Is the Bible Losing Influence in the United States?

by John and Ruth Greene

holding the BibleIs the Bible losing its influence in America? What do you see? For Christians living in the United States, this is an important question worth answering because this evidence is a sign of the times. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 8; Ephesians 5:6; 1 Timothy 4:1) Most important is how you personally relate to the question. This is because the reality of salvation is one person at a time. Through the history of the nation, our summary is that the majority of American Christians has not been taught or has not come to know scriptural truth beyond the simplest terms. Either they have depended on what others have said or they haven’t taken a real interest for themselves. Through spiritual maturity, a disciple becomes a new person through Christ as he or she puts down the old man of sin. (1 Corinthians 2:14; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 3:1, 10; Ephesians 4:24; Proverbs 3:5; “Seeking a New Spirit“; “The Road to Enslavement“)

The Bible and the American Disconnect

dusty-Bible-readIn a survey* carried out in 2013, 88% of Americans surveyed represented that they owned a Bible. 80% viewed the Bible as sacred, although not necessarily on a personal basis. 77 percent of those surveyed believed that values and morals in the United States were declining. A third of them said that this is because Americans don’t read the Bible enough. How can a person rightly-divide the Word of truth if they can’t discern the truth? Reading scripture regularly is the start of study and personal understanding, which is the beginning of spiritual discernment and personal relationship with YHWH through Yahshua [Jesus] and Counsel of the Holy Spirit. Pray that you may receive these things so that you can share them with others. (2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Peter 3:15; Acts 17:11; Ecclesiastes 7:25; “Approved: Lie Cheat & Steal“; “Trading for the Myth of Peace & Security” “Wisdom & the Battle of Two Kingdoms“)

“And you do not have His Word staying in you, because you do not believe Him whom He sent. You search the Scriptures, because you think you possess everlasting life in them. And these are the ones that bear witness of Me. But you do not desire to come to Me in order to possess life. I do not receive esteem from men, but I know you, that you do not have the love of Elohim in you. I have come in My Father’s Name and you do not receive Me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive. How are you able to believe, when you are receiving esteem from one another, and the esteem that is from the only Elohim you do not seek?” – John 5:38-44, ISR98

time for a meaningful life66% of those surveyed said that they believe the Bible has everything a person needs to live a meaningful life, yet many are happy bringing antichrist substitution of scripture into their lives. To many, it’s religion rather than any semblance of truth or truth-seeking about the One they claim to love. A truly meaningful life comes through right relationship with YHWH through Yahshua [Jesus] and the personal Counsel of the Holy Spirit. The rest of Christian life is evidenced through the provision of YHWH or it is a contrivance of man. 58% of Americans polled said they don’t want the wisdom and advice the Bible has to offer. So are these going to see the need or desire to do more regarding the Word of YHWH?

Statistically, a minimum of 8% of those that claim that the Bible has everything a person needs to live a meaningful life don’t want the wisdom and advice the Bible has to offer. In addition, 57% or a 9% minimum of those that agreed scripture has what a person needs in life claimed to read the scriptures fewer than five times a year. To us, the testimony of these Americans indicates a real lack of interest in the Bible over the concerns and immediate issues of the world [kosmos: the social decoration of man]. (Matthew 6:24, 25-33, 23:28; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20) 56% of those polled believe that the Bible has too little influence in U.S. society today. Indications are that some people give scripture plenty of lip service, but little real devotion beyond appearances (if that). (Matthew 24:47-51; Acts 4:10-12; Colossians 2:8; “Delusion & the Tightening Noose of the Beast System“; “Christian Lifestyle: Where Do You Place Your Trust?”; “The Lie Changes Everything“)

begin-to-discern26% of Americans polled said that they never read the Bible. 12% read the Bible less than once a year. 10% read scripture once or twice a year. Of those that read the Bible, 53% claimed that reading the Bible brings them ‘closer to God’. 18% claimed to read the Bible because they needed direction or had a problem. 14% claimed comfort as their top reason to consult the Bible. How many can claim what god they are actually closer to? Do they know the Name of the one they claim to serve? (Matthew 7:14, 22-23; John 14:21; Romans 6:16; James 1:22, 2:24; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; “The Beast Seduction of the Masses“; “Are You a Christian First or Last?“; “The Beginning of Life Renewal“)

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” – Luke 6:46, NKJV

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” – John 14:15-17, NKJV

preacherRelatively few adults in the poll believed that scripture can be correctly interpreted (and taught) by those with years of intense training in theology. We agree. The Bible says that scripture can only begin to be correctly understood by those that dwell in the Holy Spirit, those that actually look to Him for guidance. The pollsters wrongly concluded that those polled believed that scripture was readily accessible to the common person (but didn’t ask). For a more correct understanding of this question, you must evaluate the answer to the question. Few adults believe what theologians and other religious leaders say is accurate. In other words, many that claim to be believers are skeptical about what religious leaders say. Neither pollsters nor powers in place are admitting what the problem is because the admission takes power away from professed leaders and desire to pretend that all is well with the church, a body that no longer knows truth. (Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 3:17; Ephesians 4:16 2 Timothy 3:1-7; “Filling Your Life With Truth Instead of Deception“; “The Role of Authority in Your Life“; “Spiritual Authority & Satan’s Wheels of Destruction“)

reap deathSome would say that you don’t need a poll to see what is in plain evidence. Clearly, both greed and entertainment rank high as symptoms of “moral decline”. Increasingly, people aren’t dedicating their lives to a Heavenly Father, even when they claim to read scripture or attend church. Christians today don’t generally concern themselves with the need to begin the process of being made new through the Messiah. (Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:6) Reality is that each person reaps what is sown, both personally, congregationally, nationally and internationally. Today, the world is involved in a non-stop global curse of nations, as leaders struggle to deal with unrest, crisis and fallout from their own poor decisions and corruption. (James 4:11-12; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Deuteronomy 28:15-68; Hosea 10:13-14a) It isn’t much different for many professed Christians. Today on the Christian front, nearly 50% of Christians deny the existence of Satan, preferring the eternal struggle of good and evil that rings true in ‘new age’ teaching. Nearly 60% of Christians do not believe in the Holy Spirit beyond the symbolic. This further plays into the hands of Satan and his agents as they rule through deception and ignorance. (John 8:44; Galatians 6:7-8; Proverbs 10:9, 12:22; Romans 12:1-2;1 Peter 5:8-9; “Disciple: The Bible & Higher Authority“; “The Reality of the AntiChrist“; “Culture: Prompting Falsehood Through the Lie“)

Sadly, the words of the Master ring so true today:

“Not all that say to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ enter into the purpose of the Kingdom of Heaven. To the contrary, he that yields the purpose of My Father in Heaven. Many say to Me in that Day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and in Your Name cast out devils and in Your Name yielded many miracles? Then at that time I will agree with the authority of Heaven, them I never knew. You! Depart from Me ministers of wickedness.” – Matthew 7:21-23, direct translation

salvation from the stormChristians cannot take salvation or the promises of YHWH for granted. (Mark 16:16; Luke 12:22-34, 35-40; Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:27; James 2:18) The symptoms of the world, carried so prominently in so many professed Christians demonstrates the time that we are living in. (Mark 7:20-22; Ephesians 4:31-32; Galatians 5:16-26; James 1:22-25) Worse, deceived Christians that do not believe in the Holy Spirit can hardly be expected to rely on Him for guidance as the promised Counselor of Christians. Scripture is a call to action. Are you heeding the call? (Romans 12:1-2; “Listening to the Holy Spirit“; “Foundation of Salvation“; “YHWH is Your Shield & Salvation“)

“For YHWH so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, RNKJV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your glory. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. Amen.
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
