To the authors, Malachi speaks against the churches that we have in this nation and much of the world. In his day, Malachi was put in place as a witness, to set matters right before His people, about how judgment was coming. In today’s terms, Malachi is talking about ministers in the pulpit, ordained priests and the like. (“Redefining Good“; “Incentives of Deception“; “Scriptures – Qodesh, Being Set Apart“)
Malachi rebuked the people and the priests for neglecting the worship of Elohim [‘God’]. They failed to live according to YHWH’s will. They were not set apart to Him. If the priests were apostate, how could they lead the people? They had become stumbling-blocks instead of spiritual leaders. If the people were divorcing their wives and marrying worldly women, how could they lead their children? Their relationship and standing to YHWH became valueless. They cared only about themselves and their lusts. (“Living in an Apostate World“; “Leaven of the Pharisees; Leaven of the World“; “The Secret of Dedicated Disciples“)
The priests were offering blemished sacrifices. The priests were answerable to YHWH, to be certain of the quality of a sacrifice on the altar. The people were making blemished sacrifices and the priests were offering these sacrifices without correction or rebuke of the one making the offering. Whether they were exchanging whole animals for blemished, or sacrificing blemished ones instead of whole and healthy offerings, it makes no difference. A substitute sacrifice of a different standard was being made, a counterfeit sacrifice of vanity. (Malachi 1:6) In this day, those that claim to be ‘God’s people’ commonly make ‘sacrifices’ based on their own traditions and myths. They honor a substitute authority, a substitute gospel, making personal offerings spotted by the world. Today, each disciple is a priest to the Yahshua [Jesus]. He is the Chief Priest. Multitudes respond by offering substitutes instead of responding to what the Heavenly Father has asked them for. Like the original priests, they came to neglect the worship and will of YHWH. (Matthew 12:31, 24:24; 1 Thessalonians 5:22; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; 2 John 1:7, 2:22; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; “Ya Gotta Have Roots!“; “Building a Counterfeit Kingdom“; “End Time Decision & Reality“; “The Antichrist & the War on Reality“).
When your relationship with Elohim becomes less important than it should be [idolatry], you can strengthen your trust by setting aside sinful habits, and setting yourself apart to Him. You set your mind and heart on your Father and give Him your best each day. (“The Idolatry Factor“; “The Basics of Strongholds & Idolatry“; “Being Set Apart Makes You Aware of Sin“)
In Israel, most of the people had fallen away from their Heavenly Father. However, a few still honored and respected Him. They are the treasure of His Covenant.
“At this time, when you discern carefully the sound of My voice and you place a hedge of protection around My covenant, you will come to be My special treasure above all people, certainly all the earth.“ – Exodus 19:5, direct translation
“Then will those who revered YHWH spoke to one another, and YHWH listened and heard. A scroll of memorial was written before those that revered the Authority of YHWH. ‘It will come to pass,’ declared YHWH of hosts, ‘in the day that I appoint over My special treasure, they will be spared as a man has compassion over his own son that serves him. Repent. Discern between righteousness and wickedness, between those that serve Elohim and those that do not serve Him.’” – Malachi 3:16-18, direct translation
Have you placed your life in YHWH’s safety? The day is certainly coming that the decoration of man’s creation [kosmos] will burn like a furnace. It will be melted away and replaced by YHWH’s Kingdom.
“For look, ‘the day comes, burning as an oven. All the arrogant, all that make wickedness will come to be as stubble. The day that comes will set them ablaze,’ says YHWH of hosts, ‘which permits no root or cover.’ Revere the Authority of the Shining Battlement of Righteousness, rising up with healing in His [the] wings [of His prayer garment of protection – the most extreme part of the garment, tzitzis – sit-sis], bringing forth and spreading out as fatted calves of the stall. ‘Tread down the wicked, for they will come to be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I appoint,’ says YHWH of hosts.” – Malachi 4:1-4:4, direct translation
In the Day of our Father, He will bring strength and healing to those that obey Him. (Luke 1:76-79; Isaiah 60:20; Revelation 21:23-24) John the Baptist prophesied that with the Coming of Yahshua [Jesus], the dawn of Light was breaking for those in captivity to sin. Regardless of what circumstances and events may appear at this moment, Elohim controls the future. Everything will be made right, righteous by His standard. Those that have loved and served Him look forward to the joyful celebration. This expectation for the future is yours when you trust YHWH with your life. (“YHWH’s Track of Righteousness“; “YHWH: The Choice to Stay Loyal“; “Understanding Sin“; “Victory Over Wickedness“)
Malachi gives YHWH’s true people practical guidelines about personal commitment to Him. Elohim deserves the best you and I have to offer. (Malachi 1:7-10) Today, all disciples must be willing to set themselves apart to Him, casting off the idolatry of the world. Welcome His refining process of love in your life. Those that are committed to Him will find His judgment a time of great joy! His Kingdom will bring eternity in YHWH’s presence. Those that have ignored Elohim will be as stubble, burned into destruction. Malachi prepared the way for Yahshua [Jesus], by declaring the need to be set apart to Elohim.
