Living in an Apostate World

by John and Ruth Greene

pray God's WordYou have questions and you need answers. You are likely troubled by events in the world and the lawlessness that is going on about you. Like you, the prophet Habakkuk (served as a prophet to Judah before its demise) had questions. Habakkuk sought his Elohim for answers. He was troubled by what he saw: a dying world full of evil that seemed to be unending and unpunished. (Habakkuk 1:3-4) The violence and selfishness of the world broke his heart. He even questioned whether YHWH was listening to his concerns and the concerns of those like him. Habakkuk was beginning to be filled with personal doubt. (Matthew 21:21; James 1:6; Jude 1:22; Proverbs 3:5-8) Some choose to ignore doubts while others become cynical and hardened. (Romans 2:5-12) Servants of the Most High continue to ask as they seek Him for answers. Even in times of doubt, YHWH’s watchmen today (genuine disciples of the Messiah) search out the matters of YHWH to sound the alert to others, while seeking to protect the knowledge of YHWH from apostasy and all vestiges of idolatry. (1 John 5:21; 1 Corinthians 10:14; Isaiah 5:2, 21:2-11) Even for these watchmen, when personal circumstances become difficult, it can become easy to overlook YHWH’s strength. At times, even a spiritually mature watchman may find what he has to say as difficult, perhaps not fully understanding it. The answer is to live in the moment, listen for His Word and wait on His timing to be fully revealed. (John 14:26; Matthew 6:33; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 12:1-2; “Trading for the Myth of Peace & Security“; “Filling Your Life With Truth Instead of Deception“; “Perilous Times Hard to Deal With“)

government-kosmosYHWH allowed the Babylonians to subdue Judah (the remnant of old Israel) because of the continuation of wickedness the people and their kings had adopted from the nations about them. Judah’s last four kings were wicked men that rejected YHWH as they oppressed their own people, a time of lawlessness and immorality. Babylon invaded Judah twice before its leadership was destroyed. Babylon subdued Judah much as the new Babylon rising up will subdue the power of the United States and its global power. The invasion has already happened once and the governance in place is in a panic to keep what it has at any cost. But the financial powers behind the current regime are looking after themselves, not a national figurehead. Until the term of this president, the United States was often deemed to be a ‘Christian nation’ of global power. That nation is coming to the end of global power and significance. The lawlessness and immorality are completed by the current president. This has many implications that aren’t covered here. Nevertheless, the new Babylon is rising up to take a place as a new global power. (Luke 10:27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 18; Revelation 21:8; Galatians 5:19-21; Isaiah 5:20; Ezekiel 18:30-32; “Foundation of Salvation“; “The Idolatry Factor“)

family-policeLike the apostate whore that it replaces, this new satanic incarnation of Babylon will also proudly strut about its military might; strategies, armies and weapons with no real regard for humanity. Unlike the prior regime, this new world order of man will openly plunder riches, demanding tribute, heavy taxation from the world that it has conquered. It will plunder prisoners and take many captive in the name of freedom and hope, grounded in a new religion that it polices. However, Bible prophecy specifies that the pride of this political and religious Babylon of man will reap a downfall quickly. Despite the window dressing of politics, little will have changed in the world of corruption that backs the system in place. (Revelation 13:1-18, 16:9, 17:1-18, 18:1-24; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Psalm 40:4; “Christians & the Great Humanitarian Age“; “The God of General Goodness“)

What will you do? Prepare yourself spiritually in the best way that you can, through prayer, obedience to scripture and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. YHWH told Habakkuk to write the answers that He gave for others to see and understand. That is the purpose of all YHWH’s watchmen. If you are a disciples of the Messiah, that means you! That is what we are doing here for you! (Matthew 3:8; Luke 13:3; John 14:26; Acts 3:19; Ephesians 5:11; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9; Psalm 112:7; “Understanding Sin“)

United Nations flagWhy must all these things happen? The history of the political, financial and religious decoration [kosmos] that is joined with Satan must be proved for what it is, a complete and dismal failure. In this way, God’s sovereignty and Kingdom will be exalted, brought into being as the wicked are judged and the righteous prevail. This is all done through the provision of the Father’s love, a place of safety and care for His beloved. YHWH wants you to come to Him with your personal doubts and struggles, even though His answers may not be what you expect. (Hebrews 12:5-6) YHWH sustains you by revealing Himself to you through the power of the Holy Spirit. Trusting Him leads to quiet trust and confidence instead of bitterness and resignation to the world [kosmos]. YHWH Almighty is in control despite the appearance of evil. Soon, He will rule the earth in justice with the Messiah at his side. (Colossians 1:13; Ephesians 6:12; Romans 8:32; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 1 John 4:18; Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 56:3-4; “Are You a Christian First or Last?“; “YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“)

discern both good and evilEvil is self-destructive and never beyond YHWH’s control even though injustice and wickedness fill the world of man. Yet, the Most High may use unusual instruments of the world to bless and curse as He allows. When correction is required, how can you complain about the rod that YHWH uses or allows to be used on you? That doesn’t mean that those that come against His people won’t be punished. It means that you can create real problems for yourself. Instead of questioning the Almighty, you must fully realize that He is just and in complete control, whether you understand what happens to you or not. Evil will be destroyed and He wants to root it out of you, even as He seeks to protect you. That is why obedience is so important. You can relax, refraining from all worrying and anxiety. There is no need to fret, envying about what you will do tomorrow and what your plans are for the long-term. YHWH will cover you with His wings. (John 14:15; Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Titus 3:5; Psalm 23:4, 37:7-9; Proverbs 24:19-20, 25:26; “The Struggle for Purity of Heart“)

treasureThe riches of Babylon have been continuously recycled from the misfortunes of others. These riches are only fuel for the fire of the Father’s vengeance. The love of riches and the evil means of acquiring those riches are in the hearts of all worldly men and women. (1 Timothy 6:10) Hungering for wealth will cause you to lose your appetite for YHWH. Money and material things cannot take the place of YHWH’s Kingdom, nor can the constructs of man’s creation be more important than people. (Matthew 6:25-34; Philippians 4:6-7; James 1:11; Proverbs 3:6)

“What profit is the image, that its maker should carve it, the molded image, a teacher of lies, that the maker of its mold should trust in it, to make mute idols? Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Awake!’ to silent stone, ‘Arise! It shall teach!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet in it there is no breath at all.” – Habakkuk 2:18-19

sumerian idolsThis modern age is full of idolatry. Idolatry isn’t simply bowing down to idols, but is trusting in what a person has made in his or her own power. Trusting in government, religious organizations, banking and finance, homes and material possessions, or business and commerce makes you an idolater, slated for destruction. Do you trust YHWH more than what your hands have made? These idols have no life or power beyond what you give them. Idols are empty and of no real value. (Luke 16:10; “Video: What is Idolatry?“; “The Abomination That Causes Desolation“; “Leadership & Highly Effective People“)

All disciples of the Messiah, Yahshua [Jesus] must learn to trust YHWH Almighty, coming to know Him for Who He is. This means going beyond unpleasant daily experiences and learning to experience the joy of knowing Him. This means that you live by trusting Him, not simply by desiring the benefits that He will bring His people in His Kingdom. The world of today sings loud praises for ‘hope’ and the religious for ‘faith.’ The world doesn’t know the meaning or power suggested by either because they have diluted the meaning. They don’t discern the Elohim of scripture or where they truly stand in His face. He is a nameless, mostly powerless god of convenience to them. (John 17:17; Titus 1:9; Ephesians 5:6; “Condemnation, Dogs & Hogs“; “Seeking a New Spirit“)

castle watchtowerAs for Christians, they must stand for YHWH’s Kingdom as in watchtowers that have been built along the entrenchment of YHWH’s righteousness where they walk. They follow His way alone, a straight way of protection and the Holy Spirit works within them. (Isaiah 21:8; Psalm 73:2-3, 16-17; 2 Samuel 23:2) YHWH is the fortress and strong tower to His people, no matter who an invader may be. (Psalm 20:6-7, 28:8; Isaiah 26:3)

In the end, Habakkuk responded with a prayer of trust, praising YHWH for answering His questions. He brought to remembrance the Most High’s mighty acts in the Exodus and the joy of being close to Him. (“YHWH’s Answer to Your Prayers“)

“Though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no fruit on the vine, the yield of the olive has failed, and the fields brought forth no food, the flock has been cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls, yet I exult in YHWH, I rejoice in the Elohim of my deliverance. YHWH the Master is my strength. And He makes my feet like those of deer, and makes me walk on my high places. (to the chief singer with my stringed instruments.)” – Habakkuk 3:17-19, ISR98

fear of nationsEven in the worst of times and times of great loss, you can rejoice in the Elohim of Hosts, YHWH Almighty. You must not fear, even if YHWH’s victory seems a long time in coming. YHWH keeps His promises, especially where those that love Him are concerned. You can count of Him as the sovereign ruler of the universe. Selah. Praise the rock of YHWH. (James 1:12; Hebrews 11:6; Psalm 37:32-33, 39-40, 56:4, 91:1-16; “The Secret Weapons of Christians“; “The Importance of Practical Repentance“)

After their release from Babylon, the remnant of YHWH’s people of that day were amazed at their restoration to their homeland and the vanquishing of their enemies: Egypt, Assyria and Babylon. In the same way, the international order of mankind will be subdued by YHWH, as all rebellious mankind is subdued and judged by His Kingdom. Only YHWH can be trusted to vindicate those that love Him. You can be assured that YHWH is Elohim and will do what is right. Knowing this instills confidence in Him despite a confusing world in turmoil that seeks to oppose Him. (Matthew 7:13-14, 25:41, 46; John 8:44, 12:48; James 1:21; 1 John 4:17; 1 Corinthians 2:14-16; Titus 2:12; Revelation 20:11-15)

How will you respond?

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
