Almost everyone has casually read Matthew where Yahshua [Jesus] talks about the choices of the last days followed by His Kingdom judgment. A closer look reveals what is rarely translated, the reality that ‘few agree to obtain’ the road to life, which indicates that a personal decision is required. This decision is real action on the part of the believer. More intriguing is the reality that Messiah expresses for the multitude that follow the wide and spacious road – ‘by their reason, they agree to enter.’ I have reviewed the original text and translated it for you here. (“Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“; “Blind Leading the Blind“; “Consenting to Fables of Men“; Colossians 3:1, 10; Ephesians 4:24; Hebrews 12:15; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Romans 12:1-2)
“Enter in through the narrow gate. Because wide is the gate and spacious the road, put to death through destruction, and many, by their reason, agree to enter. For narrow is the gate and troublesome is the road, the one that leads to life, and few agree to obtain it.
Take heed that you separate yourselves from false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravening wolves. You will know to mark them by their fruit. Does anyone gather grapes from a thorn, or a fig from a brier? In this way, all beneficial trees bear honest fruit, but a worthless tree bears harmful fruit. A beneficial tree cannot bear harmful fruit, neither a worthless tree bear honest fruit. All trees that do not bear honest fruit are cut down and cast into fire. In this manner, by their fruit you will know them.
Not all that say to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ enter into the purpose of the Kingdom of Heaven. To the contrary, he that yields the purpose of My Father in Heaven. Many say to Me in that Day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and in Your Name cast out devils and in Your Name yielded many miracles? Then at that time I will agree with the authority of Heaven, them I never knew. You! Depart from Me ministers of wickedness.” – Matthew 7:13-23, direct translation
Those that you listen to are clearly marked by their fruit. Beneficial trees bear honest fruit. A piece of honest fruit is exactly what it appears as on the outside. A worthless tree bears harmful fruit, the fruit which leads to destruction. In the end, Yahshua is the One that makes the Judgment about what kind of fruit that all are bearing. You either bear ‘honest fruit’ or ‘harmful fruit.’ Who and what you listen to are key to the choices you make and the kind of fruit that you bear.
Finally, many will believe that they have followed after the Messiah, have done His Will, performed many signs or miracles – whatever they did, it may have appeared to the world as though they were His anointed disciples. They may have believed so themselves. However, the truth of the matter is in the spiritual fruit that they bore based on the important details of His Word. Yahshua [Jesus] is the Judge and the Word.
These words are timeless, requiring special attention in this time! What you reason in this season shows what you believe! As disciples, we must watch how we walk in personal trust to YHWH’s Kingdom.
