on his heart. None of his steps will waver.” – Psalm 37:27-31, direct translation

When you turn aside from all evil and abide in His righteousness, YHWH has you under His covering. One scriptural example of a hedge of protection involves Job. Everything in his household was protected. Nothing that was within Elohim’s hedge of protection was vulnerable to Satan’s attacks. (1 Peter 5:8; Psalm 127:1; Job 1:9-12) As long as YHWH hedges you in, you are safe. Satan is compared to a roaring lion and you are kept safe by the ‘thorny hedges’ of Elohim’s protection. (Ephesians 6:13-17) When you leave His righteousness, even for a moment, you expose yourself to the direct attack of Satan and his agents because a portion of your armor is missing. Those that you trust and have personal dealings with can open you up to satanic attack through their failings. That is why who is close to you can be so important. (1 Corinthians 15:33; 2 Timothy 3:16; Proverbs 17:9, 17, 18:24, 27:9, 17; 1 Thessalonians 5:11) Because of your actions or the actions of those close to you, you may not be protected. When you abide in the righteousness of YHWH, you seize the possession of your inheritance in His power. His armor holds fast to protect you and the discernment of the Holy Spirit is yours. His desire is that you abide in His presence, within His protection forever. When you abide YHWH’s track of righteousness, you are safely within His Will and He is able to protect fully with His covenant promises. (“Strongholds & the Armor of YHWH”; “The Disciple & Hell: the Parables of Matthew 25” )

“The wicked observes the righteous, seeking to destroy. YHWH will not forsake with the power of His hand, nor condemn him in judgment. Be bound to YHWH as He hedges His track, exalting you to seize the land. When the wicked are cut off, take note. Take notice of the wicked in great power, spreading out as a green bay tree. He perished and was not. Seek him and he is not to be found in his place. Place a hedge about the upright, take note of the upright, for the future of that one is peace. Transgressors will be destroyed alike, the future of the wicked cut off. The salvation of the righteous comes from YHWH, a rock in time of trouble. YHWH will surround and deliver, deliver them from the wicked. They will be safe because they take refuge in Him.” – Psalm 37:32-40

YHWH promised that He would not forsake His people. That promise applies to Jews of that day and those that trust in the provision of Yahshua [Jesus] the Messiah in this day. (Psalm 17:8) Disciples of active trust and lifestyle are protected under YHWH’s mantle or prayer shawl. The Most High has plans for your life (Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 34:14-15; 40:5), but He has given you the freedom of choice, often referred to as ‘moral agency.’ (John 10:3; 1 Corinthians 14:33; 1 Peter 3:12) You are unable to receive those plans or His favor when you refuse to listen to Him. (Genesis 4:7; Deuteronomy 30:19) The measure of sin is the yardstick of the Almighty. You can choose to follow His Will, to agree with Him or not. He is Almighty, even as you have choice, because that is His purpose in this age. When you operate under His Will, you are under His wings of protection. You are under the shadow of YHWH’s wings [kanaph], His prayer shawl of protection.

praise tallitYHWH’s power is a garment of protection when you are willing to wear it. In Numbers, Moses established the use of personal prayer shawls as a continuation of the portable sanctuary, to cover a large nation that could not fit together in YHWH’s sanctuary of the time. (Numbers 15:37-38) The Jewish tallit is a modern adaptation of what Moses originally started so long ago. When you trust and pray, you establish for yourself the promise of YHWH’s prayer covenant, His covering. In essence, YHWH prays, creating every opportunity, with the idea of saving every man and woman on earth, if they are willing to listen and to put His Word into action in their personal lives. He is doing that for you now! Are you seeking accurate knowledge and living that in lifestyle? Have you listened? While Elohim’s people are doing His work in this day, we are also waiting patiently for Him. He promises that when you submit to His timing that He will honor you, as you have just read. Be patient, steadily doing the work He has given you to do, allowing Him to choose the best time to exalt you in His purpose. (“YHWH’s Protection in Difficult Times“; “Serving for YHWH’s Glory“)

“Be humble accordingly under the mighty hand of Elohim in order that He may exalt you in due season.” – 1 Peter 5:6, direct translation

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
