Grief is a Challenge You Will Win

by John Greene

prayer to YHWHEven those that believe they know grief intimately are at a disadvantage when they’re in the midst of it. I find it somewhat humorous that ‘grief experts’ consistently talk about understanding grief. However, grief is more than the rationality of your mind, so you won’t conquer grief in its’ entirety there. Grief is an experience, and as an experience, some of the experience is beyond simply explaining away. One experience with grief is not the same as another, and you aren’t in complete control. Yet, you are well served by knowing how grief works and what you might expect, as well as taking the right steps to successfully navigate and eliminate the disabling specter of grief. Grief is not a place you want to reside for a long time. Most often, especially at first, you feel alone in grief. However, you are not alone. Your Father will not forsake you when you trust in Him. (Hebrews 13:5; Exodus 33:14; Deuteronomy 31:6-8; 1 Chronicles 28:20; Psalm 37:23-25; Romans 1:28; “Breakthrough Prayer: Grief“; “YHWH Cares About Your Pain & Grief“; “Abiding in Trust“; “Abiding With YHWH in Quiet Places“)

“Lift up your countenance towards the Mountain, from where His help abides. Help accompanies YHWH, maker of heaven and earth. He will not leave your way to waver, a hedge about you that does not sleep. See that the Hedge of Israel neither sleeps nor is slack. YHWH is your Hedge. YHWH is your defense upon your right hand of power. The battlement will not strike by day, by moon at night. YHWH will place a hedge about you from all grief, a hedge around your life. YHWH will place a hedge about your going out and coming in from now into eternity.” – Psalm 121:1-8, direct translation

“El’s Way is upright. The word of YHWH is refined. He is a shield to all that seek refuge in Him.” – Psalm 18:30

sufferGrief is disruptive to the extent that you can more easily do things you wouldn’t ordinarily do. You might feel as if your life and feelings are unpredictable. It affects your thinking and what you feel – even when you feel it. You will feel doubts you have not felt before. You can lose your direction in life more easily and are likely to find the same kind of things happening in your day to day life – even if only in a moment. That is one reason why you might be wiser in avoiding decisions that can be delayed. In this way you can avoid collateral damage from this temporary state of trouble. (“Prayer & Your Trust“; “Facing Adversity in Trust“; “Persisting Against Deception & Oppression During Tribulation“)

“Let no one be anxious, but all in prayer and petition together with thankfulness, declaring your requests to Elohim.” – Philippians 4:6, direct translation

“Come near to me, all that are fatigued and overburdened. I exempt you. Take up My yoke on you and learn from Me because I am gentle and humble of heart, and obtain rest for your spirit. For My yoke is kind and My load is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

building-blockOne of the largest issues is that grief isn’t simply a single loss. For example, if you were to lose your wife in death or in some other way, your wife was a lot more than just one thing. A person isn’t a block of wood that fills a square space. A person doesn’t have dimensions that can be measured. A person is multifaceted with many qualities. When you are close to someone, you will discover that your relationship involved a whole host of qualities that you didn’t previously consider. A wife is more than a partner. She could be any or all of these things to you: companion, friend, lover, encourager, housekeeper, confidant, cook and comforter. Of course, she can also be negative qualities which you might find yourself missing as well. Why do I bring this up? I bring this up because the grief that you experience each day is as multifaceted as the person you knew and loved. She has helped to define who you are today. Even things that you didn’t realize still bring about attachment. Because of these attachments, you will feel loss and some uncertainty. You may even feel as if you’ve been gutted, torn in two. You are experiencing loss and this is to be expected. Give up the ideal and live in the real (the present) so that you can heal. (“Where is Your Trust?“; “Real Love“; “Healing Wounds That People Can’t See“; “Deception: The Plague of Love Detachment“; “Building a Relationship With YHWH“)

“For the prayer of trust will heal the sick and the Master will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” – James 5:15, direct translation

“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3, ISR98

christian-struggleThat is why you need to be able to speak of this to your Heavenly Father. He knows your deepest needs that only He can provide. He will respond if your are listening. If you’ve never listened before, this would be a good time to learn or to begin. He gave disciples a Counselor that many people know as the ‘Holy Spirit‘ [Dedicated, Set Apart Spirit]. Your Father has met your initial need with the provision of salvation through His Son Yahshua [Jesus]. The rest is up to you. You have the expectation of healing. How much better when you have real help through abiding in Elohim, depending on Him. This might seem strange to those that have never done so before. Yet, now is the time. You are likely to find that He carries you as your wounds heal. Don’t avoid the challenge of dealing with grief. You have all the help that you need. (“Grief: Living Your Thanks in Poverty or Plenty“; “Life Healing and Belief“; “Breakthrough Prayer: Loneliness“; “The Way: Getting Stuck in a Rut – And Out Again“)

“‘For I declare my intentions that I purpose toward you,’ says YHWH, ‘intentions of well-being, not of evil, to bring forth what I long for in the end. Call Me by Name. Walk with Me and entreat Me. I hear you that seek Me, that are present with Me, because you walk with Me with all your heart.'” – Jeremiah 29:11-13

“For YAHWEH so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that everyone believing into Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16, HRB
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending the Messiah, your only begotten Son to be my Savior. I believe in Him and have made this belief the center of my life. Because of this, by faith I have everlasting life! Thank you! I repent of my sins and of my past, freely admitting that I have fallen short of Your righteousness. I look fully forward to you in my life and commit my life to You. Thank You YHWH, my Heavenly Father for setting me free in the name of your Son Yahshua [Jesus]. May it be as you have promised!
genuine-articleYou will never enjoy true freedom through the Messiah and power of the Holy Spirit unless you read and absorb the Bible in prayer and trust. You will never know this freedom until you experience it for yourself. Get to know your Heavenly Father, His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, your Holy Counselor that lives in you to help you learn about the truth of YHWH and His spiritual gifts.
Satan does not want you to have the excellence of YHWH in your life. People pray for protection and want to be taken care of, but often do little in growing close to Him. The world, your husband, your wife, your family, your government do not build your trust in YHWH or free you from spiritual bondage. Your church or your pastor cannot save you. Education, power and money will not free you, but only the Word of your Heavenly Father. Salvation is a daily walk, an act of love for yourself and for those around you, not a one-time event that centers only on you. Make the Word of YHWH your own, your very life!
YHWH is Yahweh, the covenant name of your Heavenly Father.
The names Yahshua and Yahushua are original language names for Jesus,
He is often referred simply as the Messiah or Master.
